Operating instructions f or condenser tumb le dr y er T 4882 C It is essential to read these operating instructions before installing or using the machine to avoid the risk of accidents or damage to the machine.
Disposal of the packing material The transport and protective packing has been selected from materials which are envir onmentally friendly for disposal and can normally be recycled. Ensure that any plastic wrappings, bags etc. are disposed of safely and kept out of the reach of babies and young children.

Read the operating instructions carefully befor e using this appliance for the first time. They contain important infor mation about the safety , use and maintenance of the appliance. This way you will avoid the risk of accidents and damage to the appliance.
If the connection cable is faulty it must only be replaced by a Miele approved service technician to pr otect the user from danger . In the event of a fault or for cleaning purposes, the machine is on.
Always close the door after use. This way you will avoid the danger of: – children climbing onto or into the dryer or hiding things in it. – pets or other small animals climbing into it. Do not let anyone sit or lean on the door , as this can cause the machine to start tipping up.
Control panel a Display See the following pages for more information. b Short cut buttons For selecting an individual programme quickly . These buttons can be programmed to select your own favourite drying programmes.

Before using f or the first time When the tumble dryer is switched on for the first time, the welcome screen will appear . W elcome screen Welcome! The welcome screen will not appear again after you have entered the time of day , and run an initial programme lasting longer than one hour .

Brief instructions The heading numbered ( A , B , C ...) show the operating sequence and can be used as a brief guide to using your machine. A Sort the laundr y Separate out the washed laundry and sort it according to: . . . the drying level required .
D Select a programme ^ Y ou can select a programme either by: – using the appropriate short cut button to select one of the four most frequently used pr ogrammes ('favourites'), or – by going into the Programme Selection menu. ^ If requir ed, you can then select any Extras and use the Timer from the relevant sub-menu.
Before the end of a pr ogramme There is a cooling down phase at the end of the drying sequence: Cooling down will appear in the display . The programme will not finish until the cooling down phase has been completed. There is no cooling down phase at the end of the following programmes: Woollens handcar e, Smoothing.

Important: If you do not make a selection in the sub-menu within approx. 20 seconds, the display will r evert to the main menu. – Cottons, Minimum iron, A utomatic programmes COTTONS Normal+ Drying levels from Machine iron - Extra dry ^ Use the multi-function selector to select the drying level you want and confirm your selection.
Selecting Extras ^ Press short cut button 1 Extras . COTTONS Normal+ Extras Short Low temp. Back A ^ Use the multi-function selector to select the Extra you want and confirm your selection. The main menu will reappear . Saving a fa v ourite programme All the settings you have selected are now shown in the main menu.
Open the Extras sub-menu COTTONS Normal+ Duration: 1:39 h Extras Timer Y Save Back A HHHH ^ Press short cut button 1 Extras . This opens the Extras sub-menu. Selecting Extras COTTONS Normal+ Extras Short Low temp. Back A ^ Use the multi-function selector to select either Short or Low temp.
Y ou can use the timer to set the end time of a programme, allowing you to make use of night-time economy electricity rates, for example. The programme start can be delayed to start automatically in 30 minute intervals up to a maximum of 24 hours. T o open the Timer sub-men u COTTONS Normal+ Low temp.
Cottons Extra dry Max. load: 5 kg* Fabric type Multi-layered fabrics, which would not be thor oughly dried using the Normal + programme. Notes Do not dry jersey fabrics in the Extra dry programme as they have a tendency to shrink. Extras Short or Low T emp.
Minimum ir on Normal + Max. load: 2.5 kg* Fabric type Minimum iron items made of synthetic or blended fabrics which are not dried adequately in the Normal programme. Extras Short or Low T emp. Minimum ir on Normal ** Max. load: 2.5 kg* Fabric type Minimum iron shirts, blouses, skirts, table cloths etc.
Smoothing Max. load: 2.5 kg* Fabric type – Cottons and linen fabrics. – Minimum iron items made of mixed fibr es, e.g. cottons/ synthetics, such as cotton trousers, jackets, shirts. Notes – Smooths out creasing caused during the spin cycle in the washing machine.
T o cancel a programme ^ Press short cut button 4 Cancel . The items will be cooled down, depending how long they have been dried for and the temperature reached. Finish will appear when you press short cut button 4 Cancel again. ^ Switch the tumble dryer off by pressing the s button.
Programme locking pr events the short cut buttons or the multi-function selector being used while drying is in progr ess. The door is not locked and can be opened at any time.
Emptying the condensed water container The condensed water will be collected in the condensed water container unless the appliance has been fitted with a drain hose (see installation). Empty the condensed water container after every dr ying programme.
Cleaning the fluff filters The fluff which is cr eated by the drying process is collected by the fluf f filters in the door and the door opening. Clean the filters after each drying programme. Cleaning them whilst dry ^ Open the door and pull the fluff filter out of the door as illustrated.
Cleaning them with water If there is a gr eat deal of compacted fluff on any of the filters, they can be removed and cleaned under hot running water . ^ T o remove the fluf f filter from the door holder see previous page. ^ Grip the holder and push the filter in the door opening upwards in the direction of the arr ow to remove it.
Cleaning the condenser unit Detergent residue, hair and fine fluf f from the dryer can get through the fluf f filters and block the condenser unit. Dust from the r oom in which the dryer is installed can also get into the condenser unit and cause a blockage.
^ Pull the condenser unit out of its housing by the handle. Checking the condenser unit ^ Hold the condenser unit up to the light. ^ Check to see if there is any fluf f inside it. The arrows in the illustration above indicate where to look. If you cannot see any fluff: ^ Replace the condenser unit (see following page).
^ Then flush the unit through fr om the front. ^ Check the condenser unit again for any visible fluff and if necessary flush it through again until it has all gone. ^ Remove any soiling still visible inside the housing unit. ^ Also make sure the rubber seals ar e clean.
With the help of the following notes, minor faults in the perfor mance of the appliance, some of which may result fr om incorrect operation, can be put right without contacting the Service Department.

