5 T hank you for selecting the revolutionary PROFORM ® 6 95 Pi treadmill. The 695 Pi treadmill offers an impres- sive array of features designed to make your workouts at home more enjoyable and effective.
6 ASSEMBL Y T o hire an authorized service technician to assemble the treadmill, call toll-free 1-800-445-2480. Assembly requires two persons. Set the treadmill in a cleared area and remove all packing materials. Do not dispose of the packing materials until assembly is completed.
7 4. Orient the Latch Housing (73) so the large hole is on the indicated side. Attach the Latch Housing to the left Upright (84) with two Latch Screws (3); start both Latch Screws and then tighten them. Remove the knob from the pin. Make sure that the collar and the spring are on the pin.
5 . Place the treadmill in the storage position (see HOW TO FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL on page 17). Next, place the cylinder end of the Gas Spring (19) near t he bracket on the base of the Uprights (84).
9 OPERA TION AND ADJUSTMENT T HE PRE-LUBRICATED WALKING BELT Your treadmill features a walking belt coated with high- performance lubricant. IMPORTANT: Never apply sil- icone spray or other substances to the walking belt or the walking platform. Such substances will deteriorate the walking belt and cause excessive wear.
10 FEATURES OF THE CONSOLE The treadmill console offers an impressive array of features designed to make your workouts more effective. When the manual mode of the console is selected, the speed and incline of the treadmill can be changed with the t ouch of a button.
1 1 HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER N ote: To prevent damage to the walking platform, always wear clean shoes when using the treadmill. Plug in the power cord (see page 9). Next, locate the reset/off circuit breaker near the power cord. Make sure that the circuit breaker is in the reset po- sition.
The left side of the dis- play will show the incline l evel of the treadmill, the elapsed time, and the d istance you have walked or run. Note: When a program is selected (except for heart rate program 2), the display will show the time remain- ing in the program instead of the elapsed time.
13 H OW TO USE A PRESET PROGRAM I nsert the key into the console. S ee HOW TO TURN ON THE POWER on page 11. S elect a preset program. To select one of the six preset programs, press the Program Select button repeatedly until “P3,” “P4,” “P5,” “P6,” “P7,” or “P8” appears in the dis- play.
14 Follow your progress with the display. See step 5 on page 11. Measure your heart rate if desired. S ee step 6 on page 12. Turn on the fan if desired. See step 7 on page 12. When you are finished exercising, remove the key from the console. See step 8 on page 12.
15 E nter a target heart rate setting. If heart rate program 1 is selected, the maxi- mum target heart rate setting of the program will appear in the dis- p lay. If desired, press the Heart Rate increase and decrease buttons to change the maximum target heart rate setting (see EXERCISE INTENSITY on page 21).
16 THE INFORMATION MODE/DEMO MODE T he console features an information mode that keeps track of the total number of hours that the treadmill has b een operated and the total number of miles that the walking belt has moved.
17 HOW T O FOLD AND MOVE THE TREADMILL HOW TO FOLD THE TREADMILL FOR STORAGE Before folding the treadmill, adjust the incline to the lowest position. If this is not done, the treadmill may be per- m anently damaged. Next, unplug the power cord. CAUTION: You must be able to safely lift 45 pounds (20 kg) to raise, lower, or move the treadmill.
18 HOW TO LOWER THE TREADMILL FOR USE 1. Hold the upper end of the treadmill with your right hand. Pull the latch knob to the left and hold it. Pivot the frame down until the catch is past the latch pin. 2. Hold the metal frame firmly with both hands , and lower it to the floor.
19 TROUBLESHOOTING Most treadmill problems can be solved by following the steps below. Find the symptom that applies, and follow the steps listed. If further assistance is needed, please see the front cover of this manual. PROBLEM: The power does not turn on SOLUTION: a.
With the help of a second person, carefully raise the Uprights (84) to the position shown. Caref ully pi vot th e H ood (41) off. L ocate the Reed Switch (63) and the Magnet (46) on the right side of the Pulley (47). Turn the Pulley until the Magnet is aligned with the Reed Switch.
21 CONDITIONING GUIDELINES The following guidelines will help you to plan your ex- ercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician.
22 SUGGESTED STRETCHES T he correct form for several basic stretches is shown at the right. Move slowly as you stretch—never bounce. 1 . Toe Touch Stretch Stand with your knees bent slightly and slowly bend forward from your hips. Allow your back and shoulders to relax as you reach down toward your toes as far as possible.
