5 Installing the Hotwire 6310 ReachDSL v1 Modem Place th e ReachDSL modem on a flat s urface w ith clea rance f or the rear conne c tors. Proce dure 1. If a te lephone is connecte d at the R J11 wa ll jac k where the modem will be install ed, unplug the telephone line from the wall jac k.
6 4. Use an 8-pin Ethe r net cab le for the Ethe r net connec tion. Inser t one end of the cab le into the jack labeled ETHERNET . — Use a straigh t-through cab le and connec t the other end to an Ethernet hub . (T o conn ect to a h u b ’ s Uplink c onnectio n, use an Ethernet crosso ver cab le).
7 5. Insert the suppli ed power cord ’ s round end int o the jack labeled PO WER. Plug the tra nsf or mer into an AC outl et. The Re achDSL mod em hardware in stallation is n ow com p lete. When the powe r cord is insta lled, the R each DSL m odem goes t hroug h a power - on sel f-te st.
8 Pow e r -O n When po wer is ap plied, the Rea chDSL modem p erforms self-di agnostics and the PWR LED is on. T he se lf-diag nostic s in clude s a p ow er-o n sel f-test a nd al l of th e LED s turn on f or one second. Status LEDs All of the L EDs turn on and off during the pow er- on self -test.
