Economical usage The key to good wash results is fi nding the correct combination of detergent and temperature, and then al lowing the washing machine to optimize their usage through its pr ogramming. Pro- gramme lengths can var y for this rea- son. With the “Hydro matic” system, the drum can revolve at vari ous speeds.
Prep aring the Laundry The headings numbered ( 1 , 2 , 3 ,...) show the operating sequenc e and can be used as a brief gui de. Before washing 1 Prepare the wash load Empty all pockets. Forei gn objects inadvertently left in pockets (e. g. nails, coins, paper clips, etc.
2 Press the “Door” button to open the do or 3 Load the machine Unfold the laundry and place it in the drum. For best resul ts we recommend washing mixed loads consisting of both large and small ite ms. This improves the washing ef fect iveness and he lps distribute the load evenly to keep the machine stable and reduce noise dur- ing spinning.
End of programme After washing 1 T urn the programme selector switch to “Start/Finish” 2 Press the “ON/OFF” button. 3 Press the “Door” button. Do not attempt to remove laundry from the machine if the drum is turning. Y ou may seriously injure yourself.
Changing the programme sequence T o cancel a programme: T urn the programme selector to “Start /Finish”. T o interrupt a programme: Press the “ON/OFF” buttton. T o continue the programme, tur n the machine ba ck on. T o change an incorrectly sele cted programme: T urn the programme selector switch to “Start/Finish”.
Adding detergent Detergent should be added to compart- ment j at the beginn ing of each wash cycle. Miele recommends the use of low-suds- ing detergents, as their c haracteristics allow them to perfor m better in front- loading machines than regular powder or liquid detergents.
Adding fabric softener or star ch If fabric softe ner is desired, it will w ork more ef fectively and be gentler on the clothes if it is dispensed in the final rinse cycle of the wash, rather than in the tumble dryer through the use of sof- tener sheets.
Programmes The run time of front-loading machines is longer tha n that for most top-loading, ver- tical tub machines. Th is is because front-loading machines balanc e the 5 basic washing factors (mechanical action, water , detergent, temperature and ti me) dif- fently than do vert ical tub machines.
PERMANENT PRESS For cotton blend fabrics, polye ster blends and other synthetics such as ac - rylic, nylon and ramie. 1) Water levels used: wash - low rinse - high (to reduce wrinkling) 2) Rinse cycl .
DELICA TES For synthetics, machine washable silks, fine washables commonly washed by hand (e.g. blouses, sweaters, but n ot wool or wool blends), lace o r crocheted (non-woolen) items, cur tains and knit garmen ts.
HANDW ASH/WOOLLENS / For all machine washable wo ollens or hand-washable wool or wool blends, in- cluding blankets and wool mixtur es with cotton or rayon.
Starch For tablecloths, napkins, apr ons, shir ts. max/load: 6.0 kg (13 lbs.) max/spin: 1200 rpm Normal run time: 18 min Spin For spinning wet items not washed i n the machine (hand washed). Such items must be suitable for machine spinning. max/load: 6.
T extile care symbols The textile care symbols on clothing in- dicate the maximum temperature at which the clothing should be w ashed and are a good guideline when choos- ing a programme. In choosing a pro- gramme, it can be taken into account that front-loading machines are gentler on clothing than most top-loading, ver ti- cal tub machine s.
Additional options By selecting one or more pushbutton functions, basic programmes can be tailore d to the type of laundry being washed. When the “Door” button is pressed, all the other buttons spring ou t, and the additional options are cancelled.
Delay start/Time remaining indicator Time display “H:min” The Time display has a dual function. The Delayed start is activated by pressing the button, or; It shows the time remai ning in the wash programme. Delay Start If the “Delay start” lamp is blinking, the start of the programme can be delayed up to 9 hours and 30 minutes.

