4 T weeter le vel control - A three-position s witch adjusts the v olume of the tweeter with respect to the midrange. T weeter phase switch - A two-position switch which allows 180° or 0° phase diff erence betw een the tweeters and midranges.
5 CA UTIONS Study your automobile thoroughly before you dr ill or cut any holes. T ake e xtra care when wor king near gas tanks, gas lines, brake or hydr aulic lines and electr ical wiring. W ear ey e and ear protection when using power tools. Keep the woofers and tweeters a way from metal filings and shavings.
6 installation planning Proper installation planning is the best w a y to maximize perf or mance. By planning your installation carefully y ou can av oid situations where the perf or mance or reliability of your system is compromised.
7 ear lev el. Place the tweeters in similar locations on both sides of the v ehicle. T ry a f ew locations by just placing the tweeter or taping it in a location and listening to ensure the desired stereo image and high frequency dispersion are achie ved bef ore committing to a location by drilling holes in the vehicle .

10 automatically resets. T weeter DC Clip Protector These components limit the amount of current delivered to the tweeter if they are ov erdr iven by either excess amplification or clipped signal from an overdriv en amplifier . Connections to the amplifier The crossov ers are supplied with a removab le screw type connector .
1 1 e very speaker and amplifier connection. The supplied speaker wire has a white stripe to indicate the (+) positive conductor . T ermination The woof er uses an angled locking screw connection integ rated to the basket of the speaker . The tweeter wires are ter minated with molded connectors (male and f emale).
12 Install the speakers by gradually tightening each mounting screw . Tighten the screws until the speaker is well seated, but take care not to over-tighten. TWEETER INST ALLA TION The speaker system is supplied with fiv e diff erent tweeter mounting options: coaxial, surface , surf ace angle, flush, and angled flush mount.
13 T weeter Coaxial Extension T weeter Speaker Wires Mounting Slots (qty 4) Mounting T abs (qty 4) CA UTION: Do NO T ov er tighten the tweeter assembly . Now f eed the tweeter speak er wires through the front center of the w oof er (where the alumin um b ullet w as remov ed) As shown in the ne xt illustration.
14 (24 mm) apar t. Use a 1/8" (3 mm) drill bit for the supplied screws to mount the cup . The third 1/4” (7 mm) hole is required for the wire to pass through. Use the template provided to locate the hole centers . Cut car peting or f abr ic aw a y from the hole locations to prev ent tangling of fibers in the dr ill bit.
15 from the hole locations to prev ent tangling of fibers in the saw blade. Inser t the two M4-0.7 X 4-1/2 cm (1.77 inches) flat head metal screws through the mounting holes and just star t the threads into the metal mounting brack et.
16 T weeter Bolts Panel Bracket T weeter Wire Flush Mount Housing Wiring NO TE: The tweeter grill can be easily remov ed f or coaxial applications, or to f acilitate mounting the tweeter behind an e xisting factory grill. Use the supplied blac k butyl mater ial to attach the tweeter grill for all other applications.
17 CROSSO VER INST ALLA TION The system supports con ventional wiring, Bi-wiring or Bi-amping using the supplied passive crossovers . While conv entional (parallel mode) wiring will provide e xcellent sound, bi-wiring or bi-amping may fur ther enhance the perf or mance in no-compromise systems.
18 After all the connections and any necessar y adjustments have been made snap the cov er back in place. connecting the system T r im the speaker wire as needed. Str ip about 1/4" (6 mm) of the insulation from the ends. T wist the exposed strands thoroughly to pre vent an y loose strands from causing a shor t circuit.
19 CROSSO VER CONNECTIONS AND INPUT SWITCH SETTING Route the wires connected to the input ter minals on the crossov er network to the power amplifier . Connect the wires to the amplifier outputs as recommended by the manufacturer of the unit. Make sure there are no stray strands of wire which could cause a shor t circuit.
20 BI-AMPLIFIER CONNECTIONS TO CROSSO VER Connections from the crossover to the woof er and tweeter are the same as the normal wiring method. Connect the amplifier you hav e chosen for the tweeter to the “T weeter In” ter minals input. Connect the woof er amplifier to the “Woof er In” ter minals.
21 BI-WIRE CONNECTIONS TO CROSSO VER Connections from the crossover to the woof er and tweeter are the same as the normal wir ing method. Connect the amplifier to the tweeter input ter minals with one r un of wire. Connect the amplifier to the woof er input ter minals with another run of wire.
22 TROUBLESHOO TING Symptom Probab le Cause Remedy No output Source or amplifier not turned on. Check source or amplifier and fix as required. A udio input not con- nected or no output from source. Check RCA connection and signal integrity , fix or replace as required.
23 Speaker not connect- ed properly . Check speak er wr ing and fix or replace as needed. Ref er to the speaker wiring section of this manual f or detailed instr uctions. Speaker damaged. Check system with kno wn work- ing speaker and fix or replace as required P oor bass re- sponse Speakers wired with wrong polarity .
