Optional accessories Bottle rack Bottles can be stored horizontally using the bottle rack to save space. The bottle rack can be placed at different positions in the appliance. Split shelf In order to accommodate tall items in the appliance, one of the shelves is divided.
Disposal of the packing material The packaging is designed to protect the appliance from damage during transportation. The packaging materials used are selected from materials which are environmentally friendly for disposal and should be recycled.
This appliance complies with all statutory safety requirements. Inappropriate use can, however, lead to personal injury and damage to property. To avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance, please read these instructions carefully before installation and before using it for the first time.
~ The appliance is not suitable for storing and keeping cool medicines, blood plasma, laboratory preparations or other such materials or products. Incorrect use of the appliance for such purposes can cause deterioration of the items stored. The appliance is also not suitable for use in areas susceptible to explosion.
~ Danger of suffocation. Packaging, e.g. plastic wrappings, must be kept out of the reach of babies and children. Whilst playing, children could become entangled in packaging or pull it over their head and suffocate. Technical safety ~ The coolant system is tested for leaks.
~ The more coolant there is in an appliance, the larger the room it should be installed in. In the event of a leakage, if the appliance is in a small room, there is the danger of combustible gases building up. For ever y8go f coolant at least 1 m 3 of room space is required.
~ A damaged appliance can be dangerous. Check the appliance for visible signs of damage. Do not use a damaged appliance. ~ For safety reasons, this appliance may only be used when it has been built in. ~ The appliance must be disconnected from the mains electricity supply during installation, maintenance and repair work.
Correct use ~ The appliance is designed for use within certain climate ranges (ambient temperatures), and should not be used outside this range. The climate range of the appliance is stated on the data plate inside the appliance.
~ Observe the manufacturer's "use-by" dates and storage instructions given on food to avoid the risk of food poisoning. Storage times will depend on several factors, including the freshness and quality of the food as well as the temperature at which it is stored.
Disposal of your old appliance ~ Before disposing of an old appliance, first make the door latch or lock unusable. This way you will prevent children from accidentally locking themselves in and endangering their lives. ~ Be careful not to damage any part of the pipework whilst awaiting disposal, e.

Before using for the first time Protective foil The stainless steel trim to the interior shelves and the door shelves has a layer of protective foil to prevent damage during transportation. ^ Carefully remove the protective foil from the stainless steel trim.
Switching off for longer periods of time If the appliance is not going to be used for a longer period of time, e.g. whilst on holiday: ^ switch the appliance off, ^ disconnect it from the mains, ^ clean the appliance out and ^ leave the door ajar to air the appliance.
It is very important to set the correct temperature for storing food in the appliance. Micro-organisms will cause food which is not stored at the correct temperature to deteriorate rapidly. Temperature influences the growth rate of these micro-organisms.
Temperature display The temperature display on the control panel always shows the required temperature. Setting the temperature If the appliance door is opened very often, or if large quantities of food are being stored in the appliance, or if there is a high ambient temperature, it is advisable to set the temperature between 3°C and 5°C .
Settings mode The lock is activated or deactivated in Settings mode. Activating or deactivating the lock c Settings mode is represented in the display by the Menu symbol X .
– To deactivate the lock ^ Press the Super cool button for approx. five seconds. The Lock symbol 0 and the Menu symbol X will light up and c will flash in the display. Settings mode is now activated. ^ Press the Super cool button briefly to call up the lock function.
Super cool The Super cool function can be used to rapidly reduce the temperature in the refrigerator to its lowest setting (depending on the room temperature). Super cool is particularly recommended for the faster chilling of large amounts of fresh food or drink.
Switching on Dynamic cooling ^ Press the Dynamic cooling button briefly. The Dynamic cooling symbol ¢ will light up. The Dynamic cooling fan is now ready to operate. It will switch on automatically when the compressor switches on. Switching off Dynamic cooling ^ Press the Dynamic cooling button.
Different storage zones Due to the natural circulation of the air in the appliance, there are different temperature zones in the refrigerator. Cold, heavy air sinks to the lowest section of the appliance. Make use of the different zones when placing food in the appliance.
