1 English Pixi ™ pedia tric mask Thank y ou for c hoosing the Pixi P ediatric mask. Please read the entire manual before use. Intended use The Pixi P ediatric mask c hannels airfl ow nonin vasively to a patient from a continuous positive air wa y pressure (CP AP) or bile vel device (‘de vice’).
2 Explanation: CP AP and bilevel devices are intended to be used with special masks (or connectors) which have vent holes to allow continuous flow of air out of the mask. When the device is turned on and functioning properly , new air from the device flushes the exhaled air out through the mask vent holes.

4 W ARNING • Ensure that the nasal cushion does not bloc k the nostrils at any time during fit ting or use. • Do not leave long lengths of air tubing around the top of the c hild’ s bed. It could twist around the c hild’ s head or nec k while sleeping.

6 Adjustment Pixi Hints! • T o ac hiev e optimal seal, adjust the headgear straps starting at the bot tom strap and working upw ards. • If the c hild experiences nasal dryness or irritation, using a humidifi er is recommended. Adjustment st eps 1.
7 English At taching the pr essure por t The pressure port is used to measure the air pressure at y our mask so that the correct pressure is set. This happens during the sleep st udy at the hospital. The pressure port is also used to deliv er oxygen. This can take place in the home or hospital environment.
8 Cushion chec k Cushion chec k steps 1–2. Ensure the cushion is not creased or folded or caught inside the soc kets of the mask frame. 3. The Pixi cushion is designed to sit mid-bridge. Ensure that the mask does not bloc k the nose or mouth at any time.
9 English Remov al Remov al st eps 1–2. Gently hold the mask against the c hild’ s face. Unhook the quic k release clip from the low er headgear arm by pulling forward and aw ay from the arm. 3–4. Keep holding the mask and remo ve the headgear by pulling up and ov er the head towards the f ace.
10 Emerg ency r emov al In the ev ent of an emergency , remo ve the mask by placing y our finger under the low er headgear strap and firmly pulling it awa y from the c hild – this will activate the quic k release clip. Do not use this remo val method under normal circumstances.

12 Headgear r eassembly Pixi Hints! • Y ou don ’t need to disassemble y our Pixi headgear to wash it. • The V elcro straps and plastic buc kles ha ve been color coded for ease of assembly . Headgear r eassembly steps 1. Lay the headgear and plastic buc kles out on a fl at surface as shown, ensuring the low er headgear arms are facing up.

14 Reassembly Reassembly steps 1. Insert eac h side of the cushion into the soc kets of the mask frame. Ensure the cushion is oriented correctly . The arro ws on the cushion should be pointing up tow ards the plug tether . The raised v ented area of the cushion should also be sit ting up against the mask frame.
15 English Cleaning the mask The mask and headgear should only be gently handw ashed. Daily/Af ter eac h use: • Disassemble the mask components according to the disassembly instructions. • Thoroughly clean the separated mask components (e xcluding headgear), by gently r ubbing in warm (appro ximately 30°C) water using mild soap.
16 T r oubleshooting Problem / possible cause Solution Mask is too noisy V ent is bloc k ed or partially bloc ked. If the vent requires cleaning, use a sof t bristle brush. Elbow or plug is incorrectly inserted. Remo ve the elbow and plug from the mask and then reassemble according to the instructions.
17 English W ARNING • The tec hnical specifications of the mask are provided for your clinician to c hec k that they are compatible with the CP AP or bilevel device.
