Phone at a gla nce 11 ■ Standby mode The following soft keys app ear in the standby mode. The standby mode is home base an d indicates your phone is in the idle state. Signal strength (1)— More bars indicate a stronger network signal. Menu (2)—Press the center o f the scroll key to select this o ption.

Set up yo ur phone 17 Slide the bac k cover off to remov e it (1 ). Insert the battery so that the gold- colored connec tors on the battery align with the connec tors on the phone (2). Replace the back cover: align the catc hes (3 ) together, and slide the cover (4) forward.

Select Details to highlight you r desired number; then selec t Call . Last d ialed nu mber 1. In the standby mode, press the send key to display the last 20 num bers dial ed.
Set up yo ur phone 21 2. Pres s the end key to reje ct the call. Select Sile nce to mute th e ringing tone , then Dismis s , or do nothing. The call is eventua lly diverted to voic email. With your phone set to silent in the profiles menu, select Dis mis s to divert the call to voicema il.

Set up yo ur phone 23 ■ Keyguard With the ke yguard, you can l ock the ke ypad to pr event ke ys from accidental presses. The lock ed keypad unlocks when you receive a call. After the call, the l ock automatically reactivates. With the ke yguard on, calls still may be pos sible to th e official emergency numbe r programmed into your phone .
Gallery 24 3. Gallery You can save recordings, and ringing ton es to folders in the Gallery and add new folders. You can download tones with text messag es. Copyrig ht protecti on may pre vent some ri nging tones, and othe r content f rom being copied, modified, trans ferred, or forwar ded.
Gallery 25 Memory status —Check the available memory for the device handset. Mark or Unmar k —Mark or unmark folders to be deleted or moved. Mark all —Mark all folders t o be de leted. Other folder options Other options are available after opening content specific folders in the gallery.
Recent ca lls 26 4. Recent c alls Rece nt calls stores information abou t the last 20 missed, received, or dialed calls. It als o displays the total duration of all calls . When the num ber of calls exce ed the maximu m, the most recent call replaces the oldest.

Recent ca lls 28 ■ Call timers To view the duration of your calls, select Menu > Rece nt calls > Call tim ers and one of the following options: Last call duration — C h e c k t h e t i m e o f y o u r l a s t c a l l . Dialed calls' duration —C heck th e combine d time of ca lls you dialed for either Hom e or Roaming .
Media 29 5. Media ■ V oice re cord er You can record pieces of speech or sound with your device and listen to the m later. The total a vailable time is 3 minutes with no memos st ored. The maximum length of a recording depends on how much memory rem ains available.
Media 30 Options After saving a recordi ng, select Menu > Media > Record er > Optio ns (left s oft key) > Recordings list (opens the gallery) > Recordings . Scroll to a re cording and se lect Optio ns (le ft soft key) and one of th e following: Delete —Erase t he recording.

Settings 34 Power sa ver When this feature is enabled, the display sh ows only a simplified display after a time-out period. Select Menu > Settings > Mini display > Po w e r s a v e r > On or Off . Sleep mode Sleep mode is a power-saving fe ature that turns off t he mini display during inactiv ity.

Settings 36 Select Menu > Settings > T ime and date > Auto-u pdate of date & time > On , Confirm first , or Off . If you use th e Au to-upda te of date & ti me op tion while outsi de the digital network, you may be prompted to enter the time manually.
Settings 37 Location on —The device location information is shared with the netwo rk whenever the device i s powered on and activated. The screen displays in the upper left hand corne r in the standby mode.
Settings 38 Calling car ds If you use a calling card for long dis tance calls, save the calling card number in your phone. The phone can store up to four calling cards. Cont act your c alling card compa ny for more information. Save infor ma tion 1. Select Menu > Settings > Call > Calling card .

Select Menu > Settings > Phon e > Phone language and th e language of your choice. Automatic keyg uard You can s et the ke ypad of yo ur dev ice to lock autom atically after a preset t ime delay.
Settings 41 Touc h tones Touch to nes, or DTMF ton es, are the tones th at sound when you press the keys on your dev ice keypad . You can use touch tones for many automated dial-up services such as banking and airlines or for ent ering your voic e mailbox number and password.

Settings 44 Bluetoo th conn ect ivity Bluetoo th techno logy enabl es cost-free wi reless co nnections between electronic devices. It can also be used to con nect wirelessly to other products that use Bluetooth wireless technology, such as Blue tooth he adsets and car kits.
Settings 45 Blu etooth conne ctiv ity s ettin gs The first time yo u turn on Bluet ooth, you can selec t a name for your phone or use the default name. After selecting a name, the phone asks "Set p hone visi ble t o all se archin g devices ?" Select Ye s or No .
Settings 46 To deactivate Bluetooth connectivity, select Menu > Settings > Conn ectiv ity > Bluetooth > Off . Deacti vatio n o f the B lue toot h technology connection does not affect other functions of the phone. Pair ing You can pair multiple device s.
Settings 47 3. Select the he adset name from the list of found device s. 4. Enter the Blue tooth passcode 0000 to pair and connect the headset to your phone. In some phones you may need to make the conn ection separa tely afte r pairing. You only need to pair the headset with your phone once.
Settings 48 Heads et Impo rtant: The headset ma y affect your abilit y to hear sounds around you. Do not use the headset in situations th at may endange r your safety . Select the option of your choice to ente r the submenu and modify its settings. Default profile —Ch oose the profile you want automatic ally activated with a headset con nected.
Settings 49 Phone l ock The phone lock feature protects your device from unauthorized outgoing calls or unauthorized access to information stored in the device. With the phone lock activate d, Phone locke d is displayed each time you turn your device on or off.

