1. Before beginning any exercise program, con- sult your physician. This is especially impor- tant for persons over the age of 35 or per- sons with pre-existing health problems. 2. It is the responsibility of the owner to ensure that all users of this treadmill are adequately informed of all warnings and precautions.
2 1. Do not attempt to raise, lower, or move the treadmill until it is properly assembled. (See ASSEMBLY on page 6, and HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 25.) You m ust be able to safely lift 45 lbs. (20 kg) to r aise, lower, or move the treadmill.
Thank you for selecting the revolutionary NordicTrack ® C 2400 treadmill. The C2400 treadmill offers a selec- tion of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective. A nd when you’re not exercising, the unique C2400 trea dmill can be f olded up, requiring less than half the floor space of other treadmills.
1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its side as shown. Partially fold the Frame (55) so that the treadmill is more sta- ble. Do not fully fold the Frame until the treadmill is completely assembled.
7 2. Attach two Base Pads (81) to the base of the Uprights (85) in the indicated locations with two 1 " Tek Screws (82). 85 81 8 2 82 2 3. With the help of a second person, carefully tip the treadmill onto its other side as shown. Partially fold the Frame (55) so that the treadmill is more stable.
8 5. Remove the plastic ties from the ends of the Latch Assembly (76). Orient the Latch Assembly (76) so that the large b arrel and the knob are in the positions shown; make sure that all of the holes are aligned (see the inset drawings).
9 9. Remove the indicated 3/4" Screw (7) from the right Handrail (70). See the inset drawing. Slide the Right Upright Sleeve (9) up to the console assembly. Attach the Right Upright Sleeve with two 1" Tek Screws (82) and the 3/4" Screw (7) as shown.
10 1. Make sure that the power cord is unplugged. Remove the indicated Screws (99) from the back of the Console Base (98). 2. While a second person holds the Console (105), connect the wire on the receiver (A) to the indi- cated wire extending from the Console.
1 1 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- i cone spray or other substances to the walking b elt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
12 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effec - tive and enjo yable. When the manual mode of the con- sole is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the touch of a butt on.
13 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER IMPORTANT: If the treadmill has been exposed to c old temperatures, allow it to warm to room tem- perature before turning on the power. If you do not do this, the console displays or other electrical components may become damaged.
14 3. Enter user information. H ighlight the words USER WEIGHT and then press the User/Enter button. Next, press the in- c rease and decrease buttons beside the User/Enter button to enter your weight.
15 HOW TO USE THE MANUAL MODE 1. I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13. 2. Personalize console settings if desired. See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET- TINGS on page 13. 3. Select the manual mode. Each time the key is inserted, the manual mode will be selected.
16 When the manual mode is selected, the console of- fers eight display modes. The display mode that y ou select will determine which workout information is shown. For example, the first display mode s hows only the elapsed time and the distance that you have walked or run.
17 HOW TO USE A CARDIO PROGRAM 1 . Insert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13. 2. Personalize console settings if desired. See HOW TO PERSONALIZE CONSOLE SET- TINGS on page 13. 3. Select a cardio program. To select one of the ten cardio program, press the Programs button repeatedly.
18 If the third display mode is selected, the display will show an animation of a runner. At the end of the first one-minute segment of the program, a series of tones will sound. If a di ffe re nt speed setting is programmed for the second seg- ment, the speed setting will move along the bottom of the display to alert you.
19 HOW TO USE A PULSE PROGRAM Follow the steps below to use a pulse program. 1. Put on the optional chest pulse sensor. Note: You must wear the optional chest pulse sen- sor to use a pulse program. 2. Insert the key into the console. See HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 13.
20 During each one-minute segment of the program, the console will compare your heart rate to the cur- r ent target heart rate setting. If your heart rate is too far below or above the target heart ra.

24 HOW TO USE THE STEREO SOUND SYSTEM T o play music or audio books through the console’s stereo speakers, you must connect your MP3 player or C D player to the console. Locate the stereo audio cable below the speakers on the console, and plug it into a jack on your MP3 player or CD player.
25 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If you do not do this, you may damage the t readmill. Remove the key and unplug the power cor d. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 lbs.
26 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. It may be neces- sary to push the frame forward as you pull the knob to the left. Pivot the frame downward and release the latch knob.
27 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
28 Locate the Reed Switch (22) and the Magnet (18) on the left side of the Pulley (17). Turn the Pulley until the M agnet is aligned with the Reed Switch. M ake sure that the gap between the Magnet and the Reed S witch is about 1/8 in. (3 mm). I f necessary, move the Reed Switch slightly using a slotted screwdriver.
