EN - 5 1. DANGER! Danger! ONL Y use clean-out tool to clear blockages. NE VER use your hand s. Never d irect discharge towards pers ons or property that may be injured or damaged by thrown objects. Keep people away from unit while operating. Keep children out of wor k area and under watchful care of a responsible adult.
EN - 6 EMISSION CONTROL SYS TEM This equipment and/or its engine may include exhaust and evaporat ive emissions control system components required to meet U.S. Environmental Protection Agenc y (EP A) and/or California Air Resources Board (CARB) regulations.
EN - 7 DO NOT overload th e machine cap acity by attempting to operate or to clear snow at too fast a rate. Slow down and tur n corners slowly . Do not opera te in reverse unl ess absolutely necessary . AL WA YS back up slowly . Always look down and behind before a nd while backing.

EN - 9 ASSEMBLY T ools Req uired: • Pliers • Open-End Wrenches: 3/8", 7/16", 1/ 2", 9/16" and/or Adjust able Wrench •T i r e G a u g e • T orque Wrench (Optional) Unfold Lower Hand lebar (Figure 4) 1. Remove wheel pins from eac h side of the unit and slide wheels away from frame (Figure 4).
EN - 10 Unfold Upper Handleb ar Assembly (Figure 7) 1. Rotate the handlebar int o operating position. NOTICE: Be careful not to damage cable spring hooks when rotating handlebar upward. . 2. Install the remaining handlebar hardware attaching the upper handlebar assembly to t he lower handlebar (Figure 5).
EN - 11 INST ALL DISCHAR GE CHUTE AND DISCHARGE CHU TE CRANK (Figures 10 and 1 1) 1. Grease underside of discharge chute ring (if not already greased). 2. Remove mounting hardware from auger housing. 3. Install discharge c hute over opening in the auger housing.
EN - 12 Inst all Remote Deflector Cable (920014, 020, 021) (Figures 12 and 13) 1. Pull rubber seal cap away from snap fitting (Figure 12). . 2. Install snap fitting into cable bracket ’ s mounting hole located und er the control panel. 3. Position rubber seal cap over the top of snap fitting.
EN - 13 8. Install cable into clip on top of discharge chute pedestal (Figure 13). . 9. Make sure deflector cable loops above gear cover between cable clip and c able support bracket (Figure 13). 10. T est controls to be sure deflector works properly .

EN - 17 CONTROLS AND FEA TURES See Figures 14, 15 and 16 for all Controls and Features locat ions. Dual Handle Interlock When Attachment Clutch and then T raction Drive Clutch are engaged, the Attachment Clutch will remain engaged (leve r down) if released.
EN - 18 Forward: (6) Fastest (1) Slowest Reverse: (1) Slow (2) Fast IMPORT ANT : DO NOT change motion from forward to revers e with clutch engaged. Forward speed can be changed without declutching. Fuel Shut-Off V alve IMPORT ANT : The fuel shut-off valve M UST be in the closed position prior to transporting the unit.
EN - 19 2. Wait for impeller blades t o stop rotating completely . 3. Remove the snow clean- out tool (1) from the auger housing and use it to remove the clog from the discharge chute. 4. Replace the snow clean-out tool on the auger housing. 5. Reconnect spark plug wire, and re start engine.
EN - 20 Scraper Blade The scraper blade allows the back of t he housing to keep better contact wit h the surface being c leared. It also prevents damage to the hous ing from wear . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow Scraper Blade to wear too far or Auger/Impeller housing will become damaged.
EN - 21 IMPORT ANT : DO NOT OVERF ILL! This equipment and/or its engine may include evaporative emissions contro l system components, required to meet EP A and/or CARB regulations, that will only function properly when the fuel t ank has been filled to the recomm ended level.
EN - 22 6. 920014, 020 – Insert key into igniti on switch on engine and rotate int o "Run" position. 920013, 021 – Insert key into ignition switch on engine and push into "Run" position. DO NOT twist key aft er it is inserted. 7.
EN - 23 T RAVELIN G T o travel from one work area to another: 1. 920013, 014, 021 – Press down on handlebars enough to raise front of unit slightly off surface. 920020 – Place t he unit in the Up (Transport) position (see T rack Ang le on page 19).
EN - 24 MAINTENANC E SCHEDULE The chart below shows the recommended maintenance schedule that should be performed on a regular basis. More frequent service may be required. CHECK DUAL HANDLE IN TERLO CK Without the engine running, press down (engage) both clutch levers.
EN - 25 T o ensure adequate lubricant level: 1. Remove oil fill plug and seal w asher (Figure 21). Lubricant must be 1.63 – 1.88" (4.14 – 4.78 cm) from the flat surface of the gear case cover . IMPORT ANT : DO NOT remove the gear case cover .
EN - 26 GENERAL LUBRICATION (Figures 23 and 24) IMPORT ANT : Wipe each fitting clean before and after lubrication. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT allow grease or oil to get on friction disc, f riction plate or belts. NOTICE: Apply Ariens Hi-T emp Grease or equivalent to the lubrication f ittings.