Do not store explosive materials in the appliance or any products containing propellants (e.g. spray cans). Danger of explosion. If storing alcohol with a high percentage proof, make sure it is tightly closed, and store upright.
When shopping for food The freshness of food when first placed in the appliance is an important factor in determining how long it stays fresh, and how long it can be kept in the refrigerator. Always observe the use-by date and the recommended storage temperature.
Adjusting the door shelf/bottle shelf ^ Push the door/bottle shelf upwards, then remove it by pulling it forwards. ^ Replace the door/bottle shelf at the required position.
Fruit and vegetable drawer (depending on model) The fruit and vegetable drawer is on telescopic runners, and can be removed for filling, emptying or cleaning purposes. ^ Pull out the drawer as far as it will go, and then lift it up and out. Push the runners back in again to avoid damaging them.
The refrigerator section defrosts automatically. Condensate and frost can build up on the back wall of the refrigerator section whilst the compressor is running. You do not need to remove this, as it will defrost and evaporate automatically with the warmth generated by the compressor.
Do not let water get into the electronic unit or into the light. Do not let water get into the condensate channel and drain hole when cleaning. Do not use steam cleaning apparatus to clean the appliance. Steam could reach electrical components and cause a short circuit.
Cleaning the interior and accessories The appliance should be cleaned regularly, at least once a month. Remove any obvious soiling immedi - ately and do not let it dry on. ^ Clean the interior surfaces and accessories with a solution of lukewarm water and a little washing-up liquid.
After cleaning ^ Replace all shelves and accessories in the appliance. ^ Close the door. ^ Reconnect to the mains and switch the appliance back on. ^ Switch on the Super cool function for a while so that the appliance can cool down quickly. ^ Place food back in the appliance and close the door.
Some minor problems can be corrected without contacting Miele. The following overview is designed to help you resolve these yourself. If having followed the suggestions below, you still cannot resolve the problem, please contact Miele.
The compressor is switching on too frequently and for too long, so the temperature in the appliance is dropping. Problem Possible cause Remedy The temperature inside the appliance is too low. The temperature inside the appliance is set too low. ^ Set the correct temperature setting.

Interior lighting Problem Possible cause Remedy The interior lighting is not working. The appliance has not been switched on. ^ Press the On/Off button. To avoid overheating, the lighting switches itself off automatically after approx. 15 minutes if the door is left open.
Other problems Problem Possible cause Remedy You cannot switch the appliance off. The lock has been activated. The 0 symbol will appear in the display. ^ Deactivate the lock (see "Selecting settings - To deactivate the lock"). The external side panels of the appliance feel warm.
Normal noises What causes them Brrrrr... Humming noise made by the motor (compressor). This noise can get louder for brief periods when the motor is switching on. Blubb, blubb.... A gurgling noise can be heard when coolant is circulating through the pipes.

Electrical connection U.K. All electrical work should be carried out by a suitably qualified and competent person in strict accordance with current local and national safety regulations (BS 7671 in the UK). The appliance is supplied with a mains cable and moulded plug ready for connection to an a.
This appliance must be built in, otherwise it could tip up. Side-by-side KS 35222 iD, KS 37222 iD refrigerators have two foamed in side-wall heaters enabling them to be installed side-by-side with other appliances. Each appliance must be installed in its own niche.
Ventilation Specified ventilation gaps must be maintained. Otherwise the compressor will come on more frequently and for longer, resulting in an increase in electricity consumption and also an increase in the operating temperature of the compressor, which can damage it.
Before installing the appliance ^ Take the accessory pack which includes installation parts and other accessories out of the appliance and remove the packaging strap holding the door in place. ^ Do not remove the following from the back of the appliance: – The spacers (depending on model).
Does your old appliance have a different hinging mechanism? If your old appliance had a different type of hinging, the furniture door can still be used. Remove the old hinges from the housing unit. They are no longer required because the furniture door is now fitted to the appliance door.
Before installing the appliance make sure the housing unit is the correct size. Specified ventilation gaps must be maintained in order to ensure that the appliance functions correctly.
