5 ASSEMBL Y • Grasp handle assembly . Hold in “up” position. Be sure handle lock remains in gearcase notch. Slide handle assembly into position. 8 TURNING • Release the drive control bar . • Mo ve throttle control to “SLO W” position. • Place shift le v er indicator in “F” (forw ard) position.

10 R U N C H O K E OPERA TION • Soil conditions are impor tant for proper tilling. Tines will not readily penetrate dry , hard soil which ma y con trib ute to e xcessive bounce and diffi cult handling of your tiller . Hard soil should be mois tened bef ore tilling; howe v er , e xtremely wet soil will “ball-up” or clump during tilling.
11 MAINTENANCE GENERAL RECOMMEND A TIONS The warranty on this tiller does not co ver items that ha ve been subjected to operator ab use or negligence. T o receive full value from the w arranty , the operator must main tain tiller as instructed in this manual.

14 SER VICE AND ADJUSTMENTS CA UTION: Disconnect spark plug wire fr om spark plug and place wire where it cannot come into contact with plug. TILLER T O ADJUST HANDLE HEIGHT (See Fig. 20) Select handle height best suited f or your tilling conditions. Handle height will be diff erent when tiller digs into soil.

18 ST ORA GE ENGINE OIL Drain oil (with engine warm) and replace with clean oil. (See “ENGINE” in the Maintenance section of this man ual). CYLINDER(S) • Remo ve spark plug. • P our 1 ounce (29 ml) of oil through spar k plug hole into cylinder .
19 Will not start 1. Out of fuel. 1. Fill fuel tank . 2. Engine not “CHOKED” properly . 2. See “TO ST ART ENGINE” in Operation section. 3. Engine fl ooded. 3. W ait sev eral minutes bef ore attempting to star t. 4. Dir ty air cleaner. 4. Clean or replace air cleaner car tridge.
