3 Bef ore using y our machine f or the first time T ranspor t protection Has the transport protection been re- mov ed? If not, see the “T ransport protec- tion” chapter . P acking material Sort waste in accordance with local guide- lines. W asher door The w asher door cannot be opened until the machine is connected to the electricity supply .
4 T ranspor t/ Winter storage If the machine is to be transported or stored in unheated premises where the temper a- ture can f all below fr eezing, do as follo ws: • Empty the filter and drainage pump (see the “Care and cleaning” chapter).
5 Child saf ety K eep an ey e on children! • Alw ay s close the door and star t the pro- gramme immediately once y ou ha ve added detergent. • The appliance is not intended for use b y young childr en or infirm persons without super vision. • Y oung children should be supervised to ensure that the y do not play with the appli- ance.

8 Laundr y labels Look at the item’ s laundr y label. The table below indicates suitable w ash programmes for v arious materials and wash loads . Coloured cotton Coloured cotton items labelled f or hot w ashing (60°C) should be washed at 60ºC the first time in order to remo ve any e xcess dye .
9 W ool and silk These fabrics ar e sometimes labelled as machine w ashable and sometimes as hand w ash. The machine’ s W ool/Hand pro- gramme is at least as gentle as w ashing b y hand. W ool is especially sensitive to processes such as w ashing. If y ou do not want to spin it, you can s queeze out the w ater using terr y tow els.
10 W ashing Sort your laundry See the Advice and Tips section be- for e w ashing. Note! Empty pock ets. Coins, nails and the lik e can cause damage to the machine and fabrics . T urn on the main power s witch Open the w asher door and load the w ashing If the door is closed, press the K ey button (door open).
11 5 Select progr amme Y ou can select a progr amme by turning the pr ogramme selector . A red field lights up beside the selected programme , and the estimated progr amme time is shown in the displa y window . Star t b y pressing the Start/Stop button, or go on to Options and Set- tings.
12 Super Rinse Selecting Super rinse gives y ou 2-4 extr a rinses in all programmes e xcept W ool/ Hand, Spin, Drain and the Rinse pro- gramme . A lighted red field indicates that the option has been activ ated. programme and pr ess the Start/Stop but- ton.
13 Once the progr amme has finished Once a programme is finished, “End” is shown in the displa y . The door opens automatically once the programme has finished. If you w ant to de- activ ate “automatic door opening”, see the “Child safety” chapter .
14 Checking the filter and drainage pump The w ashing machine has a filter , where coins, hairpins and the lik e can get caught. T o clean the filter and drainage pump: 1 . Mak e sure the machine is empty of w ater and that it is switched off at the mains .
15 2 1 Rinse holes under the agitator If you think that objects such as nails , paper clips, needles or the lik e may ha ve f allen into the w ash drum, you should check un- der the agitator . Such objects can rust and cause spots on clothing. Nails and other sharp objects can cause holes in fabrics .
16 T roubleshooting The w asher door will not open 1 . Check that the main pow er switch is on. 2 . Is there po wer? Check y our home’ s fuses (circuit break ers).
17 W ater intake err or If F4 is flashing in the displa y . F ault with water supply . Check: - that the tap on the w ater pipe is open. - that the filter in the machine’ s water intak e is not block ed. 1. Shut off the w ater tap . 2. Unscre w the hose.

19 T ransport protection Bef ore the machine is used, the thr ee trans- port protection devices should be r emov ed as shown belo w . Each transport protection de vice consists of a scre w , a w asher , and a rubber spacer . The rubber spacers are used after remo val as protection f or the transport protection de vice holes.
20 Installation P ositioning the washing machine The w ashing machine can be installed as a built-in or freestanding unit. P osition the machine so that the electrical plug is easily accessible. A. Built-in The w ashing machine can be installed under a counter top with a working height of 850-900 mm.
21 Y ou can replace or turn the car d yourself f or the most appropriate language f or y ou. T o remo ve the car d from its holder in the detergent compartment, press the card with your thumb and push it side wa ys (see illustration). The card will then bend slightly and you can easily r emov e it.
22 Ser vice Bef ore contacting the service division, mak e sure y ou know the model designa- tion, type designation and serial number . The model designation can be found on the detergent compartment. T ype designation and serial number can be found on the type plate abov e the washer door .
