Keep in mind that the maximum weight capacity includes the combine d wei ght of the user and any accessories mounted to the power chair.

Do not attempt to negotiate o bstacles with the seat in a reclined position unless an at tendant is present to help stab ilize the chair.
12 www.pridemobility.com Q6 Edge HD Outdoor Driving Surfaces Your power chair is designe d to provide optimum stab ility under normal driving c onditions—dry, level surfaces composed of concrete, blacktop, or asphalt. However, Pride recognizes th at there will be times when you will encounter other surface types.

The batteries, motors, and controller power module (if equipped) are located on the power base assembly.

YOUR POWER CHAIR Manual Freewheel Levers For your convenience, your power chair is equipped with a manual freewheel lever mounted on each motor. The levers allow you to disengage the drive motors and maneuver the chair manually.

Once seated, insert the metal tab on one side of the belt into the plas tic housing on the opposite side until you hear a click. See figure 20. 2. Pull the excess strap attached to the metal tab until it is secure, but not so tight as to cause discomfort.
Q6 Edge HD www.pridemobility.com 31 VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING BATTERIES AND CHARGING The Q6 Edge HD uses two long-lasting, 12-volt, deep-cycle batteries. These batteries are sealed and maintenance free. Since they are sealed, there is no need to check the electrolyte (fluid) le vel.
32 www.pridemobility.com Q6 Edge HD VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING Battery Break-in To break in new batterie s for maximum efficiency: 1. Fully recharge any new battery prior to its initial us e. This brings the battery up to about 90% of its peak performance level.
Q6 Edge HD www.pridemobility.com 33 Daily Use If you use your power chair on a daily basis, charge the batteries as soon as you ar e finished using your power chair. Your power chair will be re ady each morning to give you a full da y’s service.
34 www.pridemobility.com Q6 Edge HD VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING How can I ensure maximum battery life? A fully charged deep-cycle battery will provide reliabl e performance and extended ba ttery life. Keep your power chair’s batteries fully charged whenever possible.
Q6 Edge HD www.pridemobility.com 35 CARE AND MAINTENANCE Your Q6 Edge HD is a sophist icated power chair. Like any motorized vehicle, it requires routine maintenance checks. You can perform some of thes e checks, but others require assist ance from your Quantum Rehab Provider.
36 www.pridemobility.com Q6 Edge HD The body shroud has been spra yed with a clear sealant coating. You ca n apply a light coat of car wax to help it retain its high-gloss appearance. Check all electrical connections. Make sure they are tight and are not corro ded.

See VI. “Batteries and Charging.” WARNING! If you fail to store the uni t properly, the frame can rust and the electronics can be damaged.

Set the power chair up on blocks. 3. If you are changing a pneumatic tire, comple tely deflate it befo re removing the wheel.
