(Hardwar e pack may contain extra ite ms which are not used on your unit.) NOTE: The augers are se cure d to the spiral shaft with two she ar bolts and hex loc k nuts.
7 SECTION 5: ASSEMBLY NOTE: All ref erenc es to right or le ft side of the sn ow thrower are determi ned from behind the uni t in the operating po sitio n. A TT A CHING THE HA NDLE ASSEMBL Y (H ardware A) 1. Place right ha ndle in po sition a gainst the snow thrower s o the flat side o f the handl e is agai nst the sno w thrower.
8 A TT A CHING THE CH UTE ASSEMBL Y (H ardware C) Place ch ute assembl y over chute ope ning, with the opening in the c hute assembl y facin g the front of the unit. Place chute f lange kee pers be neath lip of chute assembl y, with the flat side down.
9 3. Start thr eading th e ferrul e onto the o ther end o f the shift rod . Pus h down on th e shift r od (and s hift arm assemb ly) as far as it will go. 4. Thread the ferrule ont o the shift rod until the fer- rule lines up wit h the upper hole in the shift lever (beneath t he hand le panel) .

11 CHUTE DIREC TIONAL CONTROL The chute d irectio nal control is locate d on le ft hand side of t he sno w thrower . See Figure 14. To change the directi on in wh ich snow is th rown, tur n chute directiona l control as fol lows: 1. Cra nk clockwise to d ischarge t o the left.
12 10. Pu ll star ter handl e rapidl y. Do n ot allow h andle to snap ba ck. A llow it to rewi nd slowly wh ile keeping a firm hold o n the star ter hand le. 11. Rep eat step 10 until engine star ts. 12. As en gine warms up and beg ins to opera te evenly, rotate chok e knob s lowly to OFF pos i- tion.
13 2. Squee ze the auger contro l and the augers wil l turn. Rel ease it an d the au gers will stop. 3. Squee ze the traction c ontrol and the snow thrower w ill move. R eleas e it and driv e motion will stop. 4. NEVER mo ve sh ift lever without r eleasi ng trac- tion cont rol.
14 TRA CTION CONTR OL ADJUSTMENT Refer to the FINA L ADJUSTMENT section of the Assemb ly Instr uctio ns to adjust the tra ction con trol. If you are unce rtain that yo u have reache d the correct adjustm ent, the adjustme nt can be physicall y checked as fol lows.
15 AU G E R S H A F T At lea st once a s eason, r emove s hear bolt s on aug er shaft. Oil or sp ray lub ricant inside s haft. A lso lubri - cate the a uger b earings at least once a s eason.
16 AU G E R B E L T S NOTE: It is necessary to remo ve both belts in order to chang e eithe r one. If c hanging j ust one be lt, be cer - tain to c heck the conditio n of the other bel t (model 600/61 0E has only one au ger belt ) . 1. Remove th e plas tic belt cove r on th e front of the engin e by rem oving the two sel f-tappin g screw s.
