Thank you for purchasi ng the RadioShack 40W AC/DC PA Amplifier. It gives you the versati lity and power you need in a professional sound sys tem. Your amplifi er’s wide frequen cy response ea sily handles a mpli ficatio n of voice and musi c.
2 Microp hone Rotary Volume Controls - lets you adjust the microphone level (see Page 15) . Rota ry MASTER Volume Control - lets you adjust the overall sound level ( See Page 15 ) . On/Off Rocker Switch with LED Indicator - lights to indicate power is turned on ( See Page 15) .
3 Ground Scr ew - connect the ground wire (black or green) to this screw to avoid low-frequency hum. Mix Bus Jack - connects extra amplifier for multiple audio source ( See Page 7) . AC IN - supports other music instrument/amplifier power with maximum load of 100W ( See Page 14) .

6 Connections %QPPGEVKPI/KETQRJQ PGU You can connect one dy namic m icrophone (not sup plied) to MIC 1 and an other to MIC 2 using a 1/4” (6.3 5 mm) plug. %QPPGEVKPIC6WTPVCDNG You can connect a low level au dio in put sourc e, such a s a magne tic cartri dge turntab le, to the ampl ifie r’s L and R PHONO jac ks.
Connections 7 %QPPGEVKPIVJG/+:$75,CEM You can conne ct another MP-40 amplifier to this jack (sho w n on pa ge 3) to double th e size o f your PA syste m. This l ets you u se up to f our microp hones and two turntables (or two auxiliari es) sound sources .
8 Connections Important: If you are c onnecting more than two speake rs in seri es only or paral l el only, be su re the total im pedan ce does n ot exceed the a m plif ier’s maxim um impe dance (16 ohms) or fall be low the minim um imped ance (4 oh ms).
Connections 9 % 100'%6+0) 1 0' 5 2'#-'4 Connect t he speak er’s negativ e (-) termin al to th e ampl ifie r’s COM terminal. The n, connec t the speake r’s posi tive (+) term inal to th e speaker terminal (4 Ω , 8 Ω , or 16 Ω ) that matc hes the speake r’s impedance .
10 Connections Follow these s teps to connect speakers in s eries. 1. Connect t he first s peaker ’s p ositive terminal t o the othe r speaker’s negativ e terminal. 2. Connect the first s peaker’s negati ve termi nal to the amp lifier ’s COM termi nal .
Connections 11 Follow these s teps to co nnect two spe akers in para lle l. 1. Connect b oth spea ker ’s n egative (-) terminals to each other . Then, connec t both wires to the ampl ifie r ’s COM termi nal . 2. Conne ct both sp eaker s’ positi ve (+) term inals to each other .
12 Connections 3. C onnec t each pair of spea kers in paral lel. If you co nnected 8-ohm s peakers, the tot al impeda nce of both p airs is 8 ohms (16 /2 = 8). 4. Connect the s peake rs’ negative (-) t ermina ls to the amp lifier ’s COM termi nal .
Connections 13 Transform ers allo w you to: • connec t speake rs with dif ferent imp edances withou t causi ng output diffe rences between the speake rs. • add or remove a speake r from the s ystem withou t having to recalculate t he entire system ’s i mpedanc e.
14 Connections %10 0'%6+ 0)2 19'4 To conn ect the am plifier to power, p lug the fem ale end of th e supplied A C power co rd into the ampl ifie r’s AC IN jack and the ot her end to a ny standard AC outle t. Note: The wires labeled with an A are connected to each other .
15 Operation Operation % 100'%6+0) 6 *' &%8+0, #%- To pow er the amp lifier from your veh icle’s 1 2V battery, plug the suppli ed DC pow er ca ble’s ba rrel plug to the DC 12V IN ja ck, and th en co nnect the other end to yo ur vehicl e’s 12V accessory socke t, such a s a cigar ette-lighter so cket.
Troubleshooting 16 • Put the headp hones on, and t hen gradually incr ease the v olume to your d esired li stening lev el. • Do not listen at extrem ely high volume level s . Extended high-vol ume listening can lead to permane nt hearing loss. • Once y ou set th e volume, do no t incre ase it.
