1. 3. Insert the SI M card. Ensu re th e contact area on the card is facing the connectors on th e device and that the bevelled corner is facing the top of the device. 4. Align the contacts of the bat tery with the correspondi ng connectors on the battery compartment, and insert the battery in the direction of the arrow.

Insert the memory card To save space in the device memory, save data to a memory card. You can also back up in formation from your device to the memory card.
Connect the headset Warning: When you use the headset, your ability to hear outside sounds may be affected. Do not use the hea dset where it can endanger your safety.

Phone setup When you switch on your device for the first time, the Phone setup application opens. To access the Phone setu p application later, se lect Menu > Help > Phone se tup . To set up the device con nections, select Se ttings wizard . To transfer data to your de vice from a compatible Nokia device, select Phone swi tch .
You have activated the Silent profile, and the device does not ring for an incoming call or message. Bluetooth connectivity is acti vated. A Bluetooth connection is established. When the indicator is blinking, your device is trying to connect with another device.
Your device is synchronising. You have an ongoing push to talk (PTT) connection. Your push to talk connection is in do not disturb mode, because the ringin g type of your device is set to Be ep once or Silent , or you have an incoming or ongoing phone call.
To insert characters and symb ols that are not shown on the keyboard, press the Sym key. To copy text, press and hold the Shi ft key, and scroll to highlight the word, phrase, or li ne of text you want to cop y. Press Ctrl + C. To paste the text , move to the correct place, and press Ctrl + V.
4. Personalisation You can personalis e your device by, for example, adjusting the various tones, and chan ging the background image and screen saver. Profiles Select Menu > Settings > Pro files . You can adjust and customise th e ringing tones, alert tones, and other device tones for diffe rent events, environments, or caller groups.
To change the message tone, select Op tions > Personalise > Message alert tone . Change the d isplay theme Select Menu > Settings > Th emes . Select from the following: ● General — Change the theme us ed in all applications. ● Menu view — Change the theme us ed in the main menu.
If you select Messagi ng > New mail box and have not set up your e-mail account, you are prompted to do so. To start creating the e-mail settings wi th t he mailbox guide, select Start . When you create a new mailbox, the n ame you give to the mailbox replaces Mailbox in the Messaging main view.
Delete e-mail messages Select Menu > Messaging and a mailbox. To delete the con tents of an e-mail message from the device while still retaining it in the remote mailbox, select Options > Delete > Phone only . The device mirrors the e-mail headers in the remote mailbox.
Write and send messages Select Menu > Messaging . Important: Exercise caution wh en opening messages. Messages may contain maliciou s software or otherwise be harmful to your device or PC. Before you can create a multim edia message or write an e- mail, you must have t he correct connection settings in p lace.
options take more space, and limit th e number of characters that can be sent in a single message. You may not be able to send video clips that are saved in the MP4 file format or that exceed the size limit of the wireless network in a multimedia message.
6. Contacts Select Menu > Contacts . In Contacts, you can save a nd update contact information , such as phone nu mbers, home addre sses, or e-mail addre sses of your contacts.
7. Media Music player Warning: Continuous exposu re to high volume may damage your hearing. L isten to music at a moderate level, and do not hold the device near your ear when the loudspeaker is in use.
To modify the balance and ster eo image, or to enhance bass, select Options > Audio settings . To view a visualisation during playback, select Options > Show visualisation . To return to the home screen and leave the player playing in the background, press the end key.
If you select PC Suite as the connection mode, you can use Nokia Music to synchro nise mu sic between your device and PC. N-Gage™ You can play high-quality , multiplayer N-Gage games with your device. N-Gage is a mobile gaming platform available for a range of compatible Nokia mobile devices.
Go to Gallery. The available options vary de pending on the capture mode and view you are in. The settin gs return to the default values when you close the camera. To customise the camera tool bar, in image mode, select Options > Customise t oolbar .
Image print With Image print, you can prin t your images using Bluetooth connectivity or a compatible USB data ca ble. You can also print images using a wirele ss LAN (WLAN) conne ction. You can only print images th at are in the JP EG file format. The images captured with the came ra are automatically saved in the JPEG file format.
Create a post Select Menu > Applications > Share online . To post media files to a service, go to a service, and select Options > New upload . If the online sharing service provides channels for postin g files, select the desired channel. To add an image, video clip, or sound clip to the post, select Options > Insert .
Select Options and from the following: ● Resume download — Resume a p aused or failed download. ● Cancel download — Cancel a download. ● Preview — Preview a video clip. ● Feed details — Vi ew information about a video clip. ● Refresh list — Refresh the list of video clips.
If you have saved radio stations in your device, to go to the next or previous saved st ation, sele ct or . Select Options and from the following: ● Activate loudspeaker — Listen to the radio using the loudspeaker. ● Manual tuning — Change the frequency manually.
You can use a w ireless LAN (W LAN) access point device or router to create a home network. Then you can connect compatible WLAN-ena bled UPnP devices to the network. Compatible devices may be your mobile device, a comp atible PC, a sound system, a televisi on, or a compatible wireless multimedia receiver connected to a sound system or television.

