4 1-800-732-2677 Ho w the System W orks A radio signal trav els from the F ence T ransmitter through a buried wire, marking the boundaries you wish to set for your dog. Y our dog wears a Receiver Collar that detects the signal a t the boundar y . As your dog approaches the boundar y , the receiver issues a w ar ning tone.
www .petsafe.net 5 Locate the F ence T ransmitter Place the F ence T ransmitter: • In a dr y , w ell ventilated, protected area ( 1A, 1B ). • In an area where temperatures do not fall below freezing (e.g., garage, basement, shed, closet). • Secured to a stationar y surface using appropr iate mounting hardw are (not included).
6 1-800-732-2677 Sample La y outs Sample 1: P erimeter Loop (Single Loop) The P erimeter Loop is the most common lay out. This will allow y our pet to freely and safely roam your entire proper ty ( 2C ). It can also protect gardens, pools and landscaping ( 2D ).
www .petsafe.net 7 Sample 6 (2J): Wire Loop Attached to Existing F ence (Double Loop) This lay out allows y ou to include your existing fence as part of your layout and keep your pet from jumping out or digging under your existing fence. It reduces the amount of wire which will need to be bur ied.
8 1-800-732-2677 Additional Boundar y Wire Extra direct burial Boundar y Wire can be purchased in 500 foot spools at the store where you purchased the kit or through the Customer Care Center at 1-800-732-2677. Note: When adding Boundar y Wire, it must act as a continuous loop .
www .petsafe.net 9 Ov er Cor rection Protection In the unlikely event tha t your pet “freezes” in the Static Correction Zone, this feature limits the static correction duration to a maximum of 30 seconds . While the system locks out fur ther static correction, the warning tone will continue until the pet leav es the Static Correction Zone.

www .petsafe.net 11 T o Cross Hard Surf aces (dr iv ewa ys, sidewalks, etc.) • Concrete Driveway or Sidew alk (7D): Place the Boundar y Wire in a conv enient expansion joint or create a groove using a circular sa w and masonr y blade. Place the Boundar y Wire in the groove and co ver with an appropriate waterproofi ng compound.
12 1-800-732-2677 4. Check the tightness of the Receiv er Collar by inser ting one finger between the end of a Contact P oint and your pet’ s neck. The fit should be snug but not constricting ( 9B ). 5. Allow your pet to w ear the collar for several minutes then recheck the fit.

14 1-800-732-2677 Da ys 3 and 4 - Continue Boundar y Flag A wareness P erform three training sessions per day , each lasting 10-15 minutes . Goal: T o introduce your pet to the Sta tic Correction and teach where it happens. Setup: • Place the Receiver Collar on y our pet’ s neck.
www .petsafe.net 15 Steps: 1. Enter the pet area with your pet w ear ing the Receiver Collar . 2. W alk around the yard and play with your pet, staying within the P et Area a t all times. 3. Preoccupy yourself with another task in the yard while wa tching your pet.
16 1-800-732-2677 T roub leshooting Receiver Collar is not beeping or cor recting. • Check batter y to make sure it is installed properly . • Check that both lights are lit on the F ence T ransmitter. If not, perform the “Short Loop T est” (page 17).
www .petsafe.net 17 Shor t Loop T est The Shor t Loop T est is a simple test to deter mine if each component (F ence T ransmitter, Receiver Collar and Boundar y Wire) is functioning properly . 1. Disconnect the Boundar y Wire. 2. Cut approxima tely 10 feet of unused Boundar y Wire and connect it to the Boundar y Wire T er minals.
