iv | Dome Display Product Information The design of the Dome CX/Do me EX digital displays takes into account every known measure to ensure your personal safety. Improper use of the displa y can result in elec tric shock, fir e, or damage to the display.
Product Information | v Symbol e xpla nations Intended use The Dome CX/Dome EX display is an AMLCD display designed for viewing medical X-ray images. This unit should not be used near patients and should be kept outside of 1.83 m perimeter and 2.29 m vertical.
vi | Dome Display Safety precautions External equipment intended for connection to s ignal input, signal output, or other connectors, must comp ly with the relevant IEC standard (EN/IEC 60601-1 series for medical elec trical equipment).
Product Information | vii Unpacking and handling tips The Dome display is a precision instru ment that requires proper care to maintain product operation and adhere nce to specification. Unpack the display and components carefully, then set up and handle the unit properly to avoid damage to the LCD panel.
viii | Dome Display Cleaning the display Observe the following guidelines to main tain the display and the L CD screen. • Use a clean, lint-free , absorbent cotton cloth to clear off any residual glue from r emoval of the prot ective film or to r emov e surface dust.

About the Display The Dome CX/Dome EX display systems, ranging from 2 to 5 megapixels, consists of a TFT LCD panel and a display board an d driver. The display’s thin film tr ansistors, in a transmissive-type display, use an integrated cold cathode fluorescent tube (CCFT) backlight system.

About the Display | 3 Display P o sitions You can adjust the tilt, height, viewi ng angle, and orie ntation of th e display to maintain an e rgonomic and comfortable viewing position. Make sure that your eyes are level with the top of the displa y cabinet so that you look downward to re ad the scr een contents.
4 | Dome Display Desk Stand F eatures Unfasten the stand lock to adjust display height. Remove the stan d cover to thread the power co rd and DVI ca ble connections to the display. To activate the USB hu b function, the display must be connected to a USB- compliant computer or anoth er hub with a USB cable.
Installing the Display | 5 Installing the Display Before you insta ll the Dome DX2 display controller, you must set th e DIP switches for your sy stem configuration.

Installing the Display | 7 Install the Display Contr oller Before you insta ll the Dome DX2 display controller, choose a well-ventilated l ocation with an adequate amou nt of space. Excessive heat cannot dissipate when display vents are blocke d. Make sure a grounded AC outlet is with in easy reach.
8 | Dome Display Connect the Video and P ower Cables Turn your computer of f. Leave the power cord plugged into the grounded outle t. Use the Dome display with the powe r adapter and video cable shipped. For the Dome E2 display, use po wer adapter Ault MW11 6KA1249F53.
Installing the Display | 9 Install Dome DX2 Driv er and Dome CXtra Sof tware Before you insta ll the driver, in stall all DX2 boards a nd connect all Dome displays first, then boot up your system to in stall the driver. Installation preparation Installing the DX2/PCI driver fo r your Sun host requires ab out 500 KB of free space.

12 | Dome Display Configur e Display Settings Before you configure your syst em for the Sun Common Desktop Environment or OpenWindow , you need to set th e display mode for your display controller . Planar provides a default display mo de that you can use or ove rride.
Installing the Display | 13 Overriding the default display mode To start CDE or OpenWindow us ing the default display mode, skip this section. You can override the def ault display mode by editing the OWconf i g file. Edit the OWconf ig file to override the de fault display mode and customize your conf iguration for Ope nWindow or CDE.

Installing the Display | 15 T o modify the OW config file This section explains th e first example from the preceding sample code, line by line, an d tells how to modify those lines to match the device you are installing.
16 | Dome Display board="dx2pci-2hd.xqa" This line indicates that you are using a DX2 board (dx2pci) that supports two heads (-2hd) and that the configurat ion of the board is located in the board file dx2pci-2hd.xqa . The board file is located in the directory /opt/DOMEd x2pci/boards .

For example, for a one-h eaded system using the DX 2 board, type: openwin -dev /dev/dx2pc i0.

Installing the Display | 21 Configure the W indow Envir onment Once you have set the display mode , you can configure your system to run either th e OpenWindow or the CDE window envir onment. NOTE: Board instances are assigned by the system. Running OpenWindow fr om the console For a one-headed system, type: openwin -dev /dev/dx2pci0.
22 | Dome Display T o use one or mor e DOME devices Replace the second :0 with the -dev option flag and the appropriate device file. For example, to use both heads o f an DX2 board, ch ange the line to this: :0 Local local_uid@console root /usr/openwi n/bi n/Xsun -dev /dev/d x2pci0.
Installing the Display | 23 DPMS Scr een Saver When you are r unning Solaris 2.6 to 10, CDE allows you to enable a Display Power Management Signalin g (DPMS) Screen Saver. DPMS provides a standard wa y to manage the power use d by your flat- panel display.

You can change the console with the pci-pr obe-l is t environment variable. If you want to change the console without altering th e probe list, change the ou tpu t-device environment vari able instead.
26 | Dome Display Dome CXtra Software The Dome CXtra application ships on the Dome DX2 Solaris driver CD. The Dome CXtra software is automa tically loaded with the default driver installation and added to the CDE Application Manager.
