4 Getting started Installation Positioning the Zi kmu To get the best poss ible sound perform ances, we advi se you to respect the f ollowing recommendations: Make sure that you correctly install the speak ers at their respective pos itions: the iPod / iPhone docking statio n must be on your right.
5 WARNING - Use only a CR203 2 battery. - Dispose of used b atteries in compli ance with curr ent recycling legislation in the country of use. Maintenance and precautions To remove dust and f ingerprints from the speak ers, use a dam p cloth. Do not use an y kind of cleaning ag ent on the Z ikmu .
6 If you start playing a m usic file from a second sourc e: - this source is autom atically selected ; - the music curr ently played from the f irst source is autom atically suspended if it this first sourc e is an iPod / iPhone or an audio pla yer connected via Bluetooth.
7 Wi -Fi Before you begin WARNING: The perform ance of the Zikmu depend s highly on th e performance of your mo dem / router. Set up Operating system Th e Zikmu is compatible with the W indows XP (SP2 a nd later) , W indows Vista SP1 and W indows 7 operati ng system s.
8 Identifying the ty pe of conne ct ion The type of connexion you have to estab lish with the Z ikmu depends on the m odel of your m odem / router: you have to d etermine whether it supports t he SES or W PS technolog ies.
9 Installing the Parro t Audio Suite Description The Parrot Aud io Suite is com posed of the P arrot Sound Manager and Parrot Audio Config uration T ool software. The Parrot Sound M anager s oftware allo ws you to establish the connection between your PC and the speakers via W i-Fi.
10 4. Click on Next . > You will lose your internet c onnection during the co nfiguration (5 m inutes max ). You will get your internet connect ion back as s oon as the configura tion is over. > A window allowing you to change the nam e of the Zi kmu is displa yed.
11 Using the w eb interface Once the Zikm u is connected to your W i -Fi network, you can co ntrol it from your PC. To do so, launch your web browser and ent er « zikm u.
12 iPod Compatibility You can use the Z ikmu with the following devices: iPh one, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod video, iPod nano (1 G, 2G, 3G, 4G) iPod classic, iPod t ouch (1G , 2G and 3G) and later models.
13 Commands Turning the iPod / iPhone on / off Hold down the button of the rem ote control for 2 seco nds to tur n on / off the iPod / iPhone connecte d to the Zikm u. Controlling the music playback Pause a song Press the button. Re sume playback Press the button.
14 Bluetooth Using the Zikmu with a Bluetooth phone Compatibi lit y You can listen to your music track s stored on your mobile phone / PDA / s martphone via th e Zikm u . Your mobile phone m ust be able to supp ort the Bluetooth® A2DP profile (Adv anced Audio Distr ibution Profile).
15 Notes: - You can pair up to 10 devices with the Z ikmu (m obile phone, PC, Blueto oth audio player …). - If you attempts to pa ir an 11th device, the pa iring of the d evice which has no t been connected to the Zikmu for the longest period will be del eted.
16 Using the Zikmu with a computer via Bluetooth Before you begin Compatibilit y The Zikm u is compatible with a ll PCs supporting Bluetooth technolog y . If your PC is not Blueto oth enabled, connect a Bluetooth dong le. You can also use the Zikmu with a Mac OS X Leopard (o r later versi on).
17 E st abli shing the conne ct ion using the Parrot Audio Config uration Tool software If your PC is equipped with the W idcomm Bluetooth software, use the Parrot A udio Configurati on Tool software to establish th e connection . 1. La unch the P arrot Audio Configuration T ool software.
18 Establishing the connection with the Mac Bluetooth software 1. Click on the Bluetooth ico n located u p right of your screen. 2. Mak e sure the Bluetooth f eature is turned on. If it is not the case, cl ick on Bluetooth On , then click on Set up Bluetooth Device .
19 8. Select th e Zikmu as headp hone . T o do so: a. Click on the Bluetooth ico n. b. Select th e Parrot b y Starck. c. Select the Use He adphone optio n.
20 Bluetooth Parameters Modifying the Bluetooth name You have the possib ility to m odify the name of the Zikm u in order to recogni ze it easil y while performing a Blueto oth or W i-Fi searc h. 1. Select the S ettings ta b then click on Friendly nam e .
21 RCA You can connect your audio player (ex: CD player) to the speakers via a Jack – R CA cable to stream music . Connect the audio player to one of the speak ers - the music will be sent via Bluetooth to the other sp eaker. Make sure that the co nnectors are insert ed properl y to avoid any disruption.
22 Audio Pa rame te rs Use the Zikm u web interface or the Parrot Aud io Configuration T ool s oftware to modif y the param eters below. ► Refer to the Using the web interfac e an d Establishi ng the connection with the Parrot Audio Configuration Tool soft ware for more informati on.
23 You can choose one of the 7 equalizer presets (including Fl at, Vocal, Pop…) to su it the style of m usic y ou are listening to. If you don’t find one corres ponding to your preferenc es, you can create your own presets while a song is pla ying.
24 Controlling the bala nce To control the balanc e setting, select th e Audio tab. Drag the Balance slider to c hange the balance be tween left a nd right speak ers. If the iPod / iPhone docking station is not on your right, select the Swap left / right opt ion to reverse the output .
25 Using the high volume ramp- up The High volum e Fade-in o r High vo lume ramp up o ption allo ws you to define t he time the sound wi ll take to get to the volume defined on the Audio mixer . Using the web interface To get to this option, se lect the Settings tab then cl ick on Audio .
26 Adjusting the room compensation level Note : The room compens ation level can also b e defined using the web interface. Refer t o the Usi ng th e web interface s ection for more information.
27 Software update Depending on the com puter you are using, there are s everal methods to update your Zikm u : - Using a PC via W i- Fi - Using a PC via Bluet ooth with the W idcomm Bluetooth softwar.

29 Updating the Zikmu with a Mac 1. Click on the icon and selec t System Preferenc es . 2. Double- cli ck on the icon. 3. Click on and select Send File . 4. Select the do wnloaded update f ile and click on Send . 5. If a PIN cod e is requested, enter « 0000 ».
