12 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co ver items that ha ve been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receiv e full value from the w arranty , the operator must main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.
13 MAINTENANCE FIG. 18 Disconnect spark plug wire before perf orming any maintenance (except car bu re tor adjustment) to prevent accidental start ing of engine. Prevent fi res! Keep the engine free of grass, leaves, spilled oil, or fuel. Re move fuel fr om tank before tipping unit for maintenance.
14 MAINTENANCE MUFFLER Do not operate tiller without muffl er . Do not tamper with e xhaust system. Damaged muffl ers or spark arresters could create a fi re hazard. Inspect pe ri odi cally and re place if nec es sary . If y our engine is equipped with a spar k arrester screen assembly , re move e v er y 50 hours f or cleaning and inspection.
15 tire_3 TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 22) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions. Handle height will be diff erent when tiller digs into soil. • First loosen handle loc k lev er . • Handle can be positioned at different settings between “HIGH” and “LO W” positions.

17 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS T O REPLA CE GROUND DRIVE BEL T (See Figs. 27 and 28) • Remove belt guard as described in “T O REMO VE BEL T GU ARD”. • Remove old belt b y slipping off engine pulley fi rst then remov e from transmission pulley . • Place new belt in groo ve of transmission pulle y and into engine pulley .

19 Immediately prepare your tiller f or storage at the end of the season or if the unit will not be used f or 30 days or more . W ARNING: Ne ver store the tiller with gasoline in the tank inside a build ing where fumes may reac h an open fl ame or spark.
