2 FEATURES The Radi oShack Door Alar m is your 2 4- hour “elec tronic s entry . ” You can choose betwee n an insta nt alarm (f or when you are home) or a del ayed ala rm (giving you ti m e to d i s arm the alarm af ter you r eturn home ). Disar m ing is ea sy usi ng one of the two k eys that come wi th your al arm.

4 PREPARATION INSTALLING A BATTERY Your al arm require s one 9-vol t batter y (not suppl ied) for power . For the best perf or- manc e and longest l ife, we rec omm end an alka line battery, such as Rad ioShack Cat. No. 23-5 53. Cauti ons: U s e only a fre sh battery of the requi red s ize and type.
5 1. Use a Phi llips screwdri ver to r emove the s crew from the ba ttery compa rt- ment cover , then sl i de the cover of f. 2. Snap t he conn ector over t he 9-vol t batt ery’s t erminal s and place the bat - ter y in the com partment. 3. Replac e the c over , then rei nsert and ti ghten the screw .
6 MOUNTING THE ALARM Your al arm is designed for mou nt ing on non-met allic doo rs and windows only . It uses a magn et to t ri gger t he inter nal alar m. Moun ting on metal su rfaces can int erfere with proper operati on of the mag netic se n- sor .
7 Screw Mounting 1. Using the suppl ied dri lling t emplate , mark th e screw cent er points f or both the al arm and magn et. Y ou can d ril l star ter holes t o make it ea sier t o in sert the scr ews. 2. Thread screws (suppl i e d) into h oles A and B unti l the screws’ heads ext end about 1 / 8 inch ( 3 mm) from the mount- ing sur face.
8 3. Line up the k eyhole s l o ts on the ba ck of t he alarm wit h the sc rews, then sli de the alarm down ont o the scr ews to secu re it. 4. Remov e the bat - ter y compartmen t cover and the bat- ter y . T hen thread a scr ew int o hole C insi de the com- part ment.
9 Adhesive T ape Mounting 1. Clean and dry the mounti ng surfaces for both the a larm a nd the m agnet. 2. Peel the backing of f of on e sid e of each of the su pplie d adhesi ve strips , then at tach them to the back of the alar m and t he magnet . 3.

12 Delayed Ala rm To ar m the alar m when you l eave t he house, set the mode s witch to Delayed Alarm and set the key swit ch to On . On ce th e sw itc h is se t to On , ther e is about a 15-s econd del ay befor e the alarm i s armed, givi ng you time to go out and close the door .