EN - 28 SCRAPER BLADE IMPORT ANT : Damage to housing will result if blade wears down t oo far . Scraper blade is adjustable to compensate for wear . T o adjust scraper blade: 1. Tip unit back onto handlebar , support housing and loosen nuts ret aining blade.
EN - 29 REMOTE DI SCHARGE DEFLECTOR CONTROL ADJUSTMENT (920014, 020, 021) (Figures 28 and 29) Deflector must stay in selected position while th rowi ng s n ow . If deflector does not stay in set position: 1. Tighten nut beneath control panel to increase press ure on deflector co ntrol (Figure 28).
EN - 30 DISCHARGE CHUTE (Figure 30) If discharge chute does not stay in position while operating, tighten nut on carriage bolt at pivot point to increase tension on spring. SP EED SELECT OR ADJUSTMENT (Figure 31) T o adjust: 1. Disconnect adjustment pivot pin from speed select or arm.
EN - 31 2. Loosen hardware securing belt cover to unit. NOTICE: DO NOT completely remove t he hardware from unit. 3. Remove belt cover . 4. Loosen jam nut on cable adjustment barrel, and then turn the adjustment barrel down to shorten cable and remove all c able slack (Figure 32).
EN - 32 • If roller is more than 7/8" ( 22.2 mm) from frame, loosen idler adjustment nut and move idler away from the belt. T ighten adjustment n ut and recheck roller clearance (Figure 35) . Check At t achme nt Brake (Figure 36) 1. With t he attachment clutch lever disengaged, brake pad must contact attachment belt.
EN - 33 T RACTION DRIVE CLUTCH ADJUSTMENT If drive slip s, adjust traction clutch to compensate for friction disc wear . 1. Loosen jam nut on traction ca ble adjustment barrel. Turn adjustment barrel down to shorten cable and remove all c able slack. 2.
EN - 34 8. Run in the attachment belt. See Run-in Attac hmen t Be lt on page 13. 9. Replace belt c over and tighten hardware. T RACTION DRIVE BELT REPLA CEMENT (Figure 41) NOTICE: Housing and frame must be tipped apart and attachment drive belt removed from engine sheave in order to change traction drive belt.
EN - 35 6. Install new traction drive belt. 7. Swing dr ive plate toward friction disc until finger lines up w ith stop hole in frame. Slide the drive plate over , inserting the finger into the stop hole. 8. Reinstall swing gate spacer . 9. Reinstall traction idler spring.
EN - 36 1 1. R emove old friction disc . Put the new friction disc in place, cup side to carrier bearing. 12. R einstall three screws into new friction disc and car rier bearing. T orque to 5 – 6 lbf-ft. (6.8 – 8.1 N •m). 13. Insert new friction disc assembly into frame.
EN - 37 T RACTION T ENSION ADJUSTMENT (920020) (Figures 45 and 46) Check the track tension by applying pressure on the track mi dway between the upper and rear track rollers. Deflection should be approximately 3/8" (9.5 mm) (Figure 45). If deflection is excessive, tighten the track tension.
EN - 38 SHORT T ERM IMPORT ANT : NEVER spray unit with high pressure wa ter or store unit outdoors. Run with attachment clutch engag ed a few minutes after each use to free unit of any loose or melting snow . Close fuel shut-off valve. Inspect unit for v isible signs of wear , breakage or damag e.
EN - 39 TROUBLESHOOTING PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE CORRECTION Engine wi ll not crank/ start. 1. F uel tank is empty . 2. F uel shut-off valve closed. 3. Build up of dirt and residue around governor/carburetor . 4. Key Switch not in run position. 5. Electric starter not functioning.
EN - 40 Unit throws snow poo rly or does not throw snow . 1. Shea r bolts broken. 2. Attachment clutch/brake not adjusted properly . 3. Im peller is frozen in place. 4. Ic e or debris is obstructing auger . 5. Attachment drive belt slipping, worn or damaged.
