Setting up the handset 10 Your handset can be used to make and receive calls only after you charge the batter ies. Installing the batter y pack You must install the battery p ack befo re you can use you r hands et. 1. Make sure the handset is switched off.

Heat or cold reduces the performance an d service life of the batte ries. It is possible that a hand set with hot or cold batteries can be tempor arily out of operation even if the batteries are fully ch arged.

Handset controls 14 Switching the handset on or off Use the right soft key to switch the handset on or off, as follows: Keys and display The handset has thr ee major display ar eas, as shown in Figure 3. Handset controls 15 Icon/text line The function of this line changes as fo llows: • During a telephone call or while in idle mode, the Icon/text line displays the current status of the handset. • When using the menus, the Icon/text line displays the na me of the active me nu.
Handset controls 16 In the idle state, the display show s the name of the DECT system, the programmed user name (as you entered it, see pa ge 73), the internal telephone n umber (if prog rammed). During a call the display is updated with the caller lin e IDs and/or calling party na me display (CPND), an d call dur ation timer.
Handset controls 17 Right soft key Two functions are available on the right soft key, depend ing on how long you hold the ke y. Use the right so ft key for either of the following: OK soft key Options sof t key Esc sof t key Redial sof t key During a call, press the arrow keys to increase or decrease the receive r or loudspeaker volume.

Calling features 22 T o edit a number in predial mode: Note: When predialling, if the input cursor is positioned after the telephone number , the new digit s are inserted at the end of that telephone number . If the input cursor is positioned at any othe r point, the new d igits are insert ed in fron t of the insertion point.
Calling features 23 Note: Wh en the Han dsfree fu nction is active, the hook icon is replaced by the loudspeaker icon ( = ). For best results: • Place the ha ndset uprig ht on a smooth, flat surface, leaving the loudspeaker and microp hone free of obstruction.

Calling features 25 Rejecting a call Note: The call is diverted to your voice mail system (if configured). Changing settings during a call During a call, you can adjust the Earpiece or Handsfree speake r volume and mute the handset.
Calling features 26 T ransferring a call Use this option to transfer a call, or to conference in a third party. 1. Press the Tra nsfer key to put t he first caller on hold. The letter R is displayed on the bottom line of the display, an d a spec ial dial ton e sounds .
Using Voice Mail 27 Using V oice Mail Use the Voice Mail feature to list en to voice messages left by calling parties. Note: Con tact your system ad ministrato r to determin e if V oice Mail is available on your system.
Using Voice Mail 28 3. Choose one of the following: • Press the OK soft key. • Press the Hook key . The Voice Mail access number is automatically dialle d, and your voice box nu mber and password are automatically en tered. Note: Press the Esc key at any time to cancel this procedure.

When an urgent message is not confirm ed within 60 seconds, a message is sent to the initiator, indicatin g that the me ssage has no t been delivered.

Using the Caller List 46 Using the Caller List The Caller List automatica lly stores a maximum of 30 accepted or missed calls; numbers are stored only if the incoming call num ber is transmitted. After 30 entries are stored in the Caller List, each additional call overwrites the oldest entry.

Using the Caller Filter list 50 Using the Caller Filter list Caller Filter allows you to selectively block or accept calls from specified phone numbe rs. You can store up to ten phone nu mbers in the Caller Filter list. When the Caller Filter fu nction is active, a filter icon ( t ) appears on the display.

Telephone Options 60 Configuring the User Name Use the User Name option to stor e a name that appe ars on the idle display. The name can con sist of a maximum 16 characters. For help on using the dialpad t o enter character s, see “Dia lpad layo ut” on pag e 36.
Telephone Options 61 Configuring the Emer genc y Call SOS number and message Emergency Call allows you to dial a numbe r or send a text message in the event of an emergency.
Telephone Options 62 Configuring Mandown Call The DECT Handset 4065R is equipp ed with Mandown detection using a tilt switch on the handset. Activate to d eactivate Mandown usin g the in the Ma ndown Call option in the Tele phone O ptions me nu, or pre ss the sho rtcut Me nu 6 .
Telephone Options 63 • Delay timer — The Delay time is th e time that must elapse before mandown is activated. Duri ng this time the handset display re mains in normal mode. There is no aler t/attention tone. If the handset returns t o the ve rtical positio n during this time, the Delay timer is de- activated.
Telephone Options 64 Note 1: If the handset is reset, the mandown function is deactivated. However , the SOS number and message text for the mandown call are not deleted. If the ha ndset is sw itched off, the st ored mand own configuration r emains unchang ed.

Telephone Options 68 Activating or Deactivating Auto Answer Use the Auto Answer feat ure to configur e the handset to automatica lly answer an incoming ca ll after two ringer alerts sound. The Auto Answer function only works when the head set is connected.

Configuring DECT system information 71 Configuring DECT system information Before yo u can ma ke a teleph one call using the DECT handset, the handset m ust be subscribed to a DECT system. The ha ndset can be operated with a maximum of te n DECT systems.
Configuring DECT system information 72 Note: If your handse t is preinstalle d by your supplier , you need not subscribe to a system. If the handset is not subscribed to any systems, it dis plays the message No Subscription . The handset can be subscr ibed to up to ten different co mmunications systems, for which it stores a subscr iption record.

Manually selecting the DECT system If the handset is s ubscribed to several DECT sy stems, use this op tion to select which system the handset uses. 6.
