8 Using AC Power You can power yo ur MD-1150 from standa rd AC power us ing a 9-vol t AC adapter ( not su pplied) and a Siz e M Adapta plug ® . Cautions: Y ou must use an AC adapt er that s upplies 9 volts and del ivers at least 800 mil liamp s.

10 OPERATION BASIC O PERA TION 1. T o tu rn o n the k eyb oard , set POWER/MODE to NORMAL . The POWER/ MODE indic ator and the display light. Note: T o sa ve power wh en operat - ing on b atteries, the key board a uto- matically turns off after abo ut 6 minutes i f you do no t press a key .

12 Note: Eac h tune play s a dif feren t preset tone for the melod y , but y ou can chan ge to anoth er tone ev en while the tune i s playing. Follow the steps u nder “ Selecti ng/Playing a Preset T one” o n Page 14 to sel ect a different tone. 4.
13 Playing Along with a Prerecorded T une Follow the se steps to hav e the keyboar d not pla y th e me lod y of a pr er ecor ded tune, so you can! 1. Se lect a nd ente r the numb er of the tune you w ant to pl ay . 2. Press ON/O FF RIG HT to turn off the melo dy .
14 Notes: • The keyb oard has 16 -note (max i- mum) pol yphon ic sound . This mean s th at yo u ca n pl ay u p to 16 different notes a t the same time with most of the keyboar d’s preset tones. Some of th e keybo ard’s preset tones, however , are ca pable of onl y 8-note po lyphony .
15 Percussion Sounds PERCUSSION (No. 99) lets you play th e 39 diffe rent percussio n sounds s hown he re. The symbo l for each sou nd appe ars abo ve the correspo nding k ey on the keyb oard.

23 SPECIAL FEATURES CHANGING KEYS The keyboa rd auto maticall y selec ts the key of m iddle C each tim e you turn it on . For added flexi bility as you p lay, the keyb oard lets yo u change (transpo se) the m usica l key i n whic h it p lay s. Note: You c annot cha nge the key while a prerecor ded tune i s selec ted or pl ay- ing.
24 Note: You canno t tune the keyboard while a prerec orded tune is disp layed or playing . Follow these steps to t une th e keybo ard. 1. Repe at edl y pres s TRANSPOSE/ TUNE/MIDI until th e dis play sho ws Tune and the curren t pitch s etting.
25 USING MIDI Your MD- 1150 in cludes a feature called MIDI (Musical Instru ment Digi tal Inter - face). MIDI is the universal stan dard for sending and re ceiving p erforma nce d ata between all type s of e lectron ic musi cal instrum ents, regardl ess of t he manuf ac- turer.
26 Cautions: • Always turn o ff power to your MD - 1 15 0 and th e other M IDI devic e before y ou con nect or disco nnect MIDI ca bles. • As you ma ke th e cabl e co nne ction s, be sure to align the MIDI cable pin s with the mat chi ng ho les on yo ur keyb oard’s MIDI OUT a nd MIDI IN te r- minals.