Prob lem P ossible cause Remedy The condenser unit service panel will not shut. The inner cover of the condenser unit has not been locked properly and/or the condenser unit has not been positioned correctly . – Ensure that the condenser unit is positioned correctly and lock the cover .
Prob lem P ossible cause Remedy The programme does not start and the display is dark. No obvious cause. – Have you followed correct procedur e for using the machine? – Is the plug correctly insert.
Changing the lamp Disconnect the machine from the mains electricity supply . ^ Open the door . Y ou will find the interior lamp cover at the top of the drum aperture. ^ Insert the opener under the side edge of the cover as illustrated. ^ T ur n your wrist to make the cover open downwards.
In the event of any faults which you cannot remedy yourself, or if the machine is under guarantee, please contact – your Miele dealer or – the Miele Service Department (see back cover for contact details).

Installation site , Make sure the dryer door can be opened without hindrance after installation. T ransporting the machine to its installation site When moving the machine you can hold it by the lid where it pr otrudes to the rear of the dryer .
Aligning the machine The machine must be perfectly level to ensure safe and pr oper operation. ^ The screw feet can be adjusted to compensate for any unevenness in the floor . , The ventilation gaps in the plinth must not be covered over as this would prevent a suf ficient intake of air .
External condensed water outlet When drying is in progress, condensed water is pumped into the condensed water container through the drain hose at the back of the dryer . The condensed water can also be drained off dir ectly if the machine is installed near a sink, drain outlet etc.
Connection to a sink drain outlet The drain hose can be connected directly to a sink drain outlet. ^ Remove the following from the back of the dryer at the bottom: Adapter 1 and hose clip 3 behind it. ^ Fit adapter 1 to the sink drain outlet using nut 2 .
Electrical connection U .K. All electrical work should be carried out only by a suitably qualified and competent person, in strict accordance with national and local safety regulations. Ensure power is not supplied to the appliance while installation work is being carried out.
If the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this appliance do not correspond with the colour ed markings identifying the terminals of your plug, proceed as follows: ^ The wire which is colour ed .

Settings menu J f or changing standard settings The Settings menu is used to alter the dryer's electronics to suit differ ent requir ements. Settings can be altered at any time.

Time of day First select either a 24 hour or 12 hour clock. Then set the current time of day . T o select a 24 hour or 12 hour c lock SETTINGS Back A TIME OF DAY 24 h clock ... 12 h clock ... ^ Select the clock option you want and confirm your selection.
Drying levels Y ou can alter the dr ying levels for the Cottons and Minimum iron programmes. SETTINGS back A DRYING LEVELS COTTONS ... MINIMUM IRON ... ^ Select a programme and confirm your selection. The bar chart shows you the setting. The machine is delivered with a medium setting set as stan - dard.
Airways indicator Fluff should be r emoved after drying. The Clean fluff filters indicator will remind you to clean the filters when a certain amount of fluff has collected in the filters. Y ou can decide at what level of fluff this r eminder should be given.
Lock The system lock prevents your machine being used without your knowledge. When the system lock has been activated, you have to enter a code after switching the dryer on. Otherwise the dr yer cannot be operated. T o activ ate the lock SETTINGS Back A LOCK Activate .
After the last number has been entered, you must confirm the code with OK. 250 Confirm lock code. OK H Back A H ^ Confirm the code. X Entry OK! Lock active when machine is switched off ^ Switch off the dryer . T o unloc k the machine When the machine is switched on again, the display will request the lock code.
Buzzer A buzzer sounds to let you know the programme has finished. Off = The buzzer is switched off but sounds at maximum volume if there is a fault. Normal = The buzzer sounds at the end of a programme. Loud = The buzzer sounds louder at the end of a programme.
Display contrast There ar e ten differ ent display contrast settings. The display contrast will change as soon as a differ ent setting is chosen. The bar chart shows you the setting. The machine is delivered with a medium setting set as stan - dard. Set display contrast ^ Set the display contrast you requir e.
Stand-by T o save energy , the display goes out after 10 minutes and the Start button flashes slowly . There ar e two options: on (the machine is delivered with this option selected) Stand-by comes on: – if a programme is not selected after the machine has been switched on.
