8 Mou nting the Base Direct ly on t he W all For this mounting method, you need two flat-head wo od screws (not sup- plied) with heads that fit into the key- hole slots on the bottom of t h e base. 1. D rill two h oles 3 5 / 16 inches apart. Then thread a s crew into each hole, letting the heads extend ab out 3 / 16 i n c h f r o m t h e wall.

10 Notes: • I f the CHA RGE indicator doe s not light when you pla ce the h andset on the base, be sure the battery pack and AC ada pter are correctly and securely connec ted. Also, check the ch arging con tacts on the hand set and the bas e. If t he c o nta cts ar e dir t y or t a rn is he d , clean them with a p enc il eraser .
11 SETTI NG THE D IALING MO DE Set DIA L MODE on the ba ck of the base for the type of service you have. If you are not sure wh ich type you hav e, do thi s t es t. 1. Set DIAL MODE to T . 2. Lift the handset and listen f or a dial tone. 3. Press any numb er other than 0 .
12 OPE R ATION MAKING AN D RECEIVING CALLS To make o r answer a call, lift the han d- set. Or, if the handset is away from the cr a dle , press TA L K .
13 Notes: • The redial m emory holds up to 32 digits, so you can redial lon g- distance as well as local num bers. • The redial memory also holds pause entries. See “Entering a Pause ” on Page 15. • T he redial me mory does not s t o re a flash entry or an y digi ts you press a fter FLASH (see “Using F las h” ).
14 PAGING To page t he person who has t he hand- set or to locate the handset when the phone is no t in use, press PA G E on the base. The h andset beeps f or 2 sec- onds. MEMORY DIALI NG You can store up t o 10 num bers i n memory, t hen d ial a sto red num ber by pressing a one - d igit memory location number.
15 6. Attach the sticker to the phone. To erase a stored number, simpl y store a new number in i ts place. Or, lift the handset, pre ss TA L K if the TALK/BATT LOW indicat or lights, and press MEMO twice . Then pres s t he memory location number ( 0 – 9 ) you want to c l ear.
16 T ROUBLES HOOTING We do not expect you to h av e any problem s with y our phone, but if you d o, the fol- lowing sugg estions might help. Problem Sugg estion Low volume or unusual sounds . Som eone has picked up anothe r phone on the same line. Hang up the other phone.
17 If you still have probl ems, disconnec t the phone. If other phones on the same li ne work prop erly, the faul t is i n this phone or its in stallation. I f you cannot f ind the prob- lem, tak e your phone to your lo cal RadioShac k store for assistance.

19 REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK If you follow the instructions in “ Con- necting and Cha rging the Battery Pack” on P age 9, the bat tery pack should last about one year. If the bat - tery does n ot hold a charge f or mo r e than 2 hours after an overnight c harge, replace the battery with a new 3.
