1 How to Use This Manual This User’s Manual provides instructions an d illustrations on how to install an d operate y our M5001/M5002 . We assume that your operating system is at least Windows ME / 2000 / XP, an d you are capabl e to follow the step-by-step instructions to install the utility of M5001 /M5002 .

3 Chapter 1. Introduction C ongratulatio ns on bec om ing a new user of M5001/M5002 . The new M5001/M5002 will improve the conven ience of listening mu sic, viewing photos/ videos, and sh aring data.
4 USB Storage Device – allows users to store data n eeded in M5001/M5002 . (The capacity depen ds on the m odel you bou ght.) Hold Switch – M5001/ M5002 has a Hold Switch, which locates on the side for preventing any accidental operation while recording or playing.
5 Chapter 2. Getting Started Overview 1. Display Scr een Read status and i nformat ion at this wi ndow . 2. MIC Internal Microphone. 3. Exit/ Press it to exit to higher level menu. Submenu Hold it for two seconds to display availab le options. Options will vary depending on what menu is displayed.
6 7. Up Press it to select among items. V olume Up During playback, press it to increase volume level. 8. Down Press it to select among items. V olume Down During playback, press it to decrease volume level.

8 Battery Recharge M5001/M5002 co mes with a Lithium ion polymer rechargeable battery . T o charge the Li-ion battery , follow the instructions below: 1. On the bottom side o f M5001/M5002 , you coul d see a USB (B type, fem ale) port. 2. Do not turn on M5001/M5002 .
9 Lock Switch M5001/M5002 has a Lock Switch to avoid accidental operation. Slide it to lock position while power is on, and all function keys are disabled. Slide it to unlock t o continue. If the switch is at lock positio n, M5001/M5002 can not be turned on.

