16 Getting Started First-time Operation 2 Opening the Display A Pull up the part (A) and release the latch. B Lift open the display . 3 Connect your computer to a power outlet.
17 Getting Started During setup of Windows, use the touch pad and keyboard to move the cur- sor and to click an item. CAUTION Y ou can change the user name, password, image and security setting after setup of Windows. Remember your password.
18 Getting Started NOTE PC Information Viewer This computer periodically records the management information of the hard disk, etc. The maximum data volume for each record is 1024 bytes. This information is only used for estimating the cause when the hard disk goes down by any possibility .
19 Getting Started T o change the partition structure Y ou can shrink a part of an existing partition to create unallocated disk space, from which you can create a new parti- tion. This computer has a single partition in the default setting. A Click (Start) and right-click [Computer], then click [Manage].
20 Useful Information On- s cr e en Manual Y ou can access the Reference Manual and the Important T ips on the computer screen. When you access the Reference Manual and the Important T ips for the fi rst time, the License Agreement of the Adobe Reader may be displayed.

22 Useful Information Operation environment Place the computer on a fl at stable surface. Do not place the computer upright or turn it over . If the computer is exposed to an extremely strong impact, it may become damaged.
23 Useful Information Preventing your computer from unauthorized use via wireless LAN/Bluetooth/Wireless W AN <Only for model with wireless LAN/Bluetooth/Wireless W AN> Before using wireless LAN/Bluetooth/Wireless W AN, make the appropriate security settings such as data encryp- tion.
24 Useful Information Reinstalling software will return the computer to the default condition. When you reinstall the software, the hard disk data will be erased. Back up important data to other media or an external hard disk before reinstallation. CAUTION Do not delete the partition with boot fi les on the hard disk.

27 T roubleshooting Starting Up The date and time are incor- rect. Make the correct settings. Click (Start) - [Control Panel] - [Clock, Language, and Region] - [Date and T ime]. Click [start] - [Control Panel] - [Date, T ime, Language, and Regional Options] - [Date and T ime].
28 T roubleshooting Entering Password On the [Enter Password] screen, the password cannot be entered. The computer may be in ten-key mode. If the NumLk indicator lights, press NumLk to disable the ten-key mode, and then input. Even after entering the pass- word ( )/ Locked ( )/T ype your password, is displayed again.
29 T roubleshooting Display <Only for model with GPS> The cursor cannot be con- trolled properly . Operate the following steps. A Set [GPS] to [Disable] in the [Advanced] - [Serial Port Settings] of the Setup Utility . B Press F10 and select [Y es] at the con fi rmation message, and press Enter .
30 T roubleshooting Others No response. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open T ask Manager and close the software application that is not responding. An input screen (e.g., password input screen at startup) may be hidden behind another window .
