This produ ct consists of a PCI card installed into a Windows PC together with Om niTek software. The pro duct may be supplied already installed and configured by OmniTek, or this may be done by the user.
Page 8 OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Quick Start Guide This section provides a basic g uide to starti ng work with the OmniTek XR application. On starting, a message first ap pears enquiring whet her you wish to use the p rogram’s Advanced Audio or the Motion-Ca pture fac ilities.

OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 13 Window Sizes The size of all of the windows is related to the video standard. When you position and size the windows in on e standard, they may well turn out to be wrongly sized when you switch to a di fferent standard.

Whil e this section is c hiefly for reference, the options offered by these menus provide a good overview of the facilities offered by OmniTek XR.
OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 15 Message Boxes The Preferences menu also lets you co ntrol the display of message boxes in response to error conditions. Messag e boxes that currently may be displayed are ticked. Clearing the tick disables that particula r message box.

OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 17 Engineering Options The Engineering options allow the current Engineerin g Settings to be saved in .ode files and to be subsequently re -loaded. The layout of the wind ows and toolbars is unaffected by saving and loading Engineering settings.

OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 19 Full Screen Menu As well as operating within a conventional application ‘window’, OmniTek XR can also operate within a ‘Full Screen’ environment. This menu allows you both to define full screen views and to select a specific view to launch in Full Scree n mode.
Page 20 OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 3. Engineering Settings When using OmniTek XR, perhaps th e most important controls are the Engineering settings. These determine the entire configurat ion of the system in terms of what video format to use, the video lock reference, etc.

The current standard can be changed by clicking the drop-down arrow, and selecting one of the available choi ces. Alter natively, if you are monitori ng external video, it may be more convenient to select Auto detect .

This page is not available wh en the OmniTek XR system does not include the Motion-Capture opti on.
OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 23 Video: Analyzer Settings Range Errors OmniTek XR can detect and count where t he inco ming video falls outside pre-defined luma/chroma ranges. The levels that trig ger an error are determined in this dialogue.

When OmniTek XR is started, the last used profile is automatically loaded but a new profile may be loaded at any time.

The lines normally used for the Video Index sign al are indicated in the dialogue, but other lines may be selected, for example for t est purposes.
OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 29 This data can be interpreted either a s per EN 300 294 or as modif ied by ARDSPEC. For flexibility, it is possible to monitor other lines in addition to line 23.
Page 30 OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Closed Caption: Reader Settings This page of the Engineering Settings control wi ndow caters for ‘Line 21’ captions sent within video formats other than NTSC. In NT SC, these captions are required to be transmitted on Line 21.

It can be triggered in respon se to any of several VITC, LTC or ATC time code values, or in response to a specific e rror condition such as a CRC error occurri ng.

Single Link Source Toolbar The above toolbar is offered where OmniTek X R is used with the Motion-Capture option. (A shorter version appears when the Adv anced/Extern al Audio option is being used.

Once zoomed in, you can adjust the horizontal and vertical po sition, allowing you to see all areas, not just the centre of the Vector Scope.

So when you ente r a full screen view, each pane will adopt the current settings of the related window within t he normal environment.

Generator Functions Where the system includes the Motio n-Capture option, OmniTek XR include s a video store, which is accessed via a Generato r control window. The Generator window is displayed by clicki ng the Generator icon on the mai n (Windows) toolbar.
OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 71 Preferences Default pattern fit ty pe Every time an image is loaded, its si ze is compared with the current video format. If it exactly matches, the image is loaded. Default patte rn fit type lets you specify a defa ult action to take when the image size doe sn’t fit the current video format.

Thi s menu can also be used to open o r close the Playlist window, and switch between the Thumb nail view shown above an d a text-based list.

Cage Generator OmniTek XR system s include a cage ge nerator – or more precisely, two cage generators, one for safe action, and one for safe title. The Cage Generator dialog ue that controls thes e generators i s displayed by selecting the cage icon fr om the ma in (Windows) toolbar.
OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 83 includes the Motion-Capt ure option, cli cking the Video button will cause the keyed-out area to be replaced with the currently selected image o r sequence in the Generator window. To enable masking, sel ect the required mask type from the drop down box.

This can be adjusted in the Picture section of the Engineering Settings control w indow.

Reset Pe ak And Hold This re-starts the determination of the posit ion of the Peak Hold markers.
Page 92 OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Graticule Type The graticule for the PPMs may be changed from DBFS to alternative calibrations corresponding to different meter types (Nor di c, BBC etc.). The required met er type is selected from a drop-down list of Graticule options.

OmniTek XR User Guide, Software Rel ease 2.3 Page 95 Displaying the Dolby PPM window As stated above, the Dolby-E audio and the associated metad ata are encoded on a pair of embedded audio channels, potentially alongsid e PCM audio. The first ste p is therefore to identify which pair of channels is carrying the Dolby-E data.
