17 Before connecting the POWER • The DV -S939 is shipped with the main power (PO WER) switch in the on position ( ON). When the power cor d is plugged in for the fir st time, the D V -S939 will automatically enter the standby state and the ST ANDBY indicator will light (same condition after step 2 below).

32 T o disable the angle icon displa y on the TV Set “On-Screen Displays” to “Off” using the setting menu (see pages 44 and 51). Monitor the DVD display when you want to change the camera angle. Notes • Y ou can change the camera angle during still playback.

42 Selecting progressive scan Press PROGRESSIVE on the remote controller . The PROGRESSIVE indicator lights in the front panel. T o turn off the progressive scan, press the button again until the PROGRESSIVE indicator disappears. 46 Explanation of Each Item in the Picture Category TV Shape DVD-V 4:3 Letterbox: Select when a 4:3 TV is connected. Displays theatrical images with masking bars above and below the picture. 4:3 Normal: Select when a 4:3 TV is connected. Displays pictures cropped to fill your TV screen.
47 Progressive Conversion DVD-V There are two types of source content in pictures recorded in DVD- V ideo: film content (pictures recorded from films at 24 frames per second) and video content (video signals recorded at 30 frames per second). Make this selection according to the type of content being viewed.

52 Customizing the Function Settings Explanation of Each Item in the Operation Category Pause/Still DVD-V Auto: For normal use. Still and fast motion images can be paused. Frame: The resolution of still pictures is improved, so that you can make a motionless picture clearer when you pause it.
53 3 Press / to select the parental lock level, then press ENTER . Y ou cannot play DVD V ideo rated higher than the level you selected unless you cancel the parental lock function. For example, when you select level 7, discs rated higher than level 7 are locked out and cannot be played.