Voice calls Note: The actual invoice for calls and services from your service provider may vary, depending on network features, rounding off for bi lling, taxes, and so forth. Answer a call To answer a call, press the ca ll key. To reject a call, press the end key.
Video calls About video calls T o b e a b l e t o m a k e a v i d e o c a l l , y o u n e e d t o b e i n t h e c o v e r a g e of a UMTS network. For availability an d subscription to video call services, contact your servic e provider.
● Ensure you have an active UMTS connection and are within UMTS network coverage. If you move outside the UMTS network during a video sharin g session, the sharing stops while your voice call continues. ● Ensure that both the sender and recipient are registered to the UMTS network.
2. If the recipient has seve ral SIP addresses or phone numbers including th e country code saved in the cont acts list, select the de sired address or number. If th e SIP address or phone number of the recipient is not available, enter the address or number of the recipient including the country code, and select OK to send the invitation.
Make internet calls When you have activated the in ternet call feature, you can make an internet call from all applications where you can make a regular voice call, such as the co nt act s lis t or lo g. F or example, in the con tacts list, scroll to the desi red contact, and select Options > Call > Internet call .
To enter a new web address you want to visit, select Options > Go to web address . Tip: While browsing, to visit a web page saved as a bookmark in the bookmarks view, press 1 , and select a bookmark. To refresh the content of the web page, selec t Options > Navigation options > Reload .
The default access point for widgets is the same as in the w eb browser. When active in the background, some widgets may update informat ion automa tically to you r device. Using widget s may invo lve the transmission of large amounts of data through your servic e provider's network.
Download! Select Menu > Download! . With Download! (network service), you can browse, download, and install it ems, such as lates t applicat ions and related documents, to yo ur device from the web. The items are categorised un der catalogues and folders provided by Nokia or independent service providers.
10. Travelling Positioning (GPS) You can use applicati ons such as GPS data to determine your location, or measure distan ces and coordinates. These applications require a GPS connection. About GPS The coordinates in the GPS are expressed using the international WGS-84 coordinate s ystem.
You must h ave an intern et acce ss point defined in the device to retrieve assistance data from the Nokia A-GPS service over a packet data connection. The access point for A-GPS can be defined in positioning settings. A wireless LAN (WLAN) access point cannot be used for this service.
With Maps, you can see you r current location on the map, browse maps for different cities and countries, search for addresses and different points of interest, plan routes from one location to another, and save locations and send them to compatible devices.

Back up files to a me mory card Select Menu > Applications > Organiser > File mgr. . To back up files to a memory card, select the file types you want to back up, and Options > Back up phone memory . Ensure that your memory card has enough free memory for the files that you have chosen to back up.
To translate words from one la nguage to another, enter text in the search field. As you en ter text, s uggestions of words to translate are disp layed. To translate a w ord, select the word from the list. All langua ges may not be supported. Select Options and from the following: ● Listen — Listen to the selected word.
To change the star ting day of the week, the view that is shown when you open the calendar, or th e calendar alarm settings, select Options > Settings . To go to a certain date, select Op tions > Go to date . To go to today, pr ess # . Clock Select Menu > Applications > Clock .
The type of content that can be transferred depends on the model of the device from which you want to transfer content. If the other device supports synchronisation , you can also synchronise data between the other device and your device. Your device notifies you if the other device is not compatible.

Pair devices Select Menu > Settings > Co nnectivity > Bluetooth . Open the paired devices tab. Before pairing, decide on your own passcode (1-16 digits), and agree with the user of th e other device to use the same code. Devices that do not have a user interface have a fixed passcode.

The WLAN wizard helps you find an d connect to a wireless LAN (WLAN). When yo u open the application, your device starts to scan for available W LANs and lists them. Select Options and from the following: ● Refresh — Update the list of available WLANs.
To see the open data connections, select Active d ata connections . To view detailed information about network connections, select a connection from the list and Options > Det ails . The type of information shown depe nds on the connection type. To end the selected netw ork connection, select Optio ns > Disconnect .
and your device is locked, you must take the device to a Nokia authorised service facility an d additional charges may apply. To unlock the device, the software must be reloaded, and the data you have saved in the device may be lost. You can also lock the device remotely by sending a text message to the device.
View certificate details You can only be s ure of the co rrect identity of a server when the signature and the validity pe riod of a server certificate have been checked. To view certificate details, open a certificate folder, and select a certificate and Options > Certificate details .

Remove applications and software Select Menu > Settings > Data mgr. > App. mgr. . Scroll to a software package, and select Option s > Uninstall . Select Ye s to confirm. If you remove software, you can only reinstall it if you have the original software package or a full backup of the removed software package.