Connect and Disconnect Connect to Computer Note: If the W indows Medi a Player on your computer is bel ow version 10, u pgrade it via Internet beforehand, to help system recognize M5001/M5002 in MTP mode. Note: Power up the device to est ab lish USB connection if the unit is in battery charging mo de.
11 Chapter 4. Basic Usage This chapter introduces the basic usages of M 5001/M 5002 . Please read carefully to know how to operate your device. Note that the figur es below are for refe rence only . Power On Before operation, you have to turn on th e device first.
12 Music Music Playback M5001/M5002 sup ports MP3 , W A V , W M A a n d W M A f o r m a t w i t h D R M a u d i o . Follow the steps below to enjoy music. 1. To play music/ voice, select a nd enter the Music opti on on Main Menu. 2. Then press or button to select how y ou want to sort the music files.
13 Add So ngs to Pla ylist In M5001/M500 2 , you can edit personal playlist to includ e your favorite songs. Follow the steps below . 1. In playback mode or on Music file list, press button for 2 seconds to call subm enu. 2. Select the Add to PL item and press OK key to activate.
14 Remove a S ong fr om Playlist 1. Select and enter the Music item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Playlist you want edit . 3. Use or button to select a song to delete, an d press button for 2 seconds to call subm enu. 4. Select Delete in the submenu and press OK key to delete selected song from playlist.
15 L yric Function On/ Off M5001/M5002 su pports lyric display. If you stored songs with lyric files, you can turn on the lyric to read by t he steps below. 1. In playbac k mode, cal l submenu . 2. Select the Lyric On it em and press OK key to c onfirm, you can read the lyric as the track is playing.
16 Set EQ M5001/M5002 provides various EQ modes, such as POP , Ro ck , Jazz, and Classical . Y ou can choose as following steps to increas e the enjoym ent of lis tening to music and to meet your personal needs. 1. In playbac k mode, cal l submenu . 2.
17 Photo M5001/M5002 suppor ts JPEG graphics (up to 8 mega pixels) and prov ides slideshow function. V iew Photo 1. To view photos stored on M5001/ M5002 , select Photo option on M ain Menu and press OK key to ent er the photo function. 2. Select and press OK key on a file to view, then thumbnails of stored first 12 pho tos will show on display.
18 Slideshow You can ha ve the JPEG file s slideshow on M5001/M5002 . 1. While viewi n g one photo, pre ss bu tton to start slideshow. There will be a icon at the bottom right corner of the display . 2. T o stop slideshow, press button again. And there will be a icon at the bottom right corner of the display .
19 Puzzle You can play puzzle with the stored ph oto. 1. While vi ewing one phot o, call subm enu. Select Puzzle option and press OK key. The photo will be cut in pieces, one piece will be c ut down as a black box, and the others will be moved and placed in wrong order.
20 Video Play V ideo M5001/M5002 su pports .MOV video files encoded with M-JPEG up to a resolution of 128x160 and 12 frames per seco nd (fps). 1. To play vi deo files st ored on M5001/M5002 , select Video option on Main Menu and press OK key to enter the video fu nction.
21 Notes Read *.txt File M5001/M5002 supports reading .txt and .lrc Unicode files. 1. To read text files stored on M5001/M5002 , select Notes option on M ain Menu and press OK key to enter t h e Notes function. 2. Select a text file on the file list and press OK key to read it.
22 FM Radio Listen to FM Ratio M5001/M5002 supports FM radi o function. Follow ste ps below t o enjoy FM ra dio. 1. To listen t o the FM radio br oadcast by M5001/ M5002 , select the Radio option on Ma in Menu a nd press OK key to enter. (Als o, the earp hones have to be plug ged, they are the antenna of M50 01/ M5002 ) 2.
23 Customize Channels/ Auto-Scan Y ou can also set channels at your preferen ce. And if you go to different region, you can perform Auto Preset to scan available stations. 1. Adjust the frequency to the station you need, call submenu, and select Save CH option.
24 Browser M5001/M5002 provides an easy access to file managem ent. The file browser can open and a rrange fil es stored on t he device. Browse Contents In Browser , you can open video, music, phot o, note files which are readable by each function page .
25 Setting Enter Setting Menu, you can adjust all the options and allow M5001/M500 2 to meet your needs. 1. Select Setting optio n on Mai n Menu and press OK key t o enter. L yric On/ Off M5001/M5002 su pports lyric display. If you store songs with lyric files, you can tur n on the lyric to read ly ric by the steps below.
26 SRS M5001/M5002 supports SRS effect. WOW is a sp eci al com bination of SRS audio technologies that creates a th ril l i ng expe ri enc e with deep rich bass from sound source. Note that when SRS is enabled, the EQ se ttings will be disabled at the same time.
27 Set EQ M5001/M5002 provides POP , Rock , Ja zz, and Classical EQ modes. Note: Once E Q is enabled, SRS settings will be disabled at the same time. 1. Select Setting optio n on Mai n Menu and press OK key t o enter. 2. Select and enter EQ item . 3. Use or key to select Normal, POP, Rock, Jazz or Classical, then press OK key t o confirm.
28 Record Settings 1. Select Setting optio n on Mai n Menu and press OK key t o enter. 2. Select and enter Record opti o n. 3. Select and enter the Quality item. 4. Select one o f the optio ns by your needs. 5. You can set the recor d file type t o be MP3 or WAV by selecting the options in File Type, then press OK key to confirm.
29 Slide Settings Y ou can set how long eac h image is di splayed. 1. Select and enter Settin g item in Main Menu. 2. Select and enter Slide Interval item. 3. Select one f rom the optio ns to meet y our needs. 4. Press button once to go back to upper lev el.
30 Radio Region Due to the Ra dio in Japan is dif ferent from the ot her regio ns in the wo rld, set Radio Region to Ja pan first to enabl e listeni ng to FM radi o if you were in Japa n,. 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Radi o Region item.
31 Backlight Off Backlight tim er program can save the power . After having been i dle for sel ected period, the device will cease backlight. Pr ess any button to have backlight on. 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Backlight Off item.
32 Language 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Language item. 3. Select a lan guage you wa nt to use, the n press OK key to confirm.
33 Date and T ime 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Date/Time item. 3. To adjust how you want the ti me to be dis played, select the Time Format item, and th en select 12 hour or 24 hour format. 4. Select Set Time or Set da te to change the time or date settings.
34 Master Reset 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Master Reset item. 3. Select the Yes item, then press OK key to confirm. Info 1. Select the Setti ng item in Main Menu. 2. Select the Info item. 3. You can rea d device information on the sc reen.

Fi rst of all, plu g one end o f Line-In cabl e to the Audio-out jack of a W alkma n, Compute r , Radio, TV , or other Audio Equipment s, and plug the other end t o the Line-I n jack of M 5001/M 5002 .
36 Microphone Recor ding M5001/M5002 has a bu ilt in Microphone, which can also works as a synchronizing recorder . In other words, you can use it to record your voice in either an interview or a speech. T o proceed Microphone Reco rding, follow the steps below .
37 Language Learning Function M5001/M5002 enables users to listen to a particul ar section repeatedly during m usic or voice playback. With this function, users will be able to pay atten tion to the repeated section a nd to achie ve the result of language lear ning.
