2 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual The SR-1 (Son of R ushmore) is the successor to the Rushmore loudspeaker system produced b y P ass Labs between the years 2003 and 2008. The design g oals are similar , but product is different. The Rushmore aimed for high dynamic contrast and control with very low distortion.
3 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual the driv er itself makes non-ideal load for the crossov er . T o retain perfor mance comparable to the R ushmore something has to giv e, and that something is the ov erall efficiency of the loudspeaker system. First off, the dri vers m ust be intrinsically low er distor tion and more neutral in their character .
4 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual from 3 to 5.5 ohms . This means that the power amplifier will need to be able to driv e a 3 ohm load (we mak e amplifiers like that). On the plus side, the amplifier sees a relati vely flat impedance, and m uch less of the reactance of the crossov er and loudspeaker dri vers .
5 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual Caution: These box es are heavy and requir e tw o people using proper lifting techinques and care when unpacking . Y our SR-1 system comes double bo xed with eac h cabinet in it’ s own double bo x. Within the double box, eac h speaker sits in rigid foam top and bottom trays .
6 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual with common metric hardware on the underside of the upper cabinet. The hardware and required tools are supplied with each cabinet. Please retain the packing materials and supplied tools . Customer will need to install the “Tilt Bar” and the “Nameplate” and 3 feet.
7 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual If you are using the prefer red method of bi-wiring with tw o pairs of speaker cables from the pow er amplifier, then y ou may connect the wire set from the amplifier to either pair of the lower cabinets binding posts . If you bi-wire the speaker then remo ve the supplied jumper wire.
8 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual Under these idyllic room conditions speaker placement is frequently a simple task. In an idyllic w orld the speakers w ould be well out in the room, typically about 1/3 the distance of the rooms front to back dimension. The listener w ould be at mid point in the room or slightly to the rear of mid-point.
9 SR-1 Owner’ s Manual level of the driv ers associated with a control. DO WN decreases the level of the driv ers associated with a control. The level control on the w oofer module controls the mid-bass level in the room. This control should be adjusted to optimize bass in room while minimizing undesirable bloom and boom of low frequencies .
