3 Auto Talk — you can a nswer a call by just lifting the h andset fr om the b ase. He ar in g -A id Com p a tib il ity — lets you use you r phone with hearing ai ds that have a T (telephone) switch. This telephone has b een teste d and found to com ply with all applicable UL and FCC standards.
4 READ THIS BEFORE IN ST ALLA TION Each device t hat you connect to the phone line draws power f rom the phone line. We refer to this power draw as the device’s ringer equ ivalence n umber , o r REN. The REN is on the bottom of the base. If you are using more than one phon e o r other device on the l ine, add up all the RENs .

6 IN STALLATI ON SELECTI NG A LOCATION You can place the ET-925’s base on a desk top or table, or m ount i t on a wal l. Select a location that is: • near an A C outlet • near a telephone lin e .

8 5. Plug the short modular cord into the wall plate jack, press the ex- cess cord in to the slot i n the c en- ter of the base, then align the base’s keyhole slots with the wall plate studs and slide the base downward to secure i t.
9 4. Insert the supplie d AC adapter ’s barrel plug into the DC IN 9V ja ck on the back of the b ase. 5. Route the a dapter ’s cord t hrough the right side of the strain relief slot on top of the base and through both the uppe r and low er grooves on the bottom of t he base.
10 CONNECTING AND CHARGING T HE BATTERY PACK The ET-925 com es with a recharge- able nickel-cadmiu m battery pack in the handset. Before using your phone, you mus t connect the battery pack and then charge it f or about 14 hours.
11 • When you first use the phone after charging or r e c h arging the battery pack, the pho ne might not work and y ou might hear an error to ne. If this h appens, return t he hands et to the base for a few seconds.
12 SETTI NG THE R INGER On th e Handse t The ringe r on the ha ndset is turned on whenever the handset is off the base. You can select o ne o f four different ringer tone/volume s ettings on the handset while the phone is not in use. Pr ess VOLUME to hear t he c urrent ringer setting.
13 To connec t the headset, pul l open the rubber cover marked on the side of the handset , then insert the headset’s 3 / 32 -inch (2.5 mm ) plug i nto the j ack. Notes : • Connecting a head set dis con- nects the handset ’ s earpiece and microphone.
14 OPE R ATION Note : To use the speak erphone, you must use the base keypad; to use the handset , you must u se t he handset keypad. MAKING AN D RECEIVING CALLS Using the Handset To make or answer a cal l, simply lift the han dset. Or , if the h andset is not on the base, press TA L K .
15 Switc hing Bet ween th e Han dset an d Sp eakerph one To switch to the s peakerphone while you are using the han dset, press SPEAKER on t he bas e. Wh en you hear the conversation or the dial tone on the spea kerphone, press TA L K on the han dset or pl ace the handset on the b a se .
16 USING REDIAL You can quickly dia l the last number di - aled. Whe n you hear the dial tone, sim - ply press REDI AL on the base (or REDIAL/P on t he handset ). Notes: • T he redial memory i s separate for each keypad. Y ou c annot redial a number you diale d on the handset keypad using REDI AL on the base keypad, and vice versa.
17 3. When t he service answers, press TON E / . Any addi tional numbers you dial are sent as tone s ignals. 4. After you complete the c all, return the handset to the base, press TA L K , or press SPEAKER . The phone automaticall y resets to the pulse m ode.
18 1. Press MEM on the handset or the base. T he T ALK/B A TT LO W or IN USE i ndicato r blinks . Note: If you hear a dial tone when you pick up the hands et, press TA L K to turn it off before pressing MEM .
19 Dia li ng a M e mo ry Num ber To dial a numbe r stored in the h andset ’s mem ory, lift the ha ndset from t he base or press TA L K . When you hear t he dial tone, s imply p ress MEM and enter t h e me mor y loc ati on nu m ber fo r t he nu m ber you want to dial.
20 T ROUBLES HOOTING We do not e xpect you to have any problem s with your phone, but if you do, the foll ow- ing suggestions might help. Pro blem Su gg estion Low volume or unusual sounds . Som eone h as picked up ano the r phone on the same line. Hang up the other phone.
21 If you still have problem s, disconnect the pho ne. If other ph ones on the same line work properly, the fault is in this pho ne or its installation . If you cannot find the problem, take your phone to your local RadioShack store for a ssistance. The ha ndset bat tery pac k does not charge.

23 REPLACING THE BATTERY PACK If you follow the instr u ctions in “ Co n- necting and Cha rging the Battery Pack” on Page 10, the battery pack should last about one year. If the bat - tery pack doe s not hold a charge for more than 2 hours after an overnight charge, replace the bat tery with a new 3.
