5 Intr oduction Y our new digit al projec tor provides three co mputer and th ree video inputs and ha s XGA 1024x 768 resoluti on. Optio nal user-chan geable s hort and lo ng thr ow lenses make this a flexib le produc t suitable for many dif ferent uses.
6 Connec tor P anel The pr ojector pro vides three computer and thr ee video connector s: • one M1-D (HD, DVI, and computer) • two VESA (HD, HD component, and computer) •o n e c o m p o n e n t .
7 Connecting a computer Required compute r connections Connect one end of the computer cable to the Computer 2 connector on the proj ector . Connect the other end to the video port on your computer . If you are using a desktop computer , you first need to disconnect the monitor cable fr om the computer ’s video port.
8 If you are using a desktop computer and want to s ee the image on your computer screen as well as on t he projection s creen, plug the mon itor cable to the Monitor out conn ector on the proj ector .
9 Displa ying a com puter image Remove the lens cap. Press the power switch to positio n “1” on the back of the proje ctor , then press the Po w e r button on t he top of the pr ojector or the r emote. The LED fla shes green and the fans s tart to run.
10 First-time pr ojector use with Windo ws 98 The first time you connect a computer ru nning W indows 98 to t h e projector , the computer recognizes the pr ojector as “new har dware” and the Add Ne w Ha rdw are W iz ard app ea rs.
11 Skip th is pag e if y ou did not co nnect a USB mouse c able F or Windo ws 98: • If you conn ected the USB cable, the Add New Har dware W izard appears a gain. Drivers m ust be inst alled to use the USB func tionality . • The Wizar d laun ches tw o times .
12 Adjusting the imag e Adjust the height of th e projector , if necessa ry , by pr essing the r elease but - ton to extend the elevator foot . Rotate th e leveling f o ot (lo cated at the bo ttom back ri ght corner) , if neces- sary . Position the projector the desir ed distance fr om the screen at a 9 0 degree angle to the screen.
13 Connecting a video de vice Standard v ideo conne ctions Plug the audio/ video (A/V) cable’s yell ow connector into the vid eo-out connector on the vide o device. Plug the other ye llow connector into the ye l- low Video 2 connect or on the pr ojector .
14 Displa ying a video ima g e Remove the lens cap. Press t he power switch to position “1” on the back of the projector , then press the Po w e r button on the top of the pr ojector . The LED flash es green and the fans star t to run. When the lamp comes on, the star tup screen is display ed and the LE D is steady green.
15 Adjust the zoom or focus rin gs by rotating them until the desir ed image size and fo cus are produc ed. If the image is not squar e, adjust th e vertical keystone using the butt ons on the keypad. Press the uppe r Ke y s t o n e b utton to reduce the upper part of the imag e, and pr ess the lower Key s t o n e button to r educe the lower part.
16 Shutting do wn the pr ojector The projector auto matically bl anks the screen aft er no active s our ce is detected for 3 0 minutes. This blank screen helps preserve the life of the pr o- jector . The image ret urns when an act ive source is detected or a r emote or keypad b utton is pr essed.

25 Using the remote contr o l The r emote uses two (2) pr ovided AAA batteries. Th ey are ea sily installed by slidi ng the cov er off t he remot e’s back, aligning the + and - ends of the batteries , sliding t hem into plac e, and then replacin g the cover .
26 Using the audio T o pla y sound from the project or , co nnect your so urce to the Audio In c on- nector on the pr oj e ctor . T o adjust the volume, use the buttons on the keypad or r emot e. T o adjust the b ass, treble, b alance, or loudness, use the Audio menu (see page 33).
27 Optimizing computer images After your comput er is connected pr operly and the computer ’s image is on the scre en, you can optimize t he image using the onscreen menus. For gen- eral info rmation on using t he menus, see page 29. • Adjus t the Keys tone, Cont rast, or Bright ness in the Picture menu.
28 Optimizi ng video ima ge s After the video dev ice is connec ted proper ly and the image is on t he scr een, you can optimize the image using the onscreen menus. For general informa- tion on using the menus, s ee page 29. • Adj ust the Ke ystone, Con trast, Bright ness, Colo r , or T int in the Pictur e menu.
29 Using the menus T o open the menu s, pr ess the menu butt on on the keyp ad or r emote . (The menus a utomatically cl ose after 60 sec onds if no bu ttons are pressed. ) The Main menu appears. Use the arrow buttons to move up and down to high - light t he desired submenu, then press th e Selec t button.
30 Picture menu T o adjust the followi ng six settings, highligh t the setti ng, press Selec t , use the up an d down arr ows to adj ust the values, t hen press select to confirm the c hanges. Ve r t i c a l K e y s t o n e : adjusts the image vertic ally and m akes a squa rer i mage.
31 Presets : The pr ovided Pr esets optimize the pr ojector for display ing com- puter pr esentation s, photographs, film imag es, and video images. (Film input is material or iginally ca ptured o n a film camera , like a mov ie; video input is material or iginally ca ptured o n a video came ra, like a T V show or sporting event.
32 Advanced settings Sharpness : (video sources only ) changes the clari ty of the edge s of a video image. Select a sha rpness sett ing. Color S pace : This option applies to compu ter and componen t video sour ces. It allows yo u to sel ect a colo r space that has been spec ifically tu ned for the video in put.
33 Settings menu Audio : allow s adjustmen ts to th e volume, ba ss, treb le and bala nce. Also allows you t o turn on and of f Loudness (whic h boosts the highe r and lower frequen cies), the Intern al speakers, and projector start up Chime.
34 Screen Sav e : automatically blanks th e screen after no signals are det ected for five mi nutes. The im age ret urns when an active sou rce is de tected or a rem ote or keypad button is pressed. S creen S ave is disabled when Po wer Save i s enable d .
35 Effect K ey : allows you to assign a diffe rent f unction to the Effect button on the re mote to quickly and ea sily use the ef fect. Only one effect can be enabled at a time. H ighlight a n effect and press Selec t to choose a differe nt one. Blank : shows an e mpty scre en.
36 Network : The projector has an RJ45 Ether net connector that su pports net- work connections and TCP/IP protocols. Th is will allow for the control and management of th e projector over a corporate networ k. The following fields are accessible when DHCP is not ch ecked and available for manual entry of data.
37 Maintenance Cleaning the lens 1 Apply a non-abra sive camer a lens clea ner to a soft, dry clo th. A void using an excessiv e amount of clea ner , and do n’t apply the cleaner directly to the len s. Abrasive c leaners, solv ents or othe r harsh chemic als migh t scratch th e lens.
38 Replacing the pr ojection lamp The lamp hour timer in the About menu counts the number of hours the lamp h as been in use. When the specified end of the lamp’s life is r eached, the message “ Replace lamp” briefly appears on the scr een at each st artup and in the Interac tive Display .
39 W ARNINGS : • T o avoid b urns, allow the projector to cool for at l east 60 minutes before you r eplace the lamp . • Do not drop the lamp module. The glass ma y shatter and cause inj ury . • Do not touch the glass lamp screen. Fin gerprints can obscure projection sharpnes s.
40 Cleaning the dust filter 1 T urn off th e projector an d unplug the power cable. 2 W ait 60 minutes to allow the projector to cool thoroughly . WA R N I N G : T o avoid bu rns, allow the projecto r to cool for a t least 60 minutes bef ore you clean or replace the dust filter .
