4 S Turn the engine of f and let s aw cool in a non-c om bus tible area, not on dry leav es, str aw , paper , etc . Slowly r emove fuel c ap and refuel unit. S Store the unit and fuel in an area where fuel vapor s cannot reac h spark s or open flames from water heaters , elec tric motor s or sw itches , furnaces , etc.

11 NOTE: If the engine sounds as if it is t rying to s tart before the 5th pull, stop pulling and immediately pr oceed to the nex t step. 5. Pus h the chok e/fast idle lev er in to the HALF C HOKE pos ition. OFF HALF CHOKE /F A ST IDLE LEVER FULL 6. Pull the s tarter rope s harply with your right hand until t he engine start s.
12 S Prac tice c utting a few small logs us ing the following tec hniques to get t he “ feel” of us- ing your s aw before y ou begin a major saw ing operation. S Squeez e the thrott le trigger and allow the engine to reac h full speed befor e c utting.
13 NOTE: Befor e felling cut is c omplete, use wedges to open the cut if nec ess ary to cont rol the direct ion of fall. T o av oid kic kbac k and chain damage, us e wood or plast ic wedges , but never s teel or iron wedges .

16 CHECK CHAIN BRAKE See CHAIN BRAKE in the OPERA TION sec tion. CLEAN AIR FIL TER CAUTION: Do not c lean filter in gas oline or other flammable s olvent to av oid creating a fire haz ard or produc ing harmful ev aporativ e emiss ions.
17 WAR N I NG : Wear prote ctiv e gloves when handl ing chain. The c hain is s harp and c an cut y ou even w hen it is n ot moving. Conditi ons w hich indic ate the need for ch ain s harpening: S Reduc tion in siz e of wood c hips. The siz e of the wood c hip will decr ease as the chain gets duller until it bec omes more like a powder t han a chip.
18 Idle S pe ed - - T Allow engin e to idle. If the chai n moves, idle is too fast. If the engine stall s, idle is too slow . Ad - jus t speed unt il engine runs wit hout ch ain mov em ent ( idle too fast ) or sta lling (idle too s low). The idle s peed sc rew is loc ated in the area abov e the primer bulb and is labeled T .
19 TROUBLE CAUSE REMEDY Engine w ill not st art or will r un only a few sec onds after st arting. 1. Ignition s witch off. 2. Engine flooded. 3. Fuel tank empty. 4. Spark plug not firing. 5. Fuel not reac hing c arburetor . 1. Mov e ignition sw itch to O N.