The door hinges are set ex-works to enable the door to be opened wide. However, if the opening angle of the door needs to be limited for any reason, the hinge can be adjusted to accommodate this. – If the appliance door fouls an adjacent wall when opened, for example, the opening angle can be limited to 90°.
Two people are needed for changing the door hinging. The appliance is supplied right-hand hinged. If left-hand door hinging is required, follow the instructions below. To change the door hinging you will need the following tools : ^ Open the appliance door.
^ Undo screws d completely. ^ Fit bracket g to the opposite side and loosely fit screws d . ^ Unscrew screws e completely, and loosely screw them into the holes on the opposite side. If you have put locking pins into the hinges to stop the door opening too far: ^ Remove the locking pins from the top of the hinges.
^ Push appliance door f onto pre-fitted screws d and e , and tighten screws d and e securely. ^ Replace covers a , b and c . ^ Replace the locking pins into the top of the hinges to prevent the door opening too far.
Two people are needed for installing this appliance. ^ The appliance must be installed in stable and correctly aligned kitchen furniture on a level surface. ^ The housing unit must be secured against the risk of tipping. ^ Use a spirit level to align the housing unit.
The following installation parts are required All installation parts are number coded. This coding is also used in the installation instructions. – required for installing the appliance in its housing unit: * these parts are only supplied with appliances for niche heights of 140 cm and above.
^ Screw fixing bracket d using hex screw e to the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door. Attach a second pair of fixing brackets d in the handle region of the door. Use the pre-drilled holes in the appliance door. ^ Push the appliance two-thirds of the way into its niche.
^ Remove cover f . ^ Secure part g using screws h loosely into the top left-hand side of the appliance. Do not tighten the screws so that you can adjust the position of this part. ^ Fit stopper i onto fixing bracket j . ^ Screw fixing bracket j using screws k loosely into the bottom of the appliance.
^ Carefully remove the protective foil from sealing strip m . ^ Fix sealing strip m flush with the front of the appliance on the door opening side. 1. Position the sealing strip flush with the lower edge of the top fixing. 2. Stick it down along its entire length.
^ Check the position of the fixing bracket at the top and bottom front edge of the furniture side wall again. This will create a gap all round of 42 mm to the front edges of the housing unit side walls.
^ Push the loose bracket up against the furniture wall. ^ Attach fixing bracket j to the housing unit side wall with screw s . Drill holes in the housing unit side walls if necessary. ^ Secure fixing bracket g to the housing unit side wall with screws t .
Niche height 140 cm and above For additional stability of the appliance in the unit, push the rods supplied in underneath the appliance between it and the floor of the housing unit. ^ Then secure handle v to one of the rods w . ^ Use the handle to push the rod into the guide as far as it will go.
Fitting a furniture door The furniture door must be at least 16 mm thick and not exceed 19 mm thick. The following gap dimensions must be maintained: – The gap between the furniture door and a unit door above must be at least 3 mm. – The vertical gap between furniture doors should also be about 3 mm.
^ A gap of 8 mm is set ex-works between the appliance door and the fixing bracket. Double check this gap and reset it if necessary. ^ Push fitting aids b up to the height of the furniture door: the lower edge X of the fitting aids must be at the same height as the upper edge of the furniture door being fitted (see - on the diagram).
^ Place the furniture door with the outer side downwards on a stable surface. ^ Using a pencil, lightly mark a line down the centre of the inside of the furniture door e . ^ Position fixing bracket d with the fitting aids onto the inside of the furniture door.
^ Open the appliance door. ^ Hang the furniture door onto adjusting bolts h . ^ Loosely attach nuts c on the adjusting bolts. ^ Close the door and check the distance between the door and neighbouring furniture doors. The gap should be even. Aligning the door – Side adjustments (X) ^ Slide the furniture door.
^ Whilst counterholding adjusting bolts h with a screwdriver, tighten nuts c on the appliance door with ring spanner j . ^ Cover strip k must be completely hidden in the niche, and must not protrude. ^ Drill holes l in the furniture door and fit screws m .
^ Tighten all screws again. ^ Replace top cover o , and click it into place. ^ Replace side covers p , making sure you hear them click into place. To make sure the appliance is correctly fitted: – The doors must close properly. – The doors must not touch the housing unit.
