26 Several studies have reported that regular walking at moderate to brisk speeds appears to increase bone density. Specifically, Fradin and his colleagues 6 found that 70-year-old subjects who walked at least 30 minu- tes per day had higher bone mineral content than sub - jects who walked less than 30 minutes per day.
27 The following guidelines will help you to plan your exercise program. For more detailed exercise informa- tion, obtain a reputable book or consult your physician. EXERCISE INTENSITY Whether your goal is to burn fat or to strengthen your cardiovascular system, the key to achieving the desired results is to exercise with the proper intensity.
