W ar ning and Saf ety Instr uctions The Miele "W aterproof system" pro- tects fr om water damage whe n: – The machine is correctly plumbed in. If a fault has been identified, the ma- chine must be examined by a co mpe- tent pe rson befo re furthe r use.
W ar ning and saf ety instr uctions If the co rrect amo unt of detergen t is dispe nsed, th e machine sh ould not need to be descale d. If, however , you do w ish to des cale the machine only use proprietar y non-corrosive de- scaling agents a nd strictly observe th e instructio ns.
Help to protect our en vironment Disposal of the packing material The trans port an d protective packing is mostly manufactured fr om th e following re cycled or re -useable mate rials: – corrugated.
W ashing en vironmentally and economically Caring for the environment means sav- ing water , energy and detergent wh en washing but witho ut compromising on re sults. The key to a good w ash result is finding the best combination of amount of detergent, tempera ture, leng th of pro- gramme and the machine’ s technology .
Ho w to wash correctly The headings n umbered ( 1 , 2 , 3 ,... ) show the operating sequence and ca n be used as a brief guide. Before washing 1 Prepare the wash load Empty all pockets. Foreign objects (e.g. nails, coins, paper clips etc) can cause dama ge to textiles an d components in the machine.
Ho w to wash correctly Curtains: Remove lead weights and strips or place in a laundry bag. Any loose wiring in bras etc.,sho uld be removed or swen in. Woollens and knitte d garments: T ur n inside o ut, if the manufact urer rec- ommends it. 3 Close the drum door Make sur e that ther e is no obstruction between the drum door and seal.
Changing the progr amme sequence Stopping a pr ogramme T ur n the programme selector to “Fin- ish/Star t”. Interrupting a programme Press t he “I-ON/0-OFF” buttto n. Adding or removing w ashing after progr amme star t W ashing can be added o r removed after the programme has already start ed, when usin g the following pro- grammes: – COTTONS – MINIMUM IRON – QUICK WASH 40°C Press the “Door” button in and hold it until the door springs open.
Adding detergent All moder n detergents produced for automatic washing ma chines are suit- able, includin g liquid, compact (con- centrated) and special application detergents. Use dispensing aids, e.g. balls, if these are supplied with the detergent.

Cleaning and care Cleaning the washing machine Clean the casing with a mild non-ab- rasive detergent o r soap and water . Wipe d r y with a so ft cloth. Clean the facia pa nel with a damp cloth and d r y with a soft c loth. The drum ca n be cleane d using a suitable proprietary stainless steel cleaner .
Cleaning and care Cleaning the fluff filter and pump Check t he fluff filter initially aft er 3 - 4 washes to ascertain how often i t is likely to require cleaning. The opener for the fluff filter panel is on the side of the detergent dispe nser drawer towar ds the r ear .
Cleaning and Care Once the fl ow of water ceases, remove the fluff filter comple tely and clean it. Remove any foreign bodies (e.g. but- tons, co ins, etc.) a nd fluf f. T ur n the im peller by hand to ch eck that it is free to rotate . Any forei gn ob- jects ca using an obst ruction s hould be removed.

Open th e drain pu mp/fluff filter pan el and drain off any water as described in the Section on Cleaning and ca re. Pull the rin g of the door mechanism downwards, the door will open.

Installation Installation surface Experi ence has shown that a concr ete floor is the most suitable installation sur - face for a washing machine. Co ncrete floors are far less pr one to vibration dur- ing the spin cycle than woo den floor- boar ds or a surface with "soft " prope r- ties.
Installation T urn the right-han d transit bar 90°clockw ise. Withdraw the two bars together with the support plate. Plug the two holes with the plastic caps supplied. The machin e should n ot be mov ed with- out the t ransit fitting in place. The transit fitting should be st ored in a safe place for futur e use.
Installation Levelling the mac hine The machine must be perfect ly level to ensure safe and proper operation. Incorrect inst allation may increase water an d electricity consumptio n.
Installation Flush out any residual test water still in the machine as f o llows: Do not load the mach ine. Add a little detergen t to compar t- ment j . Switch on th e machine. Select the “COTTONS 60°C” pro- gramme. Press t he “Short wash” selector .
Plumbing Connection to water supply Fitting The machine s hould be conne cted to a mains wa ter supply in accordance wit h standard regulations. The Ger man auth- orities do not require it to h ave a .
The connec tion point is subject to mains wate r pressur e. T urn on the stopcock s lowly and check f or leaks. Corr ect the position of the washer and union if appropriate. The "W ate rpr oo f system" is NOT suit- able for co nnection to a hot water supply .
Plumbing Importa nt! The plas tic casing o f the wat er connec - tion cont ains an elec tric compo nent. Do not dip into li quids! 39.
Plumbing Connection to the drainage system The machine drains via a drain pump with a deliver y head of 1 metre. The hose mu st not be kinked as this re- stricts drainage. The swivel elbow at the end of the hose ca n be turned in either direc tion, or ca n be detached if requir ed with a sharp twist and pull.
Electrical connection This machine is s upplied ready for con- nection to an a.c. single phas e 230 - 240 V , 50 Hz su pply . The machine is supplied with a 2 m long mains cable with moulded plu g. The volt age, rated load and fu se rating are given on the data pl ate.
Progr ammab le functions The following programmable fu nctions can be ac tivated by the user . A function stays programmed in me m- ory until it is c ancelled.
Progr ammab le functions T o switch on the pr ogrammable functions: N.B.: First swi tch off the machine, c lose the do or , r elease all p ushbutton switc hes and set the pr ogramme selector switch to “Finish/Star t”. Steps 2 t o 4 must be carried out within 25 Seconds : Step 1: Press in the “Soak” and “Short wash” buttons.
