4 Installation WARNING: W e recomme nd our customers to have the Parrot RKi8400 f itted by a profe ssional. Before you begin Checking the necessity of an ISO adapter Try to connect the audio and power c onnectors of the Parrot RKi840 0 to the conn ectors of your ve hicle.
5 Installing the Parrot RKi8400 Installation WARNING: Alway s test and verify all connections using suitable t est equipmen t before connecting the P arrot RKi840 0 to the vehicle. 1. Insert the P arrot RKi8400 cage and fix it into the dash board using the brack et mounting tabs.
6 WARNING: Make sure you do not cut the cab les while sliding the car stereo support and fitting t he car stereo into the dash board. 8. Attach the fac eplate. Note : To attach the face plate, put it on the right s ide of the car stereo. Onc e the faceplate and the car stereo magn ets connect, press the left side.
7 D < 60 cm α < 45° Make sure the m icrophone is not exposed to the air str eam from air vents. Do not install the m icrophone cable in heat ing, ventilation or air conditioning system s. Be careful of the side a irbags and SRS s ystems while running the microphone cabl e.

9 Getting started Navigating through the menus Turning on / off the Parrot RKi8400 Press the button to turn on the Parrot RKi8400. Hold down the button for 3 seconds to turn off the Par rot RK i8400. Commands Accessing the main menu Press the central jog wheel to access the m enus.
10 Setting the languag e If you wish to chan ge the language of the Parrot R Ki8400: 1. Press the jog wheel and select Settings > Langu age . 2. Use the jo g wheel to select your lan guage and press th e jog wheel to conf irm. > The Parr ot RKi8400 rebo ots autom atically.
11 Establishing a Bluetooth connection with a phone Using a phone w ith the Parrot RKi8400 for the fir st time Checking th e compatibility of a phone Refer to the com patibility section of our website to c heck if your phone is compatible with the Parrot RK i8400.
12 Automatic connection Once your phone is p aired to the Parrot RKi8400 , the connection between both devices will be a utomatically establishe d each tim e you enter your vehicle. Note : Depending on the model of your ph one, you may hav e to authorize the connection t o the Parrot RK i8400 to allow the a utomatic co nnection .
13 Managing the “Memory full” problem You can pair up to 10 devices with the Parrot RK i8400. If you attempt to pair a n 11th phone, you will get the « Mem ory full » mess age. You must then de lete a phone from the paired devices list. To do so : 1.
14 Synchronizing the phonebook Note : In most cases only contacts stored in the memory of the phone ar e synchro nised in the k it’s memory. If your con tacts are stored in your SIM card mem ory, transfer them onto your phone memory. Refer to th e user guide of your p hone for more informat ion.
15 Deleting a contact Note You can on ly delete contacts sent manually (v ia Object Push ). 1. Press the jog wheel and selec t Phone > C ontacts m anagement . 2. Select th e contact your want to de lete. 3. Press the jog wheel and selec t Delete co ntact .
16 Display settings Modifying the display settings Adjusting the brightness You can adapt the s creen brightness of the Parrot R Ki8400 . T o do so : 1. Press the jog wheel and select Settings > Displa y > Bri ghtness . 2. Select Ni ght mode or Da y m ode .
17 Deleting a wallpaper To delete a picture se nt to the Parrot RKi8400 as wallpaper, pr ess the jog wheel and select Settings > Displa y > W allpaper > Cus tom > Delete .
18 P hone Before using your Parrot R Ki8400 telephone func tion, you first have to conn ect it with your phone / PDA. ► For more informati on,refer to the Establish ing a Bluetooth con nection with a ph one section WARNING: Th e av a ilability of several functio nalities only depen ds on the model of your m obile phone.
19 Dialling a number If the contact you want to call is not in the phon ebook of the phone connected to the Parrot RKi8400 : 1. Stop your vehicle in a safe loc ation. 2. Press the SOURCE butto n until the phon e source is se lected and press the button.
20 > If it is not the case, th e system asks for a confirmation . 3. Confirm by saying « Yes » or « Call » or the precise num ber type (« mobile », « work », « home ».
21 Receiving a call An incoming call is in dicated b y a ringtone. T he name of the cal ler is announced if their det ails are stored in the phonebo ok of the phone con nected to the Parrot RK i8400 . Note : You can also associate a picture t o a contact.
22 Using the Parrot RKi8400 while on call Adjusting the volum e Use the jog wheel dur ing a call to adjus t the communication volume. > The volum e setting is saved f or subsequent call s.
23 Settings Ringtone To adjust the volume of the ringtone wh ich indicates an incom ing call : 1. Press the jog wheel and select Settings > A udio > Ring tone volume . 2. Use the jo g wheel to adjust the volume. Phonebook Assigning a picture to a contact You can ass ign a picture t o a contact.
24 Modifying the phonebook style You can activate / de activate the contacts pictures displa y while browsing through your phoneb ook. To do so : 1. Press the jog wheel and select Telephone > Advanced settings > Phonebok s tyle . 2. Select W ith picture or W ithout picture .
25 Call Making an international call You can configure the Parrot RKi8 400 to add a prefix while mak ing a call from or towards a f oreign countr y. To do so: 1. Press the jog wheel and select Telephone > Advanced s ettings > Change + to . 2. Select th e prefix you want t o use.
26 Music Using the radio Selecting a statio n Selecting a band 1. Press the SOURCE butto n until the Radi o source is sel ected. 2. Press the button and use the jog wheel to select ba nds in the following order FM 1, FM2, FM3 a nd AM. Selecting a frequenc y Press briefly the buttons to change m anually th e radio station.
27 Modifying the radio parameter s To modif y the radio param eters : 1. Press the jog wheel and select Radio > sett ings . 2. Adjust your settings using the jog wheel.
28 Using the Parrot RKi8 400 with an external source Notes : - While playing a musi c file, press the button to get to the tracks list . - While browsing through the menus, p ress the button to get back to th e Now playing screen. - Use the numeric p ad to navigate easi ly throug h the content of you iPod / iPhone / U SB device / SD card.
29 Using the Parrot RK i8400 with an SD c ard Compatibilit y You can use the fo llowing SD cards with the Parrot RK i8400 : - SD, micro SD ( with adapter ), mini SD (with adapter) - SDHC (class 2, 4, 6), mini SDHC ( with adapter) , micro SDHC ( with adapter).
30 > You acc ess the content of the SD card. - If the tags of your aud io files are correctly defined , select one of the c lassification features (artist, album , s ongs, genres, playlist) and press the jog wheel. - If the ta gs of your au dio fil es are n ot d efined, select Directories o r Flat directories .

32 Using the Parro t RKi8400 with an an alogue audio play er Compatibilit y Use a Jack / Jack cable to connect an a nalogue audio pla yer (ex CD player) to the Parrot RK i8400. RCA Connection You can also use the Line In connector located at the back of the Parrot RKi8400.

34 Settings Album artw ork The album c overs can be displa yed if they are included in the tags of your audio files. Associating a pictu re to an album If no picture is included i n the tags of your audio f iles (MP3 ID3v2), you can add a picture in .
35 Using the Virtual Super Bass effect The Virtual Super B ass effect allows you to am plify the low frequencies. To ac tivate or deactivate it: 1. Press the button and select Virtua l Super Bass . 2. Press the jog wheel to act ivate or deactivate this option.
