English 3 Selecting fine audio equipment such as the unit you’ ve just purchased is only the start of your musical enjoyment. No w it’ s time to consider how you can maximize the fun and e xcitement your equipment offers.
Precautions 4 Important The serial number of this device is located on the rear of the unit. For your own secu- rity and convenience, be sure to record this number on the enclosed warranty card. • When you use this universal multi-CD system, the effective sensitivity of your radio will be reduced slightly .
English 5 Precautions This product is equipped with a remote control for convenient operation. • Point the control in the direction of the unit to operate. • Do not store the remote control in high temperatures or direct sunlight. • The control may not function properly in direct sunlight.
Using the Compact Discs Magazine 6 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 Hold down the magazine lock button and, pull the tray out. Slide out the disc tray Disc tray Position the disc with the label upward.
English 7 Notes on 8-cm (3-inch) CDs Do not use an 8-cm CD adapter . If it is used, the player may fail. T o load an 8-cm CD, you need a special 8-cm CD tray (Part No. CXB5931). Ask your Pioneer service station about it. 8cm • Do not put the magazine in a place where it will be exposed to high temperatures or direct sunlight.
Using the Compact Discs Magazine 8 2 1 Insert the magazine. • Do not put your fingers in the magazine tray as this may lead to incorrect opera- tion and damage to the player . • If the label on the magazine is coming off or wrinkled up, it may damage the eject mechanism, and in some cases, the magazine may not be ejected.
Playing Compact Discs English 9 1. Switch the radio on and tune to Modulating Frequencies. • The initial value is 89.1 MHz. ( See Page 21 regarding switching CD player transmission frequency .) • If your radio does not have muting, there may be some noise before power switch of control unit is ON.
10 Using T rack Search/Fast Forward and Reverse Playing Compact Discs This product lets you select the track search function or fast for- ward/reverse function by changing the length of the time you press the button. or T rack Number Elapsed play time T rack search 0.
11 English Press button to pause during disc playback. Press button again to release pause. Pausing Repeat MEMO Y ou can select a track using the track search during pause. ( “ P AUSE ” is off while a track is being searched.) When the track search ends, the found track is paused at its beginning.
1. Select the desired repeat mode. 2. Hold down button for more than 2 second. Once the current track has been played, the microprocessor will randomly select the next and subsequent tracks. T o cancel random play , hold down but- ton for more than 2 seconds again.
English 13 1. Play the track you want to program. This function lets you program and play the tracks you want. Y ou can listen to just your favorite tracks. 2. Press button to program the track. ITS (Instant T rack Selection) [Page 13~15] Programming MEMO • The ADPS function* of the multi-play CD player lets you program up to 100 discs.
1. Select the desired repeat mode. Playing Compact Discs 14 2. Hold down button for more than 2 seconds. T o cancel ITS play , hold down button for more than 2 seconds again. ITS Play MEMO • If track repeat is selected as the repeat mode in step 1, it will automatically switch to disc repeat mode and ITS play will begin.
English 15 During ITS play , select the track you wish to erase by using track search. Hold down button for more than 2 seconds to erase the program. (When there are no more memo- rized tracks, “ EMPTY ” is displayed, and ITS play is canceled.
Playing Compact Discs 16 1. Select the disc for which you want to enter a title. Y ou can enter a title for the disc in the CD player . The title stored for the disc can be dis- played. 2. Hold down button for more than 2 seconds to select title input mode.
3. Press the or side of but- ton to select the input position. The input position moves continuously when you hold down either side of the button. 4. Select characters using the or side of button. When you hold down either side of the button, the character changes continu- ously .
Each press of the button switches between display of track number (elapsed play time) and disc title indications. Playing Compact Discs 18 MEMO • When you perform any operation while the disc title is being displayed, the nor- mal operation display will appear for 8 seconds.
English 19 Each press of button displays the titles of the discs in magazine being played in ascending order of disc number . MEMO • The disc title is displayed for about 8 seconds, then the normal operation dis- play returns. • Nothing is displayed for discs having no titles.
Playing Compact Discs 20 1. Press button to display the disc title list. Select the disc to be played from the disc list display 2. When the title of the disc you want to listen to is displayed, press button for more than 2 sec- onds. That disc is played.
English 21 1. Hold down button for more than 2 seconds. The modulator setting mode will be entered, and the fre- quency will be displayed. MEMO If you do nothing within the next 8 sec- onds, the modulator setting mode returns to the normal mode without changing the most recent settings.
Playing Compact Discs 22 Item Level 2. Set the items while refer- ring to the chart on the left. Button Display Pre- emphasis The last adjustment is kept as final.
English 23 T ake action according to the chart below . Check discs and magazine once more. If it still doesn ’ t work after checking. Press the CD player ’ s Clear button. (See Page 24.) If it still doesn ’ t work. Read “ After-sales service for Pioneer products ” and request servicing.
Pressing the Clear Button 24 After connecting everything up, press the clear button with the tip of a pencil. If the power will not switch on, or if the CD player does not operate, when the button on the control unit is pressed, or if the control unit display is incorrect, press this button with the tip of a pencil to restore normal operation.
T ranspor tation of multi-CD player English 25 A transport screw has been attached to the set in order to protect it during trans- portation. After removing the transport screw , cover the hole with the supplied seal. Be sure to remove the transport screw before mounting the set.

