W ar ning and safety instructions This appliance complies with all rele- vant legal safety requir ements. Im- proper use of the appliance can, however , present a risk of both per- sonal injury and material damage. Before installation and befor e using for the first time, read the operating instructions carefully .
The electrical safety of this ap- pliance can only be guaranteed when continuity is complete between the appliance and an effective earthing system which complies with local and national safety regulations. It is most im- portant that this basic safety require- ment is tested by a qualified electri- cian.
Do not use sharp edged objects to – remove fr ost and ice, – separate frozen foods and remove ice trays. They will damage the evaporator and the appliance will not be able to be used again (total damage). Never place electric heaters or candles in the appliance to defrost it.
Operation Before using for the first time Clean the inside of the appliance and the accessories with luke war m water and a little washing up liquid and then dry using a soft cloth. Switchi ng on Using a coin turn the On/O f f d ial in a clockwise direction away from the "0" position.
The correct temper ature It is very impor tant to set the correct temperature for storing food in the ap- pliance. Micro organisms will cause food which is not stored at the corr ect temperature to d eteriorate rapidly . T em- perature influences the gr owth rate of these micro organisms.
Dynamic cooling Dynamic cooling m With dynamic cooling the temperature inside the appliance is distributed to all areas mor e ev enly . All food stored in the appliance will be chilled to about the same degree. The temperatur e is controlled as normal with the tempera- ture di al.
Storing food Natural air circulation gives rise to d iffer- ent temperature zones inside the ap- pliance. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the differ ent zones when placing food in the appliance. The coldest zones are ag ainst the back wall and above the vegetable con- tainers.
Adjusting the interior fittings Moving the sh elves The shelves can be adjusted according to the height of the food. Pull the shelves forward as far as they will go then lift them upwards to remove them. With the rear barrier facing up wards place the shelf at the required p osi- tion.
Chilling and storing food Important notes: Use the differ ent cooling zones for storing food correctly . See the sec- tion on loading examples. – Food must not touch the back wall of the appliance. Otherwise it may freeze to the back wall. – Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products con- taining combustible g as (e.
Defrosting Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the appliance whilst it is in use. These are automatically removed and defr osted by the ap- pliance. The condensate is drained away via a channel and drain hole into an evapora- tion system at the back of the ap- pliance.
Cleaning and care Never use cleaning agents contain- ing abrasive substances such as sand, soda, acids or chemical sol- vents. "Non-abrasive" cleaning agents are also unsuitable as they can cause matt areas to appear . Make sure that no water can pene- trate into the electronic unit or into the light.
Metal grille at the back of the appliance The metal grille at the back of the ap- pliance (heat exchanger) should be dusted at least once a year . A build up of dust will increase the energy con- sumption of the appliance. When cleaning the grille, make sure that the pipework and other compo- nents do not get broken or dam- aged in any way .
Problem solving guide Repairs to electrical appliances should only be carried out by a suit- ably qualified and competent per- son in accordance with local and national safety regulations. Unauth- orised repairs could be dangerous. The following can be corrected without contacting the Miele Service Depart- ment: What to do if .
. . . the interior ligh t in the refrig- erator does not work. Is the temperature selector at a set- ting other than “ 0 ” ? If it is then the bulb may be defective and need re- placing.

Non-rewireable plugs (BS 1363) If this machine is fitted with a non- rewir eable plug, the following infor ma- tion applies: If the socket outlets are not suitable for the plug supplied with this prod uct, it must be cut off and an appr opriate plug fitted.
Installation Do not place any appliance which gives off heat, such as a toaster or microwave oven on top of this ap- pliance, as this would increase the appliance ’ s energy consumption. Location The appliance should be installed in a dry , well ventilated room.
Changing the door hinging The appliance is supplied right hand hinged. If you want it left hand hinged follow the instructions below . Open the appliance door . Use a screwdriver to lever the plinth facia b out, then pull it forwards and off. Use a screwdriver to remove cover c then close the door .
T ur n door support c around, pull the hinge pin b out, and refit it on the opposite side. Fit both parts into hing e plate g . T o do this push hinge pin b through hinge plate g into the door support c . Swing door support out, push up- wards and re- assemble with screw d .
Building in The appliance can be installed into a kitchen run. T o match the height of the rest of the kitchen the appliance can be fitted with a suitable top box b . A ventilation gap of at least 50 mm depth must be allowed for behind the appliance for air to circulate.
