4 Helpful Hints An RF coaxial cable (to con- nect the Cable Box to the TV) may be supplied by the Cable TV company . It is not supplied with the TV . Y ou can connect a Satellite Receiver the same way you would connect a Cable Box. Y our Cable Box may have separate Audio and Video Out jacks.
5 Basic Antenna Connection A combination antenna receives normal br oadcast channels (VHF 2-13 AND UHF 14-69). Y our connection is easy since you will connect the antenna to the 75 OHM ANTENNA INPUT jack on the rear of the TV . If your antenna has a round cable (75 ohm) on the end, then you ar e ready to connect it to the TV .
6 Basic TV to VCR Connection Helpful Hints Audio and video cables are not supplied with the TV . Audio cables are usually r ed and white. Video cables ar e usually yellow . Y our VCR may not have Audio and Video Out jacks, but only an RF or ANTENNA OUT jack.
7 Description of Buttons on the TV If you cannot locate your remote, you can use the buttons on your TV to operate many of the TV’ s features. (Models 20F511T , 20F512T , 24F512T and 27V412T) STANDBY (LED INDICATOR) Lights to show AC power is available.
8 Remote Contr ol Battery Installation T o load batteries into the remote contr ol: Remove the battery compartment lid on the rear of the r emote. Press in the tab, then lift off the lid. Place two AA batteries in the remote. Be sure the (+) and (-) ends of the batteries line up correctly (as marked inside the battery compartment).
9 Remote Contr ol When operating the remote, point it dir ectly at the fr ont of the TV . Objects between the remote and the r emote sensor can block the signal to the TV . CALENDAR Press to display or close the calendar . CAPS Press to toggle the entry mode between upper case or lowercase letters.

11 Main Menu Picture Sound Prefer ences Time Setup Helpful Hints When CA TV is selected, channels 1-125 are available. When TV is selected, only channels 2-69 are available. Y ou cannot select the Setup menu if the TV is set to a video input channel (FRNT).

17 Personal Bright Normal Theater Pr eset Pictur e Mode This function enables you to choose preset video settings for differ ent types of programs and viewing conditions. Most picture setti ngs are pr eset at the factory to automatically adjust the TV Brightness, Color , Contrast and Sharpness.

21 Main Menu Picture Sound Prefer ences Time Setup Helpful Hints Not all TV programs and commercials ar e broadcast with Closed Caption information. Neither are all Closed Caption modes transmitted by a station for a closed caption program. See your TV listings for the stations and times of Closed Caption shows.
22 Sleep: Off Sleep: 120min. Sleep: 110min. Sleep: 10min. Sleep: 9min. T ur ns off the TV within an amount of time you specify ( 10-120 min utes fr om the curr ent time). Press SLEEP r epeatedly to set the sleep timer from 120 to 10 minutes in 10-minute decrements.
23 Parental Lock pr ocesses program content advisories from br oadcasters. Parental Lock can r espond to the content advisories and block objectionable content (offensive language, violence, sexual situations, etc.) This is a great featur e to censor the type of programming childr en watch.
24 Helpful Hints Y ou cannot change Parental Lock settings without knowing the password. If you for get your password you can r eset it. Simultaneously press the VOL+ on the remote and the CH+ button on the front of the TV . The display will appear for you to enter your new password.

30 Helpful Hints Bass: Enhances the low frequency sounds. T reble: Enhances the high frequency sounds. Balance: Distributes the sound between the left and right speakers of the TV .
31 When stereo signals ar e available, this function enhances the stereo spatial ef fect. Press MENU to see the main menu. Press CH+ or CH- to highlight Sound. Press OK to enter the Sound submenu. Press CH+ or CH- r epeatedly to highlight Surround. Press VOL+ or VOL- to turn this option on or off.
32 Multi-channel Sound (MTS) broadcasts enhance TV viewing by bringing you programs with high fidelity stereo sound. MTS also provides an extra channel called the Second Audio Program (SAP), which br oadcasters can use to transmit a second language or for other purposes.
33 This feature enables you to stor e personal messages and can be used as a reminder . Press NOTEP AD to display the notebook screen. Press CAPS r epeatedly to toggle the entry mode between uppercase or lower case letters. Use number buttons to enter letters, numbers, or some special symbols.

35 Most problems you encounter with your TV can be corr ected by consulting the following tr oubleshooting list. TV Problems TV w on’t tur n on • Make sure the TV is plugged in. • Check the wall receptacle (or extension cor d) to make sure it is “live” by plugging in something else.
36 What Else Can I Do? • If you’ve been through the T roubleshooting section and nothing has fixed your pr oblem, try rebooting your TV. Note that after a r eboot you may need to run your TV through the setup pr ocess again. To do a r eboot, unplug the power cor d from the wall outlet, power strip, etc.
37 CAUTION: T ur n OFF your TV before cleaning. Y ou can clean the TV as requir ed, using a soft lint-free cloth. Be sur e to occasionally dust the ventilation slots in the cabinet to help assure adequate ventilation. The TV’ s screen may be cleaned with a soft, lint-fr ee cloth as well.
