1 Chapter 1 I ntroduction Thank you f or purchasing W A P-1963 . This device is an access point f or IEEE 802. 1 1b 2 . 4GHz w ireless net w ork. Y ou can use t his access point t o build up a w ireless LAN, any w ireless LAN s t a t ion can join the w ireless net w ork.

3 Chapter 2 H ard w a re Installation Before you p r oceed w ith the ins t allation, it is necessary that you have enough info r ma t ion about the W A P-1963 . 2. 1 Har d w a r e Connection 12V DC LAN RESE T ANT + 1. Locate an opt i mum l ocat i on for the W A P-1963.

5 3.1.1 Home: On this sc r een , you can see the general info r ma t ion o f t he A ccess Poin t including A lias Name , Firm w are V ersion , SSID , Channel Numbe r , Securit y , Number o f Associa t ed Clien t s , IP A ddress , M A C Address, etc .
6 3.1.2 Wi r eless Setting: In this op t ion, you can set the M ode, Alias Name, ESSID and W ork Channel to t his A ccess Point . W hen con f igu r ation finished, please click “ Apply ” to save. 3.1. 2 . 1 A P M ODE This mode is set to W A P-1963 by default.
7 Channel 1-13 (Europe) Associated Clien ts Click “ Sho w Active Clien ts ” bu t ton, then a “ Ac t ive W ireless Client T able ” w ill pop up as belo w . Y ou can see the s t a t us o f all active w ireless s t a t ions that are connecting to the access point.
8 3.1. 2 . 2 S T A T ION - A D HOC M ODE Served as a w ireless s t a t ion ( Ad-hoc ) . Connected to a PC or a small LAN, this s t ation along w ith other w ireless s t ations can es t ablish a small w ireless net w ork w ithout A ccess Poin t s. Parameters Description Alias Name The alias name of this access poin t .
9 Parameters Description Alias Name The alias name of this access poin t . ESSID The ESSID (up to 31 p r in t able ASCII cha r ac t ers) is t he unique name iden t ified in a W LAN . Please se t it as t he AP ’ s ESSID that you w ant to connect to. I n de f ault, the ESSID is “ default ” .
10 3.1.3 Wireless A d v ance Settings: Y ou can set advanced parameters of this W A P-1963. The paramete r s include Authentication T ype , Fragment Threshold, R TS Threshold, B eacon I nterval , Da t a Rate, P r eamble T ype, and Broadcas t ESSID.
11 R TS Threshold W hen the packet size is smaller the R TS th r eshold , the access poin t w ill not use the R TS/CTS mechanism t o send this packet. Beacon In t erval The interval of time t hat this access point broadcast a beacon. Beacon is used to synchronize the w ireless net w ork.
12 3.1.4 Securit y : W EP is an authentication algo r ithm, w hich protec t s authorized W ireless LAN users agains t eavesdropping . The Authen t ication type and W E P key of w i r eless s t ations must be t he same w ith t he Access Point. W A P - 1963 has support 64 / 128 - bit W E P Encryption func t ion.

14 3.1.5 M A C Filtering: This Access Point provides M AC Address Filtering , w hich p r even t s the unau t horized M AC Addresses from accessing your w ireless net w ork. Parameters Description MAC Address Filte r ing T able This t able records the M AC addresses o f w ireless s t ations you w ant to allo w to access you r net w ork.

16 3.1.6 S y stem Utilit y : From here , you can define the Access Point ’ s I P Add r ess and Login Pass w ord and enable the A ccess Point t o be a DHC P Serve r .
17 Re-Enter Pass w ord Recon f irm the pass w ord (up to 15- digit alphanumeric string) you w ant to login to t he A ccess Point. No t e that t he p ass w ord is case-sensitive. Management I P I P Add r ess Designate the Access P oint ’ s IP Add r ess.
18 3.1.7 Configuration T ool The Configu r ation T ool sc r een allo w s you to backup, r es t ore and reset W A P-1963 configu r ation settings. Saving t he configu r ation settings provides an added protection and convenience should problems occur w ith the W A P-1963 and you have t o reset to factory de f aul t .
19 3.1.8 Upgrade This page allo w s you to upg r ade W A P-1963 w ith w hen the ne w firm w are released. Parameter Description Firm w are Upgrade Y ou can use the “ Bro w se …” button t o find t he f irm w are loca t ion on your PC, and then press “ Apply ” button to upgrade your A ccess Point.
20 3.1.9 Reset Y ou can reset the A ccess Point ’ s sys t em should any problem e x ist. The reset f unction essen t iall y Re-boo t s your A ccess Point ’ s system. 21 Chapter 4 A ppl i cation This chapter describe the four opera t ing mode of your W A P-1963 . The four w orking modes of W A P-1963 are Access P oint , Access Point Client M ode, W ireless Bridge mode and M ultiple B r idge mode. 4.1 A ccess Point mode W i t h t his mode, you r W ireless net w ork connection could act as follo w ing.
