4 PREPARATION CONNECTING P O WER The SCP-10 1 operates from any of these power sourc es: • inter nal b atter ies (no t suppli ed) • standar d A C power (using a n optional A C adapte r) • v ehicle batter y power (using an optional DC adapter) Using Internal Batteries Your SC P-101 r equires two AA ba tteries (n ot suppli ed for power.

USING A C P O W ER You can power the SCP-101 using a 3V, 300- mA AC adapter and a size H Adaptaplug ® (neither su pplied) . Both are availab le at your l ocal RadioS hack stor e.
7 Follow these steps to power the SCP-101 from standard AC power. 1. If the ad apter has a voltage switch, set the s witc h to 3V . 2. Inser t the Adapta plug into the ada pter’ s cord so it reads TIP +. 3. Ins er t th e Adapt aplug into the SCP- 101’ s DC 3V ja ck.
8 Cautions: Y ou must use a pow er sourc e that sup plies 3V DC and de livers at least 300 mA . Its cen- ter tip must be set to po sitive and its plu g must fit th e SCP-101's DC 3V jack. Us ing an adapter that do es not me et these spe cificat ions co uld dam- age the SCP -101 or th e adapte r .

10 Listening Safel y To protect yo ur hearin g, follow these guid eline s when you use headpho nes. • Set the volume to the lowest sett ing before you begin listeni ng. After you begin lis tening, adj ust the volume to a comfor table lev e l. • Do not l isten at e x tremely hi gh volume lev els.
11 USING THE BELT CLIP F or hands -free ca rr ying, install the suppl ied be lt clip . T o insta ll the belt c lip , place it below and be tween the two guides o n the back of t he play e r . The n slide the clip in the opposite direction of the a rrow until it snaps into pla ce.
12 RADIO OPERATION Follow these steps to set up, t une and play the ra dio. 1. Con nect either headphones o r amplified s peak ers t o PHONES . 2. Set T APE/RADIO to RADIO . 3. Set FM ST / FM/AM to the desire d band. 4. Adju st VO L to the desired listeni ng lev el.

15 USING F AST FORWAR D /REWIND To fast forward the tape , press in the same directio n as the tap e is playi ng. To rewind th e tape, pre ss in the opp osite direc tion of play.