Settings 53 Store a fe ature code 1. Select Menu > Settings > Network services > Network feature setti ng . 2. Enter the feature code from your ne twork operator (for example, *633), and select OK . 3. Select the type of service th at match es the feature code you entered (for example, Call forwarding ).
Settings 54 Call wait ing Call waiting notifies you of an incoming call eve n while you are in a call. You can then accept, reject, or ignore the incoming call . 1. Select Menu > Settings > Network services > Call waiting > Ac t iva te or Cancel .
Settings 55 ■ Phone details To view the current details of your phone, select Menu > Settings > Phone details and one of the following options: My number —Shows the curre nt phone numb er details. Software version —Shows the phone model, hardware, and software version information for the phone.
Contacts 56 7. Contacts The cont acts lis t can hold up to 250 co ntacts wit h multip le numbers and text notes f or each contact. The amount of number s and text entries you can save may vary, depending on the le ngth and tota l number of entries in t he contac ts list.

Contacts 58 Group name —Ren ame the grou p. Group ringing tone —Set the ringi ng tone for the group. Group members —Add or remove members from the caller group. Set up 1-touch dialing You can asso ciate any e ntry in the conta cts list with a key from 2–9.
Contacts 59 ■ Vo i c e t a g s You can dial up to 25 stored numbers using voic e dialing. Before using voice tags , note the following: • V oice tags are not language-dependent. They depend on the s peak er’s v oice . • You must say the n ame exactl y as you said it whe n you recorded it.
Contacts 60 2. Wh en yo u hea r seve ral b eeps a nd Spe ak now appears, rele ase the key. 3. Pronounce the voi ce tag cl early into the microphone . When th e devi ce fi nds th e voice t ag, Found : appears, and the devic e automatica lly dials the num ber.

Contacts 62 Groups —View and edit the properties of any of the caller groups on the device. V oice tags —Lis ten to, modify, or delete a voice tag to a contact in the conta cts list. 1-touch dialing —View or modify the list of 1-touch dialing numbers.
Contacts 63 Send a busines s card You can send a busine ss card as a text mes sage to a compat ible phone or other handheld device. 1. Highlight your desired entry from your c ontacts list, and sele ct Opt ions > Send bus. card > Via text me ssage .

T ool s Your phone con tains featu res to he lp organize your everyday life, including a n alarm clock, calendar, calculator, co untdown timer, and stopwatch. ■ Alarm clock Set an alar m The alarm clock is based on the phone clock. It sounds an alert any time you specify and even wor ks if the phone is turned off.

Tools 68 Go to date —Jump to another date on your c alendar. Go to today —Retu rn to the current da te. Send note > Send as me ssage or Via calendar —Send a calendar note in calendar format (vCal), in a tex t message, in a multimedia message, or directly to another device.
Tools 69 ■ Notes You can write text no tes with the Notes . You can also s end notes using tex t messaging or Bluetooth conn ectivity . Select Menu > Tools > Notes to see your current lis t of notes. If there are no notes, select Add n ot e to create a note.

Tools 73 2. Enter the first num ber in the calculation . Press # for a deci mal p oint if ne cessa ry. Press the scroll key up or down to change the sign of your number or va lue. Press * to cycle through the ad d (+), subtract (-), multiply (*), and divide (/) characters.

You can e dit the exchange ra te at any t ime. ■ Timers Your device co ntains two event ti mers: a norm al timer th at counts down a set interva l, and an in terval timer th at counts up set interva ls.
Tools 75 3. Leave the note as it was, or ente r a new note, and select Start . To stop the timer before the alarm sounds, select Menu > Tools > Timer > Stop timer . Interval timer The interval timer in yo ur devic e allows y ou to s tore multiple interval timers.
Tools 76 ■ Stopwatch Your phone ha s a stopwatc h that can be used to track time. The stopwatc h displays time in hours, minute s, seconds , and fractions of a second in hh:mm:s s.ss format. Using the stopwatch or allowing it to run in the background when using other features increases t he demand on bat tery power and reduces the battery life.

Text ent ry 78 9. Text entry You can use tw o methods for ent ering text and num bers: standard mode and predictive text mode. Select Clear to backspace the cursor and delete a character. Select and hold Clear to bac kspace continu ously and delete characters.
Text en try 79 Punctuatio n and specia l characters While at any te xt en try screen, press * t o display s pecial characters. Press * again to cycle through all avai lable characters . Scroll to navigate throu gh the list of special characters. With a character highl ighted, select Insert to insert the charac ter into your message.

The full performance of a new battery is achieved only after two or three complete charge and discharge cycles. The b attery can be charged and dischar ged hundreds of times, but it will eventuall y wear out.
