SPLIT -TYPE AIR CONDITIONERS OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS OPERA TING INSTR UCTIONS For customers • T o use this unit correctly and saf ely , be sure to read this operating instructions before use.
2 • This air conditioner is NO T intended for use b y children or infirm persons without supervisions. Do not use intermediate connection of the power suppl y cord or the extension cord and do not connect many de vices to one A C outlet.
3 Do not use the unit for special purposes. • Do not use this air conditioner to preserve precision devices, food, animals, plants and art objects. This may cause deterior ation of quality , etc. Do not put a stove, etc. where the y are exposed to direct airflow .
4 (This diagram shows an overall view .) NAME OF EA CH P AR T Remote controller PREP ARA TION BEFORE OPERA TION A uto restart function ■ These models are equipped with an auto restart function. If y ou do not want to use this function, please consult the service representative because the setting of the unit needs to be changed.
5 Remote controller How to set the batteries and the current time 1 Remove the front lid and insert batteries. Then reattach the front lid. Insert the minus pole of the batteries first. Check if the polarity of the batteries is correct. 2 Press the RESET button.
6 T o select the AUT O mode: 1 Press the ON/OFF button. 2 Select the (A UTO) mode b y pressing the MODE button. Each time this button is pressed, the operation mode is changed in sequence: (A UT O) → (COOL) → (DR Y) → (HEA T) The set temperature is also display ed on the remote controller.
7 T o select the COOL, DR Y or HEA T mode: 1 Press the ON/OFF button. 2 Select the operation mode by pressing the MODE button. Each time this button is pressed, the operation mode is changed in sequence: (A UT O) → (COOL) → (DRY) → (HEA T) T o stop operation: ■ Press the ON/OFF button.
8 AIR FLO W VELOCITY AND DIRECTION ADJUSTMENT ■ T o change the horizontal direction of the air flow , mo ve the ver tical v ane manually . Adjust the vane before operation starts. Since the horizontal vane mo ves automatically , y our fingers may be caught.
9 ECONO COOL OPERA TION Use this operation when y ou want to be comfortable in COOL mode even with energy sa ved. Perf orm the following operations while the unit is operat- ing in the MANU AL COOL mode .
10 CLEANING THE CA TECHIN AIR FIL TER Cleaning the catechin air filter (about once every 2 weeks) 3 After washing with water/lukewarm water , dr y the catechin air filter well in the shade. • Do not expose the catechin air filter to direct sun- light or heat from a fire when drying it.
11 1 Remove the catechin air filter (left one). The air cleaning filter is not attached to the right side catechin air filter . 2 Pull up the tabs on both sides of the air clean- ing filter with your finger and remove the air cleaning filter (blue bellows type) from the catechin air filter .
12 4 Clean the air outlet and fan of the indoor unit. (Make sure the fan has stopped.) • Be careful not to injure your hands. • If the air outlet or fan is dirty , moldy , or dusty , clean with a wet or dry soft cloth or with the brush of QUICK CLEAN KIT which is installed to a vacuum cleaner .
13 BEFORE CONT A CTING THE SER VICE REPRE- SENT A TIVE, CHECK THE FOLLO WING A GAIN Question The air conditioner cannot be operated for about 3 min- utes when restarted. Cracking sound is hear d. The air from the indoor unit smells strange. The fan of the outdoor unit does not rotate even though the compressor is running.
14 INST ALLA TION, RELOCA TION AND INSPECTION Installation place Av oid installing the air conditioner in the follo wing places. • Where flammable gas could leak. CA UTION: Do not install the unit where flammable gas could leak. If gas leaks and collects around the unit, it may cause an explosion.
