Adjusting the volume at another time will aff ec t the ring, notification, and MP3 sound levels. • When you activate Vibrate mode, sound will automa tically be muted and your device will vibrate when an inc oming call is received.

88 Get ting Conn ect ed T o set up a dial-up connection to your ISP When you use your device t o dial up to your ISP and connect to the Internet, you will be billed by the number of minutes that y ou use. T o establish a dial-up connection on your device , you need the same settings that you normally use when you dial up from y our computer .

T o open Comm Manager • T ap the Comm Manager icon ( ) on the T oday screen; or • T ap Star t > Settings > Connections tab > Comm Manager .
Get ting Conn ect ed 93 6.4 Using Bluetooth Bluetooth is a short-range wireless communications technology . Devices with Bluetooth capabilities can exchange inf ormation within a distance of about 10 metres without requiring a phy sical connection.
94 Get ting Conn ect ed Note By default, Bluetooth is turned off. If you turn it on, then turn off y our device, Bluetooth also turns off. When you turn on your device again, Bluet ooth automatically turns on. T o turn Bluetooth on and make your device visible 1.
Get ting Conn ect ed 95 T o accept a Bluetooth partnership 1. Ensure that Bluetooth is turned on and in visible mode. 2. T ap Y es when prompted to establish a par tnership with the other device. 3. Enter a passcode (the same passcode that is ent ered on the device requesting the partnership) to establish a secure connection.
96 Get ting Conn ect ed T o connect a Bluetooth hands-free or stereo headset 1. Make sure that both your device and the Bluetooth headset ar e turned on and within close range, and that the headset is visible. Refer to the manufacturer’ s documentation to find out how to set the headset in visible mode.
Get ting Conn ect ed 97 Beam information using Bluetooth Y ou can beam information, such as contacts, calendar items, and tasks, as well as files from your devic e to your computer or to another Bluetooth- enabled device.

Note If your computer does not have built-in Bluet ooth capability, you need to connect and use a Bluetooth adapter or dongle on your computer .

The WLAN icon indicates the wireless status . : Wi-Fi is turned on. : Wi-Fi is turned off . 3. After Wi-Fi has been turned on, your devic e then scans for available wireless networks in your area.
104 Ge ttin g Con nec ted Next time you use your device to detect wireless networks , you will not see the pop-up message windows again, and you will not be prompted to ent er the net work key of the previously acc essed wireless network (unless you perform a hard reset which will erase custom settings on your device).
Get ting Conn ect ed 105 T o check the wireless LAN status Y ou can check the cur rent wireless c onnec tion status from the f ollowing three screens of your devic e: • T itle bar . When you enable Wi-F i on your device, the Wi-F i ON icon ( ) will appear on the title bar of the T oday screen.
106 Ge ttin g Con nec ted 6.6 Using Internet Sharing Internet Sharing connects your PC or notebook comput er to the Internet by using your device ’ s data connection (GPRS for instance).
