After th e batteries are charged, pick up the han dset and extend both the handset an d the base anten nas. Now press PHONE on the handset. The PHONE Light sh ould light, and y ou should hear a dial tone. 11. Set Answering System Features. To fully utilize this sy stem you n eed to: a) Set the clock.

Occasionally , especially wh en y ou pick up the h andset betw een ring s, you may not be conn ected. If this happens, press PHONE on the handset to connect the call. If the han dset rings w hen it’ s out of the base, pick up the han dset, extend the antenn a and press PHONE to answ er the call.
If y ou try to m ake a call w hen out of ran ge, y ou will h ear two sh ort beeps when y ou press PHONE. Move closer to the base, and press PHONE again to make the call. If y ou receive a call w hile y ou are out of range, the h andset m ight n ot ring – or if it does rin g, the call m igh t not connect w hen y ou press PHONE.
Using the Intercom During a Phone Call First place the call on h old by press ing HOL D. Then use the in tercom. While y ou are usin g the intercom , the Phone Light s on the handset and the base w ill blink to show th at your call has n ot been disconnected.
To use the directory card concealed in the back of y our han dset, press the arrow an d slide the door tow ard the top of the handset un til it snaps in place. The directory card has an erasable surface. If you w rite in penc i l, you’ll find it ea s y to c hange names when nece ssa ry.
Answering System Operation: At The Base About Mai lboxes This answ ering sy stem provides tw o voice m ailboxes. These m ailboxes provide a conv enient w ay to share an answering system with other members o f your househo l d or b usiness.
Pre-recorded Announcem ent If y ou do not record your ow n announ cemen t, callers will h ear this announ cemen t: “Hello. Please leave a messag e after the tone.” The Message Window blink s to indicate that th e user n eeds to record an ann ouncem ent.
While the sy stem is takin g a call, the Message Window displays “ -.” Af ter a messag e is recorded, the display chang es to show the total nu mber of recorded messages.
C (steady ) Change funct ion is a ctive C (fol low ed by 0-9) Displ a ying curre nt channel numbe r P Reviewing your anno uncement – OR- Temporary display w hile setting un it: setting indicates you.
Saving Messag e s The system saves your m essages automatically if y ou do not delete them. NOTE: T he system can s ave about 12 m inu tes of m essages . When m em ory is full, you m u st delete som e or all of the m essages before any new m essages can be recorded.
Screening Incoming Calls To screen calls, adjust SPEAKER VOL UME so that you can hear the caller’ s voice. If y ou decide to take a call, either use the cordless handset or lift the h andset of any telephone on the sam e line to talk to the caller.
If it doesn’t receive any instru ctions in a few seconds, the sy stem w ill autom atically play all of y our messages f or you. First Mailbox 1 follow ed by Mailbox 2. You can allow the sy stem to play y our mes sages, or y ou can u se the n um ber buttons on the hands et to direct the sy stem to perform any of the oth er operations.
If y ou enter an inv alid code, the system will beep fiv e times. NOTE: If AC power fails and there are no base batteries ins talled, or the batteries are low on power, the Access Code returns to 50. Listen ing to Your Messages • Playing Al l of your Messages Press and release 1 (A LL MSG).
