1. Get started Insert SIM card and battery Always switch the device o ff and disconnect the charger before removing the battery. The SIM car d and its cont acts can be ea sily damaged by scratche s or bending, so be careful when handling, insert ing, or removing the card.
Remove the microSD card Important: Do n ot remove the memory card in the middle of an operation when the card is being accessed . Removing the ca rd in the middle of an operation may damage the memory card as well as th e device, and data stored on the card may be corrupted.
Warning: When you use the headset, your abil ity to hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use the headset where it can endang er your safety. When connecting any external device or any headset, ot her th an those approved by Nokia for use with thi s device, to the Nokia AV Connector, pay special attention to volum e levels.
Switch the phone on and off To switch the phone on or off, press and hold the power key. Standby mode When the phone is ready for use, and you have not entered any charact ers, the phone is in the standby mode.
2. General information About your device The wireless device described in this guide is approved for use on the (E)GSM 850, 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz networks.
This device supports WAP 2.0 protocols (H TTP and SSL) that run on TCP/IP p rotocols. Some features of this devi ce, such as multimedia mess aging (MMS), browsing, and e- mail application, require network support for these technologies.

When you write text, press and hold Option s to switch between traditional text inp ut, indicated by , and predictive text input, indicated by . Not all languages are supported by predictive text input. The character cases are indicated by , , and . To change the character case, press # .
6. Messaging You can read, write, send, and save text, mu ltimedia, audio, and flash messag es, and e- mail. The messaging services can only be used if your network or service provider supports them. Text and multimedia messages You can create a message and op tionally at tach, for example, a picture.

12. Media Camera and video Your device supports an image capture resolution of 1200x1600 pixels . For faster operation when capturing an image, set the camera to u se a lower resolution when a memory card is not inserted.
