59060-05 A 2-1 2 Event s and Event Logging Messages originate from the switch, from En terprise Fabric Suite 20 07, or from the QuickT ools web applet in response to events tha t occur in the fabric.
2 – Events and Event Loggin g Displaying Events usi ng the Event Browser 2-2 59060-05 A S Displaying Event s using the Event Browser Both Enterprise Fabric Suite 2007 an d QuickT ools have an event browser that displays a list of event s generated by the switches in the fabric and by the applications themselves.
2 – Events and Eve nt Log ging Displaying the Events Usin g the Command Line Interface 59060-05 A 2-3 A In the CLI, each message has the followin g format: [ordinal][time_stamp][severity][source][message_ID][message_text] Here is a sample of an informative-level message from the Switch source : [1][Wed May 26 12:30:29.
2 – Events and Event Loggin g Configuring the Event Log 2-4 59060-05 A S Configuring the Event Log Y ou can customize what event s are recorded in the switch event log using the Set Log command. With the Set Log comman d, you can filter the event s to be recorded by component, specific port s, and severity level.

Co nfiguring an alarm involves choosing an event type, rising and falling triggers, a sample window , and finally enabling or disabling the alarm.

3 – Event Me ssages Fault Events 3-2 59060-05 A S F AN1_MISSING Meaning: F AN1 is not installed. FW_APP_F AIL Meaning: Internal application failure. FW_APP_PEER_F AUL T Meaning: Application declared an e rror communicating with other CPU. FW_APP_SELF_F AUL T Meaning: Application declared an int ernal fault.

HW_MP_ACCESS_CPU0 Meaning: The maintenance p anel SPROM dat a accessed through CPU0 is either inaccessible or invalid. HW_MP_ACCESS_CPU1 Meaning: The maintenance p anel SPROM dat a accessed through CPU1 is either inaccessible or invalid.

3 – Event Messages Alarm Events 59060-05 A 3-5 A (A1003.0010) (Segmenting, zoneset zone_ set_name not defined) Meaning: In non-interop mode, there is a co nflict in the zoning configuration, causing the Inter-Switch Link (ISL) to isola te. The zone set is not found within the local zoning dat a base while interop mode is disabled.

Action: Check the status of th e switch given by d omain_ID . (A1003.0017) (Activation of zoneset by management server failed due to port port_number out of range.

Action: Modify the zoning database o n the remote switch to remove or correct the empty zone set.

3 – Event Messages Alarm Events 59060-05 A 3-9 A (A1003.0031) (Error reading zoneset from a ctivate direct.) Meaning: A device supporting th e management server has sent an Activate Zoneset Direct $(AZSD) command that did not follow the expected standard layout.

Action: Configure one of the switches to be the p rincipal switch by changing the principal priority .

3 – Event Me ssages Alarm Events 3-32 59060-05 A S (A1006.0006) (Zoning conflict, device_ WWN and device_WWN do not share an ACL hard zone, but device_WWN share a sof t zone) Meaning: The named zone members cannot commu nicate because they are members of dif ferent ACL hard zones.

3 – Event Me ssages Alarm Events 3-40 59060-05 A S (A1007.0036) (Port t aken offline du e to port binding failure following configuration change.) Meaning: A configuration change was mad e to the port binding list such that the device(s) on the port were no longe r allowed to be logged in.
