As with all machinery , ther e are certain hazar ds involved with the operation of the pr oduct. Using the machine with respect and caution will con- siderably lessen the possibility of personal injury .
3 3 ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES FOR MITER SA WS 1. USE ONL Y CROSS-CUTTING SAW BLADES. WHEN USING CARBIDE TIPPED BLADES, MAKE SURE THEY HA VE A NEGA TIVE HOOK ANGLE. 2. DO NOT OPERA TE the miter saw until it is com- pletely assembled and installed according to the instruc- tions.

This cir cuit should not be less than #12 wir e and should be protected with a time lag fuse.
5 Use proper extension cor ds. Make sur e your extension cord is in good condition and is a 3-wir e extension cor d which has a 3-prong gr ounding type plug and matching r eceptacle which will accept the machine’ s plug. When using an extension cord, be sur e to use one heavy enough to carry the curr ent of the machine.
6 UNP ACKING 1. Remove the miter saw and all loose items from the carton. IMPORT ANT : DO NOT LIFT THE MITER SAW BY THE SWITCH HANDLE AS THIS MA Y CAUSE MISALIGNMENT . AL WA YS LIFT THE MACHINE BY THE BASE OR CARRYING HANDLE (see (D) Fig. 4A . Fig. 2 illustrates the machine and all loose items after they have been removed fr om the carton.

8 F ASTENING MACHINE TO SUPPORTING SURF ACE Fig. 9 Before operating your compound miter saw , make sure it is firmly mounted to a stur dy workbench or other supporting surface. Four holes are pr ovided, two of which are shown at (A) Fig. 9, for fastening the saw to a supporting surface .

Using a straight edge (G) Fig. 23, determine if the two fence halves are parallel to each other by placing the straight edge against the front surfaces of the fence as shown.
