9 Befor e you beg in Dear RCA Customer , Thank you for pur chasing the Player . This product will play mp3 and Windows Media™ audio ( WMA) content as well as cont ent purchased from most online music download services.
10 Connecting to the computer • Connect the player to y our computer with the USB cable provided . The play er will turn on automatically . • The player will be connected in MSC (Mass Storage Class) mode . It will appear as a drive letter on your computer and behave as a detachable driv e for file transf er in one or both directions.
11 Managing files on your RCA Pla yer Before y ou begin using your RCA play er , you’ll want to copy y our media files to the player . Y ou can use any of the following methods to transf er content:.
Using W indows Explorer T o copy files in Windows XP with Window s Media Play er 10 installed: 1. Open the player in Windows Explorer . 2. Drag and drop music files onto the Music folder . T o copy files in Windows Vista or Windows® 7 or Window XP with Windows Media Pla yer 11 installed: 1.
13 General controls T urning the player on and off T o turn the player on, slide / downward. Slide do wnward again to turn the pla yer off . Locking the player c ontrols T o lock the player controls to pr event them from being activated accidentally , slide / upward.
14 Menu types The player has two types of menu: Player menu The player menu appears when y ou turn on the player or if y ou press and hold while listening to the player .
15 • If the highlighted item is playable (for example , an audio file), press to star t playback. • If the highlighted item indicates the current setting (for example , the repeat mode setting), press to change the setting.
16 The Home menu The top-level or “Home ” menu is always display ed when you press and hold . The menu options are: Music Press to enter the Music menu and choose an artist, album, genre or individual title. Videos Press to ent er the Videos menu and choose a particular video for viewing.
17 Playing music files The player sorts your music files by track name (title), artist, album and genre. 1. In other modes, press and hold to display the Home menu.
18 The following options ar e available: • Add to Fa vorites/Clear fr om F av orites – to add the current file in the F avorites playlist (read page 26).

22 Audiobooks Audiobooks pla yback controls Playing audiobooks Audiobook playback is similar to music pla yback. 1. In other modes, press and hold to display the Home menu. Then press + or – and or to selec t Audiobooks . 2. Press to enter Audiobooks .
23 Skipping through audiobook sec tions If the currently playing audiobook contains sections, you can choose to skip forward and back between sections when you press or , instead of skipping between files. T o choose section-by-section skipping: 1. Press to pause playback and press to display the Option menu.
24 Radio Playing F M radio T o turn the radio on: 1. In other modes, press and hold to display the Home menu. 2. Press + or – and or to select Radio and press to enter the radio menu. 3. While Listen is highlighted, press or to start listening. The frequency screen appears.
25 Improving F M radio sound If stereo reception is noisy , you can often reduce the noise by switching to mono . T o switch between stereo and mono: 1. While the radio is playing, pr ess to display the Option menu . 2. Press + or – t o highlight Mode and then press to switch between Stereo and Mono .
26 Creating a "F av orites" playlist Y ou can create a playlist of your fa vorite music by adding new files t o the playlist as you listen t o them. This function is not available for other media f ormats such as videos, pictures, audiobooks and rec ordings.
27 Recording v oice memo Y ou can record v oice and play back recor dings as well as copy the r ecordings (W A V files) to your PC. T o record v oice: 1. In other modes, press and hold to display the Home menu. 2. Then press + or – and or to select Voic e Memo , and press to enter the V oice Memo menu.
28 Settings Changing the play er ’ s settings T o change the player settings: 1. In other modes, press and hold to display the Home menu. 2. Press + or – and or to select Settings and press to enter the settings menu. 3. Press + or – t o select a setting and then press to change it.
29 RecDur (Record duration) T o change the duration (Max, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour) for radio and v oice memo recor ding. F reqSt ep (F requency Step) T o changes the way that the player scans through the radio fr equencies. Switch t o EU if you bring the player to Europe; switch back t o US when you return to North America.
30 Tips and tr oubleshooting Cannot delete files on the play er . • For an y files you hav e transferred t o the player , you may delete them while you ha ve connected the player with your c omputer . Highlight the unwanted file in the player’ s file directory on your computer and press the delete key on your c omputer to delete the file.
31 Song information is not showing corr ectly . • Song information may not match your curr ent player’ s language setting. Change the language setting. Cannot view picture files. • The player only supports .jpg extension file, and do not support other formats like .
32 F or your records Keep your sales receipt f or proof of purchase t o obtain warranty par ts and service.