28 Pr é cautions • Lorsque vous utilisez ce système de CD multiple universel, la sensibilité effective de votre radio est légèrement réduite. • Lorsque l’on met hors tension l’auto- radio, le système reste en opération. Si on le laisse en opération pendant une longue durée, la batterie de la voiture pourrait s’épuiser .

Remarques sur les CD de 8 cm • Ne pas utiliser un adaptateur de CD de 8 cm. S ’ il est utilis é , le lecteur pourrait ne pas fonctionner . Pour charger un CD de 8 cm, il est n é cessair e d ’ avoir une plateau CD de 8 cm (Pi è ce No. CXB5931).
2 1 Mise en place d ’ un chargeur 32 • Ne pas mettre les doigts dans le tiroir du chargeur car cela peut entra î ner une anomalie de fonctionnement et un endommagement du lecteur .
1. Enclencher la radio et accorder et choisissez la modulation de fr é quence. • La valeur initiale est de 89,1 MHz. (Pour le choix de la fr é quence por teuse du signal du lecteur de CD, reportez-vous à la page 45.
34 Lecture de disques compacts Utilisation de la recherche de plage/ de l ’ avance rapide et de l ’ inversion Selon la dur é e de la pression exer- c é e sur la touche, cet appareil vous donne la facult é d ’ utiliser soit la fonction de recherche soit la fonction de l ’ avance rapide et de l ’ inversion.
35 Appuyer sur la touche pour effectuer une pause pendant la lec- ture des disques. Appuyer à nouveau sur la touche pour lib é rer la pause. On peut s é lectionner une plage en utilisant la recherche de num é ro de plage durant la pause. ( “ P AUSE ” est d é sactiv é e tandis qu ’ une plage est recherch é e.

37 Fran ç ais 1. Reproduire la plage que l ’ on veut programmer . Cette fonction permet de programmer et reproduire les pistes. On peut é couter les plages pr é f é r é es dans ce cas.
38 Lecture de disques compacts 2. Maintenir press é e la touche pen- dant plus de 2 secondes. Pour effacer la lecture al é atoire, main- tenir de nouveau enfonc é e la touche pendant plus de 2 secondes. 1. Choisissez le mode de r é p é tition d é sir é .
ITS joue le disque dont le num é ro ne doit plus faire partie du pro- gramme. Maintenez la pression d ’ un doigt sur la touche pendant plus de 2 secondes pour obtenir l ’ efface- ment. (Lorsque la m é moire ne contient plus aucun num é ro de plage musi- cale, l ’ indication “ EMPTY ” s ’ affiche et la lecture ITS est abandonn é e.
40 2. Maintenir press é e la touche pen- dant plus de 2 secondes pour s é lectionner le mode d ’ entr é e du titre. Lecture de disques compacts 1. S é lectionner le disque pour lequel on veut entrer un titre. On peut entrer un titre pour le disque dans le lecteur CD.
3. Appuyer sur le c ô t é ou de la touche pour s é lectionner la posi- tion d ’ entr é e. La position d ’ entr é e se d é place conti - nuellement lorsque l ’ on maintient enfonc é e les deux c ô t é s de la touche. 4. S é lectionner les caract è res en uti- lisant le c ô t é ou de la touche.
42 Lecture de disques compacts Chaque pression sur la touche provoque alternativement l ’ affichage du num é ro de plage musicale (temps é coul é ) ou du titre du disque.
43 Fran ç ais Chaque pression sur la touche affichera les titres des disques dans le chargeur en cours de lec- ture, selon l ’ ordre ascendant du num é ro de disque. Remarque • Le titre du disque sera affich é pendant environ 8 secondes, puis l ’ affichage d ’ op é ration normal sera r é tabli.
Lecture de disques compacts 44 1. Appuyez sur la touche pour affi- cher la liste des titres des disques. 2. Lorsque le titre du disque que l ’ on veut é couter est affich é , appuyer sur la touche pendant plus de 2 secondes. Ce disque sera reproduit dans ce cas.
