1 Thank you for choosing the SoundPoint ® IP 301 SIP . This unit provides b usiness telephony features and functions such as Multiple Call Appearances, Call Hold, T ransfer , and Conference over an IP network. In this User Guide you will find ev erything you need to quickly use your new phone.
2 Installing SoundPoint ® IP 301 SIP This section provides basic installation instructions and information for obtaining the best performance with the Sound- Point ® IP 301 SIP phone. If you require additional information or assistance with your new phone, please contact your sys- tem administrator .
3 Connecting the Handset and Optional Headset Attaching the Base (Optional) 1. Connect the short straight end of the phone cord to the handset and the corresponding longer straight end of the cord to the handset jack on the back of the phone. 2. Connect the headset (optional accessory) to the headset jack on the back of the phone.

6 Using SoundPoint ® IP 301 SIP Placing a Call Using the Handset: 1. T o obtain dial tone, pick up the handset. 2. Dial the desired number. Using Listen Mode: 1.

8 General Key Use T o navigate through menus and to enter data, these are useful tips: 1. Use and or the Next and Prev soft keys to scroll through lists.
9 T ransfer ring a Call A blind transfer (without consulta- tion) can also be supported by pr ess- ing the Blind soft ke y . 1. During a call, press the T rnsfr soft key (the acti ve call is placed on hold).
10 Y ou can congure your phone so that all incoming calls are forwarded to another party (known as static forwarding). Y ou can also forward calls while the phone is ringing (known as dynamic forwarding). All incoming calls can be forwarded to another party while Do Not Disturb is enabled on your phone.

13 Contact List In addition to a directory of missed, placed, or receiv ed calls, the phone can store a local directory of 200 or more contacts*. Y ou can add, delete, edit, dial, or search for any contact in this list through just a few k ey strokes.
14 Multiple Lines Y our SoundPoint ® IP 301 SIP can support up to two lines, each associated with its o wn line key . Lines can be configured for priv ate or shared lines. T ypically , the top-most line ke y is reserved for the principal directory number of the phone.
15 Multiple Call Appear ances Each line on the phone can be configured to hav e one or more call appearances. More than one call appearance is useful if there is an activ e call and an incoming call arriv es on the same line. In the example sho wn, there is in an outbound call with Bob Smith.
16 V oice Mail * V oice Mail is an optional featur e configured on the server and may not be supported on your particular system. Contact your system adminis- trator to find out. † Scr een options may vary with server-based application. V oice Mail can be accessed with a single ke y press.
17 Phone Re boot Periodically , the phone may require a user reboot. Reasons for this include accepting a new configuration or ne w software. There are two ways to reboot the phone: ► Simultaneo.
18 Presence / Status / Buddy Lists The phone combines interactiv e message services and status monitoring to comple- ment a traditional messaging application such as email. Liv e interaction within a pool of phones is possible by monitoring the “presence” of the parties in volv ed.

20 No Dial-T one V erify power is correctly applied to the SoundPoint ® IP 301 SIP phone: • Check that the display is illuminated. • Make sure the LAN cable is inserted properly at the rear of the phone (try unplugging and re-inserting the cable).
21 • As “No Display” abov e. No Audio on Headset V erify correct connections: • Ensure the headset is plugged into the jack marked Headset at the rear of the phone. • Ensure the headset amplifier (if present) is turned on and/or the volume is correctly adjusted.