Step 1: T urn off the machine, close the doo r , and release all pushbutto ns. Set the progam selector switch to “Start/Finish”. Step 2: Carry out steps 2 and 3 within 4 seconds . Press the “ON/OFF” button Step 3: Press the “W ater plus” button 4 times (i.
Step 4 : Select the function desir ed: Desired function: A High water level Set the programme selector to “Rinse”. Continue with Step 5 to activate. B 5th rinse cycle Set the programme selector to “Drain”. Continue with Step 5 to activate. C No water intake through compartment i Set the programme selector to “Starch” .
E Additional rinse in Rapid wash Set the programme selector to “HANDW ASH/WOOLLENS 30°”. Continue with Step 5 to activate. Step 5: activate the function Press the “W ater plus” button twice (i.e. in and out once) to toggle the function “ON/OFF”.
T o check if the function has been stored: Carry out S t e p s1t o4 . If the “Rinse 1-2” lamp lights up, the programmable function is activated. Press the “ON/OFF” button.
USER MAINTENANCE Cleaning and care Cleaning the washing machine Clean the ca sing with a mild non- abrasive detergent or soap and water Wipe dry with a soft cloth. Clean the control panel with a damp cloth and dr y with a soft cloth. The drum can be c leaned using a stainless steel cleaner according to the manufacturer’ s instructions.
Cleaning the fluff (drain) filter and pump Check the fluff (d rain) filter initially after 3-4 washes to ascer tain how often it is likely to require cleaning. With nor mal cleaning approx. 2 litres of water run out. If the drain outlet is clogged, mor e water will be retained in the machine (up to 25 litres) .
Once the flow of water ceases, remove the fl uff filter completel y . Clean the fluf f filter thoroughl y . Remove any foreign obj ects (e.g. buttons, coins, etc.) and fluf f. T urn the impeller by han d to check that it is free to r otate. Any foreign ob- jects causin g an obstructio n should be removed.
Cleaning the water inlet filters. The washing machine has two water inlet filters to pr otect each inlet valve. T o clean the filter in the inlet hose: T urn off the valve. Careful ly unscrew the inl et hose from the valve by turning the connector counterclockwise using a wrench if necessar y .
Problem solving guide Any work done on the electrical components of this appliance should only be performed by a qualified and trained person in accordance with all local and national codes and regulations. Unauthorized repairs may result in personal injury and damage to the machine.

Insufficient detergent was us ed to break down the particles of grease in heavily soiled laundry . – Add more deterg ent. – Before washing the next load run a COTTONS 50°C progra mme with detergent but without a load to cle an the machine.
Opening the drum door in the event of a power failure T o prevent water from spilling onto the floor , make cer tain the mac hine is drained before opening the door . T urn off the washing machine. Open the lint trap door and dr ain off any water as described in the sec- tion on cleaning and c are.

INST ALLA TION INSTRUCTIONS Installation surface Experience has shown that a concrete floor is the most suitable surface for a washing machine. Concr ete floors are far less prone to vi bration during the spin cycle than wooden floors. Please note the follow ing points: The machine must be level and se- curel y positioned.
Withdraw the two struts together with the support plate. Plug the two holes with the plastic caps supplied. The machine should not be moved with- out the transit struts in place. The transit fitting should be stor ed in a safe place for futur e use. It must be reinstalled befor e the ma- chine moved.
Levelling the machine T o ensure smooth operation, it is essen- tial that the machine is level. Failur e to level the machine can r esult in the mach ine “banging” in the spin cycle or “walki ng” acr oss the floo r dur- ing operat on. Energy and wa ter use will also increase.
T ry to rock the machine diagonally to find which diagonal is firmer . If the di- agonal from fr ont left to rear right is less firm, extend the fr ont left leg. Ad- just only t he front left leg until bot h di- agonals have the same stif fness. When finished, tur n and lock the counter nut on the front left leg.
Any residual water left in the machine from the factory test- ing process can be flushed out as follows: Do not put any laundry in the ma- chine. Add a small amount of detergent to compar tment j . T urn on the machine. Press the “Rapid wash” button.
Plumbing Connect the cold water supply hose (marked blue) to the cold water tap and the warm water supply hose (marked red) to the warm water tap. T urn on taps and ch eck for leakage. The water pressur e must be within the 0.1-1 MPa (14 – 140 psi) range.
Electrical connection GROUNDING INSTRUCTIONS This appliance must be grounded. In the event of a malfunction or break- down, grounding will reduce the risk of electric shock by providing a path of least resistance for the electric current. This appliance is equipped with a cor d having an equipment grounding con- ductor and plug.
“DOUBLE RECEPT ACLE” Miele offers a “Double Receptacle” which will allow you to use a standar d dryer , 4 wire, 30A outlet that most laundr y rooms already have.
