5 KEYPAD CONTROLS & INDIC ATORS Window. Dis plays sy stem status messages, zone descriptions, etc. STATUS Light. Lights (gr een) to indicate tha t the s ystem is read y for a rming. If a zone is not secured the light will be off and the zone w ill display in the window.

If y ou attempt t o arm with a fault ed Priority Zone , a 3-s eco nd tone wi ll sound at the keypad, and "CAN'T/ArmZnF" w ill display in the w indow, i ndicating that the troubl e(s) must be c orrected be f ore the p anel can be ar m ed.
8 S E T T I N G T H E AL AR M ( AR M I N G ) W H E N L E AVI N G If you attempt to arm with a “TROUBLE” disp lay (alternating with a s ystem trouble error code) , a 3- second tone w ill sou nd at the key pad. (See S YS TEM TROUBLE E RROR CODE S for de scription s of code s).
9 B ypassing Inte rior Zo nes Interior Zones, when bypassed, allo w free movement within the pre mises while the protection of armed perime ter zones is maintained. If E is pressed, all interior Zones will be bypas sed upon arming. (OPTIONAL) Some control panels (such as the GEM-P9 600) have prov isions for TW O groups of Interior Zones.
10 PROTECTING YOURSELF WHILE ON TH E PREMISES Instant Protection W hen re tir ing fo r th e e veni ng, af ter all f amil y mem be rs a re home , you c an can cel the entry delay on t he Entry Zone(s). Then, w hen ar m ed, op ening the ent ry doo r wi ll cause an immediate alarm.
11 Disarmi ng the System 1 Upon entry, the k eypad sounder will pulse as a reminder to disarm the panel. The red ARMED light will be on and the window will al t ernately display "D ISARM" and "XXXSEC", where "XXX" represents the entry time remaining in 10-second steps.

13 FIRE PROTECTION (Applicable only where local ordinance permits use of this alarm contro l panel for fire protection.) Fire -Zone Alarm If a fire is detect ed, “reset FIRE ALARM” will be di splayed and t he keypad sounder will pulse.
14 FIRE PROTECTION Preparing a Fire Escape Plan Even w ith the m ost a dvan ced fi re alarm system, adequat e protect ion requires an esca pe plan . To prepare your plan, draw floor plans of your building. (Space is provided on the next page). Show two exits - a front or back door and a window from each room.

16 FIRE PROTECTION Although a fi re alarm s ystem may be of a reliable and state-of- the-art design, neither it nor its peripheral detection dev ices can offer guaranteed protection against fire.
17 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS The keypad can provide access to a w ide assortment of utility functions. The f unctions are displaye d in a promptin g “YES/NO” format. While the messages are shown here in their entirety , actual displays will scroll automa tically in t wo screens.

19 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS A ctivate Chime? "MONITOR ON" will be d isplayed and the Chime Mode will sou nd a t one at the keypad when the programmed zon e is open ed while disarmed. To deactivate the Chime Mode, ex ecute the "TurnOff Chime" function.
20 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS Delay A rming 1-4 hour s. (Not for UL-liste d sys tems). Y our sys tem may be set to arm aut omatically af ter a del ay peri od of 1 to 4 hours, 15 m inut es, as follow s: For a 1 -hour, 1 5-minute d elay , press 1 , then D . For a 2 -hour, 1 5-minute d elay , press 2 , th en D .
21 KEYPAD FUNCTIONS Disp la y RF Trans mit ter St atus ? (OPTIONAL) (For systems that include wireless trans- mitt ers). Press YES to check the status and condition of all transmitters. First the number of wireless po ints (WL PNT) will displa y. Use NEXT and PRIOR Buttons to sc roll forward or back.

25 PROGRAMMING (OPTION AL) Int roduct ion The Program Mode (o ptional) is used to cust omize User Codes. Access to the Program Mode requi res a special Us er Code, therefore not all users may have the ability to program. Notes: 1. 26 PROGRAMMING (OPTION AL) 5. Enter the new User Code using the number buttons. If an old co de is displayed, simp ly program over it. To erase the d igit at the cursor, press G , then 0 . Note: Pressing A again will dis- play non-programmable "OPT ion" and "ACCes s" sc reen s.
27 PROGRAMMING (OPTION AL) Programming Example: Program the User 3 Code to “3784”: 1. Select the Program Mo de as follows: (a) Enter your User Code, followed by A . (b) Answer NO (press F ) repeatedly until “ TurnOn Prog Yes/No” is displayed, then press YES ( E ).
28 KEYPAD MESS A GES The keypad can display the following funct ional messages . Many are two-line messages; hol d down G to display the sec ond line. (In this booklet, both are sh own simultaneous ly for conv enience). Other diagnostic mes sages are available for the insta ller or servic er.

30 KEYPAD MESS A GES ( With pulsi ng sounder ). Trouble condit ion on a Day Zone (zone numbers will scroll). Press C to silence sounder. Note: Watch Mode must be active. Alarm Condition, followed by zone number(s). "ALARM" and zones will display after s ys- tem is disarmed.
31 KEYPAD MESS A GES Indicates probl em(s) detected on the system (see below ). Check power transformer. Check for blown fuse or circuit breaker; general powe r out age. Battery weak. If not rec harged within 24 hours, replac e battery. Communica tion f ailure to central st ation.
32 GLOSSARY Following are brief descriptions of terms and features used herein that may be unf amiliar to you. Some of the f eatures are programmable options that may or may not a pply to your parti cular system. Abort De la y - A delay period that allows the control panel to be reset, thus aborting a report to a central station.
