9 INST ALL SEA T Adjust seat bef ore tightening adjustment knob . 1. Remov e adjustment knob and fl at washer securing seat to cardboard packing and set aside f or assembly of seat to tractor . 2. Piv ot seat upward and remo v e from the cardboard packing.

12 CHECK TIRE PRESSURE The tires on your tr actor were o v erinfl ated at the f actor y f or shipping pur poses. Cor- rect tire pressure is impor tant for best cutting perf ormance. • Reduce tire pressure to PSI shown in “PRODUCT SPEC I FI CA TIONS” section of this manual.

17 T O TRANSPORT When pushing or towing y our tractor , be sure to disengage transmission b y placing freewheel control in free wheel ing po si tion. F reewheel control is located at the rear dra wbar of tractor . 1. Raise attachment lift to highest posi- tion with at tach ment lift control.
18 T O ST AR T ENGINE When star ting the engine for the fi rst time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take e xtra cranking time to mo v e fuel from the tank to the engine. 1. Be sure free wheel control is in the trans mis sion en gaged position.
19 MO WING TIPS • Mower should be properly le veled f or best mowing perf or mance. See “T O LEVEL MO WER HOUSING” in the Ser vice and Adjustments sec tion of this manual. • The left hand side of mower should be used f or trim ming. • Drive so that clippings are dis charged onto the area that has already been cut.

BRAKE OPERA TION If tractor requires more than six (6) f eet stopping distance at high speed in high est gear , then brak e must be ad just ed. Re place belts if they begin to slip from wear . ENGINE LUBRICA TION Only use high quality detergent oil rated with API ser vice classifi cation SF-SJ .
23 MUFFLER Inspect and replace corroded muffl er and spark arrester (if equipped) as it could cre- ate a fi re hazard and/or dam age. SP ARK PLUG(S) Replace spark plug(s) at the beginning of each mowing season or after e very 100 hours of operation, whiche ver occurs fi rst.

Grasp hood at sides, tilt to ward engine and lift off of tractor . 4. When replacing hood, be sure to reconnect the headlight wire con nec tor .
